GandT
Hello Tifer's, I've been away for the best part of a few years, returning here and there and checking the RS Site out for any major changes ... Anyway, im strongly considering making a comeback into the game. Unfortunately however, I was hacked by a Macro a few months ago, decided to sell everything it could and leave me with a tidy sum of 3m in pure ess - fun. So, my question is - Is it really worth returning? I was RS mad for years, made loads of accounts, won/lost everything and then rage quit. Im looking for something to do casually, maybe slayer, maybe get some items from Minigames, join a casual clan. - Just something to pad the days out really. Im about to become a father soon so time will be pretty limited, my sons due over Xmas and I have a full time job as a catering manager, but seeing how much RS has changed and missing the action, i am considering returning for a few months. So, im asking where do i start? If i even bother starting again? Feed me some ideas, coupla' links to some decent guides to get me back up and running. The account ill be using wont be anything special, Its 70 def/prayer (It was the lowest level piety acc and Bgloves for a while) so I dont need advice so much on what to kill or who to kill, just some ideas - any clans that are pretty fun, any old timers that remember me from my old acc Gin_And_Tonic? Lets her ya! Peace x

D. V. Devnull
GandT, I've been a 100% F2P'er this whole time. (It's been a bad economy stopping me from ever being P2P, just among other things.) However, even without experiencing the P2P game, I can tell you it is not worth it. Search around these forums a little, you find the "Why?" obvious. Jagex slapped too many people in the face with too many things, damaged/near-destroyed clan/F2P/P2P communities, and the game lags like hell with almost no regard to what you play it on. About the only people who are happy with RuneScape anymore are those who are P2P-elitist snobs (and which currently have no problems with their computer running RS) that think F2P should be removed and hate even other P2Ps who want F2P revived. (In case you're curious, some of those P2P who want F2P revived are on my buddy list.) Literally, RS is dying a slow death, if it isn't totally dead already, and all because there are a bunch of non-gamer-minded investors in control who are just trying to make a quick buck off of the RS game. I personally recommend that you do not spend your $6/month on RS anymore, in order to get the point across to those investors by making them take a hit to their wallet. It is literally the only thing that they understand. :( ~Mr. D. V. "Pardon the rant... Spending your money on RS isn't worth it now." Devnull (p.s.: Finally, if you want one insanely good reason to not go P2P, Jagex damaged account security by removing the F2P highscores instead of just dumping the botted scores. If you're not subscribed as a P2P, you literally can't keep an eye on your account from outside the RS game. This last blow finally caused me to quit RS forever.) and normally with a cool mind.(Warning: This user can be VERY confusing to some people... And talks in 3rd person for the timebeing due to how insane they are... Sometimes even to themself.)
Gwasha
For some reason your name sounds familiar... Did you ever go to the Blogscape chats? Anyways, I haven't been a F2Per for a long time (very long), so I can't give their perspective. Therefore I would advise to get a months worth of membership to try it out. If you like it, sweet. You don't? Meh, only $6 gone. Either way, try a couple quests, keep doing stuff you enjoy and don't do it if you don't like it, and avoid the repetitive tasks if you can (lol did I just say that?). I've always found those boring and coming back to the game and doing boring stuff doesn't exactly keep me around for long.
Fallstar
Well they got rid of the vast majority of bots, which has improved the general economy no end, as well as making the game far more fun. RS is in no way "dying a slow death", but f2p have received a large than normal volume of kicks in the teeth recently, as Jagex have heavily stepped up their money making schemes, primarily though trying to keep people as members for longer(Members loyalty programme, displaying subscription length on forum posts), trying to get member to purchase membership multiple times(in game cosmetic items which are available only if you buy a membership card in a shop, and only from certain retailers at that; the ability to refer yourself five times a year to gain a 1.1xp modifier by purchasing membership multiple times) and messing with f2p to make them get membership (displaying members items in the f2p game, removing important game content such as hiscores from f2p). But if you don't mind paying the £3.50 or w/e a month, then now is a pretty good time to be playing RS. Many skills are now decently profitable due to the removal of bots (rcing bloods gets around 900k/hr), there's been some highly rated quests released (ritual of the maharrajat, one piercing note, branches of darkmeyer) and I'm not really sure what people were talking about lag. About a week or two ago Jagex released an update which removed much of the lag that has been present in RS for 5 years or more, as well as fixing some of it which was due to the update that prevents botting. This is on a 2.0GHz dual core laptop with 4GB Ram and 512Mb dedicated GRAM so its miles away from being a top spec machine, yet I experience lag soley in the ge now. LRC 84 at peak times is completely lag free. Asmodean <
Runecrafts
damaged/near-destroyed clan/F2P/P2P communities, and the game lags like hell with almost no regard to what you play it on. About the only people who are happy with RuneScape anymore are those who are P2P-elitist snobs (and which currently have no problems with their computer running RS) that think F2P should be removed and hate even other P2Ps who want F2P revivedI don't understand how you can judge people in the p2p game when you've been f2p. 1.The F2P game is free for a reason. Jagex is a company, and the goal is to make money. They need to make sure the P2P game is far superior so they can continue to make money. They won't make much of that if the free game is got all this nice stuff. 2.The game lags like hell? I've never heard anyone say that. The game has a lot of options to change the graphics, and if your computer can't handle the low settings then it must be one horrible computer. 3.The game isn't full of elitist snobs. Just because there are some rude people in the game doesn't mean there aren't any normal players. Anyways - I say give it a shot. Bots are gone, the game has had some pretty good updates in the last few years, free trade is back, the old wilderness is back. There's a lot to do and try on the game. My advice to you is to buy some membership and see how you like it. :) Hi if you're reading this you are amazing and I love you.Maybe they'll release a bugless update for April Fools. That being said you should still get swtor instead of rs.+1 If you have been gone from the game for a long time, you may feel quite lost/overwhelmed trying to get back into the game. If you are looking to get into a game for the occasional fun, then try out RS and see if it does the trick for you. Don't set any goals or anything if you go back to members, just get out there and explore. Try the minigames, do a quest, or just do random shit. @Devnull, The OP probably has no idea what an elite snob even looks like. There are quite a few of them here, yes, but you need to realize that elitest are an EXTREME minority in the RS community. I don't ever post much, but when I do, I make sure I know what I'm talking about. I suggest that you do the same.
Low Levelled
~Mr. D. V. "Pardon the rant... Spending your money on RS isn't worth it now." Devnull ^ garbage post and annoying sigs Anyway, I say try it out. Subscribe for a month, you have nothing to lose, aside from $6. The game is actually more healthy right now than it was several months ago.
GandT
Thanks for the posts guys, food for thought. It seems Runescape has developed pretty rapidly, and members does appear the only enjoyable method of playing. I might stick a month on and see where it leads. Making money seems easier than ever now, i guess the silver spoon never left the babies mouth while i was away.
