essiw
I'm surprised to see the blank tile remain on the interface after the update. Anyone know what is planned for that space?I believe it is used in the clan citadels http://sign.tip.it/1/2/79/260/essiw.png Retired item crew I would like to be credited as essiw at the website update & corrections forum. Saradomin_Mage
Agreed. The website's quite nice. Oo wait....Jagex changed something....oooo the horror :DI'm not always strongly opposed to change. However, to me, the new website gives up a lot of the functionality it used to possess in exchange for flashier graphics and longer load times. Articles in the Game Guide now appear poor organised, and in some sections they've decided to reduce accessibility (such as the Skills Page - it used to link directly to all the skills; now you need to select a skill "class" first before looking at those manuals). Pages stretch out longer because they decided to throw graphics everywhere, whereas the old manual was very compact. The Adventurer's Log has lost a lot of its functionality, which I am really quite mad about (I can't see all my skills at a glance, and I have no idea where my total game time statistic is hiding). Finally, Jagex decided to offer up its whole game manual to butchering by players, who, really, can do just about anything they want to it. Who cares about the 3rd edit, anyway? This is all I can think of off the top of my head. I'm not an opponent of change, but I'd like to see it at least going in an upward direction. I will get used to the changes in a matter of time, as I have no choice about that, but surely you must admit that this website change has seemed to regard ease of navigation completely. In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.

Formerly_Deathknell
Anyone else think they went to a Wiki because they could never get the manual right and just said "screw it?" Was Deathknell, but the password recovery never worked for me. So I'm this now. Whatever. Someone get me some damn fried chicken!
Makoto_the_Phoenix
toadlol.png LOL indeedThree or so hours later, it's still there. I'm not sure what Jagex is trying to accomplish with this Wiki of theirs -is it really because they couldn't be bothered with maintaining the manual? Even so, if they want it to accurately reflect information, they'd better invest some time into it anyway, or you'll get the above. GlowinRedM
I have a question about the downloadable client. My question is: why is Jagex offering their 22.5 MB client, when the old 85.5 KB works just as well? There seems to be no difference in performance, at least none that I can find. I believe the old one used IE as a framework for the client. The new one may be more standalone and rely less on the IE APIs. I also think it was until IE8 that Windows Explorer IE were basically the same thing. I could also be entirely wrong and making this up. this client uses a modified openjdk (java environment) that only loads in their program, which means you dont need to install java if you have that installed to play. besides, 22.5mb isn't really anything anymore The corp beast, is, well, just a corp beast. Nabbagad
The new hiscores page is quite tedious to look at, such a strain on the eyes. The hiscores page, two updates previous, was clear, easy to view and to compare, not to mention nice to look at. Now it's just a mess. The fact that I am no longer recognised as a player, who spent many days (months!) playing this game, doesn't bother me as much knowing that were I still in there, it would be quite the effort to decipher my stats from that page. Syd
Especially dungeoneering after the update, I've gotten some headache from playing. It feels like it's harder to look at your inventory (now that it became transparent) and read the item names with the new font. I feel like I've gotten slower dungeoneering, and constantly missread and miss things. I hope it gets better as I get used to it. I think the chatboxes/inventory take more space than they used to. They sort of block the view a bit. Otherwise I think the game runs more smoothly than it used to, which is great. I still don't give a damn about hiscores, so don't know what to say about them. They look rather messier than they used to.

Saradomin_Mage
Every piece of Glacyte data added to the guide is WRONG.WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG.The only way that the data could be like that is if someone who has NO experience in killing Glacytes (or observational skills) AT ALL wrote that up. Sy_Accursed
So not all that wrong then really.1 percentage slightly off, 1 effect stated as a fixed amount rather than a percentage and 1 in the wording since increased defence essentially does the same job as damage reduction.Least they are all attached to a semi-correct effect and the rest of the info is pretty accurate. Ginger_Warrior
* Black salamander is fine, any less is unreasonably ineffective. No mention of tars though, so I'll guess he's slapping the brothers with it instead of torching them.* I've not seen anyone use Guthans inside Barrows for about three years. Try EE?* I don't know how he's getting through that many prayer potions, each of which is currently about 7K each. It takes me one sip to deal with Karil, and one in case of a Dharok tunnel. So half a pot at most per chest for 3.5K cost. (Come to think of it, he's meleeing Ahrim. That might be where)* Ring of wealth... just... no. Archer ring (i) if using sallies/crossbow, even explorer ring would be better for a +1 prayer boost versus Karil. I'm not sure why being high levelled makes any difference to a ROW either.* Special attack weapon should be, as said, EE if you need healing. Korasi's isn't a bad choice for an offensive weapon but I'd rather claw Karil.* Ahrim should be ranged in black dhides or void ranged if possible. That's a positive magic defence bonus right there. But apart from those flaws, and the lack of third-person perspective, let's give it a good score. And this is the problem with a Wiki that can't back up what it says with evidence. Also, in the text that Jagex themselves wrote... an ectophail is a short walk away from Barrows? Try Drakan's medallion, which if you go to Burgh de Rott to bank is a completely free and reuseable teleport which transports you right to the Barrows' front door. I've also not used an ectophail as a one-click teleport since Construction was released and we got home teletabs. I mean, to be fair, Construction was only released just over five years ago so I can understand people might not have caught up yet. | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |
NukeMarine
Hopefully I'm not being naive and Jagex has a plan to have players that are wiki moderators with authority to revert changes, lock pages, and block players that vandalize pages. A wiki is a great idea, but there has to be over riding control when things like edit wars or new material comes out. Overall, I'm for a wiki as the power of tens of thousands will do more than the power of dozens. Jagex can release the base template and let the players do the rest. Ginger_Warrior
What if the information they're releasing isn't plain wrong, but still highly contentious? Like stating that CLS > CR? That's not a plainly wrong statement, it's contentious. Chaotic rapier is better than the longsword at most things, but the longsword still has its uses. Depending on context, the direction of that arrow changes. What do you do then? Another example would be stating that chinchompas give 250K ranged xp/hr. At what levels... with what methods... using what equipment... on what monsters? | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |
