Rare Drop Table Group

My friend & I were discussing the Crew recruitment, when she mentioned the idea of simplifying how the Rare Drop table is incorporated into the Drop lists for each monster. How about instead of listing each item, there is a single entry of "Access to Rare Drop Table," which then links to a page that includes a list of all the items that could potentially be dropped. This would make the Bestiary pages look cleaner & more professional, in my opinion.

Possibly, add a new row to the table, "Access to Rare Drop Table?" (with "Rare Drop Table" linked to the relevant page) Then, the second column could say "Yes/No."

Anyway, just a thought to make it look more tidy. :)

There is more than one rare drop table, depending on your definition.

Uncut Gems, Half keys, Rune Javelins (5), Dragon Spear, Shield Left Half are all part of one drop table. These come from all monsters that drop uncut gems except Tzhaar.

The other set of rare drops only drop from monsters which drop dragon med helms (possibly excluding the KBD), these are drops such as Nature Runes, Rune weapons/armour (R2H, Kite), bunch of rune arrows, bunch of steel arrows etc.

Then there was the change with the RoW wealth update which I believe added more drops to the second type, although I'm unsure on that (haven't had many of the drops myself so been unable to verify) but the amount of items (runes etc.) you get from the second set of rare drops has been increased.

Hm, I wasn't aware that there was more than 1 drop table. On any rate, while it may be a large amount of work, there could still be pages created with these groups of items. It may be troublesome, but it would look quite nice.

If I am correct the second rare drop table that DarkDude is talking about is not really a rare drop table, because RoW doesn't affect it. (But I can be wrong about it).

I am however sure that the rare drop table update that came out with the RoW update is from the uncut gem drop table.

The problem with the updated rare drop table is that it now looks like specific monsters drop specific amounts of the new things (like for example big bones, cave slimes could drop 150 and lesser demons 180, these are not facts, just an example).

Also if I am correct this has been suggested many times before and the crew is already looking in to it from the beginning of the rare drop table update.

I've had ring of wealth shine when getting the "new" drops and as I said they updated the previous drops from that table along with the update so it seems very likely that they're linked in some way. We'll never know for sure exactly how the rare drop table works and can only speculate to the exact specifics of it, especially when it comes to the ring of wealth. It could very well be that they're both actual rare drop tables (rather than one being just a group of drops they like to use) and the new items have been split amongst them (Big bones as a drop in the gem table while Torstol is a drop from Dragon Med table). Who knows? It'd be impossible to prove that theory anyway as everyone that has the dragon med group also has the gem group :P. Figuring out drop logic is always something I've enjoyed doing and unfortunately haven't been able to "research" the updated drops in detail yet, maybe I should get on that soon.

That could indeed be true, but what it makes even more strange are that RoW now works for clues too.

As I experienced myself and what I found really strange was that when I was killing cave slimes and got a clue (RoW shines) I did only get the clue and not the 100% drops and this not once but always. Maybe that would help with researching and it could just be a bug but I think it involves more.

As the above posters mentioned, there are multiple rare drops. Personally, I thought the last RoW update added a third drop table with new goodies, leaving the two old ones intact. It may very well be true that it merely added things to the existing tables - it's not something we've been able to do a lot of research on. At any rate, I'm fairly sure that the new drops are not just added to the uncut gems table. I don't see any hobgoblins suddenly dropping Vecna skulls and thousands of rune essence.

Once we figure it out, we will improve the way such drops will be listed. We will most likely end up using an item groups for this, much like how we list drops for many dungeoneering monsters now.

As for clue scrolls, that's a separate issue entirely. The RoW simply improves odds of getting a clue scroll from monsters that are able to drop them. It is unrelated to rare drops and the like.

Clue scrolls need to be refigured out too. It used to be one reward per part up to 6 (In level 3 clues, level 2 and level 1 clues had lower limits) and with the addition of elite clues this has been broken. No idea why Jagex changed that but it's bloody annoying :P
