Rs is so laggy I can barely play..

For the past 3 or so days, I've been trying to play RS and I can barely get 2 fps when running/moving the camera and it takes well over 10 seconds to load a new area, making dungeoneering nearly impossible. My herb runs have gone from taking 5 minutes to taking nearly 8.

Does ANYONE have any suggestions about what might be able to fix this, so that I can actually play the game properly?

I'm the same.

I have tried just running RS, changing java, slowing from top specs to min and its still the same.

Nothing wrong with other games- plays Skyrim/Sims3/WoW and EQ2 perfectly fine.

I can only think its RS's end.

Mine has been like this for almost a month now, in Edgeville I get 1 fps, and the max I can get atm is 19/21. Should be getting more. And it can take a 30 secs to load area's which has always been instant for me.

It was like this for a lot of people following the bot nuke and it got better after some time. People often suggest switching graphics mode, but I think that you're probably tired of reading that. You could also try to play on a different computer, might also be a video driver issue.

Best of luck.

I've never seen Sixth Sense nor Inception nor many other popular movies and I intend to keep it that way.

I had the same thing last night, ended up un-installing Java, Clearing Java caches, Clearing Runescape/Jagex caches and changing to Directx ingame. Game runs a lot smoother now even got up to 50 fps while at glacors.

I've already cleared jagex/runescape cache and use directx, and I do get up to 45fps.. provided I'm standing still/moving in the same general area (usually a 10x10 square around my character).

Have you tried increasing the maximum java heap size?

Try adding "-Xmx256m" (default is 64 i think) in the java runtime environment settings in the control panel (the little icon in your taskbar).

"The more persistence a game tries to have; the longer it is set up to last; the greater number (and broader variety) of people it tries to attract; and in general the more immersive a game/world it set out to be--then the more breadth and depth of human experience it needs to support to be successful for more than say, 12-24 months. If you try to create a deeply immersive, broadly appealing, long-lasting world that does not adequately provide for human tendencies such as violence, acquisition, justice, family, community, exploration, etc (and I would contend we are nowhere close to doing this), you will see two results: first, individuals in the population will begin to display a wide range of fairly predictable socially pathological behaviors (including general malaise, complaining, excessive bullying and/or PKing, harassment, territoriality, inappropriate aggression, and open rebellion against those who run the game); and second, people will eventually vote with their feet--but only after having passionately cast 'a pox on both your houses.' In essence, if you set people up for an experience they deeply crave (and mostly cannot find in real life) and then don't deliver, they will become like spurned lovers--somebecome sullen and aggressive or neurotic, and eventually almost all leave."

Would I add that into Runtime Parameters?

To add on to what Jowie said, this is useful for dungeoneering, but it still should apply to RS as a whole.

I already attempted to do that, but I couldn't understand a lot of it (probably just because of the lack of structure in that guide), and what i did do, nothing happened.

Quick find code: 98-99-682-63536739

Following that got me from 3-4 fps to 7-8 fps. Hopefully it works for you.

I cannot express how grateful I am for your help.. typed in (-Xmx2048M) and my lag is gone.

  • 1 month later...

when I type that number sequence into my java runetime parameters, I click add, and then ok and when I go back and view, nothing is there, it is blank.

My hardrive crashed and I just got a brand new one today and the game is so slow it is literally unplayable, and I have a 6 month old computer, with a brand new harddrive and a cable modem so there I should be running this game at super fast speed.... I need help fast as tomorrow is BXPW and I still need to plant my fruit trees today....
