I'm sorry, as much as I'd like to support your view of how everyone should just work together etc, etc, your opinion is just America is doomed. In before 20trillion dollar debt.Ohhhh man, the sweet, sweet conservative tears on my Facebook news feed right now.Thank god. Romney was just.....no.... This is the problem with America. American's see the election results in only black and white: there's a winner, and a loser. If you're on the winning side, you get to point your finger and say "haha told you so, u butthurt??!?" to the losers. It stuns me how we shame the "losers" and ridicule them for voting for the "wrong guy." There's no wrong guy for gods sake. Just because you voted for Romney, doesn't mean you should instill in your mind that you somehow made the wrong decision. Romney's not dumb. Neither is Obama. Both are very well educated. They simply have different methods of solving the same problems. Obummer? Nit-Wit Mitt? Nobama? Flip-flop mitt? Are you serious? Why do we have to ridicule the once sacred position of the presidency? There's no more more respect anymore, its all one big circus to choose which clown is funnier. As much as I'd genuinely love if you were right, that America could just be respectful and we could all work together here, your viewpoint is very naive and idealistic. As much as some people would like to argue, these candidates are markedly different in their opinions. America is extremely divided over these opinions. To wish that millions of Americans could simply get along and decide not to make any disparaging remarks towards the other candidate is to deny reality. It's something we should all strive to. Shame though, elections brings out the ugliness out of people. Nice, kind people I know turned very bitter and quick-mouthed this (and last) election. I don't hold it against them though, but we should have the civility we typically do have in our daily lives. As for the election, I'm glad Obama won. Not screaming with joy but with a nice content. Romney, a good choice, just didn't have my confidence to help the working class, minorities, and people going through education. He probably was a better choice for economic improvement, but as many conservatives can't understand, the immigrant minorites yearn for a more socialist government. Republicans have to get the Americans for America outta their agenda, that won't work anymore. "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is." To wish that millions of Americans could simply get along and decide not to make any disparaging remarks towards the other candidate is to deny reality. Idealistic? This was the very setting that existed a century ago in the very same country in which you live. People voted and they weren't ashamed of who they voted for. Look at Romney supporters- some of them genuinely believe they are dumb because they voted for the man who lost. This is an entirely recent phenomenon that spawned shortly after WWII and has been in place ever since. You also seem to hold the opinion that America cannot be changed for the better. It it people like me who point out the wrongdoings of a people who are the primary source for change for the better in a nation. If we simply said, for example, "oh well, let's stop fighting these multi-national corporations and let them step all over us," it would spell disaster. We must, absolutely must, have people who are willing and able to point out problems with this country- for it is the only way that we may address them and then fix these problems. Finally, America is not as divided as you have been lead to believe. Perhaps you should do some research on this subject before you assume these things. Take a look at this paper which examines two-party versus mutli-party political systems. Two-party systems promote far more moderation than multi-party systems. The mainstream news that you have been listening to will tell you otherwise. The truth is, the amount of political bipartisanship has remained somewhat steady over the entire course of US history. You think the Westboro Church is bad? How about the early 20th century neo-confederate groups ? The white sumpremist organisations of the 19th century? The Christian Identity groups of the 18th century? The fact is, extremists have always existed throughout American history - the fact that they can now broadcasts themselves to the world via television has led you to the delusion that these extremist groups are growing exponentially. Randox
So in related news, since Cracked was right about that random stuff actually being able to predict the elections (apparently), I'd like to go ahead right now and say the Republicans are winning the next presidential election. Now the wait to see if it pans out again. Also, the joke about republicans getting off work would be a lot funnier if I didn't think you were sincere. I feel like a more appropriate emotion than happiness and sadness would be relief and dread. The people who voted for the president get can rest easy knowing that the person who best represents them is in office for another 4 years. The people who voted for anyone else on the other hand get to look forward to another 4 years of complaining to anyone who will listen about the president, and not having their chosen one calling the shots for them. Supporting Muslims is a such a terrible, dirty thing to do. What next--the commie Russians?! I don't understand this notion of cutting ties with Israel. Both candidates could barely have emphasised their commitment to Israel more. They spent half of the final debate talking about how important Israel was to US foreign policy concerning the Middle East. Anyone who claims the US is breaking off from supporting Israel is showing just how blind and ignorant they are to what the policies actually were, from both candidates. | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |
sees_all1
The east coast is still in ruins, the unemployment rate is still high, the labor force participation rate is at an all time low, the United State's foreign policy for dealing with Islamic Extremism certainly is lacking, the security of the U.S. - Mexico boarder still leaves something to be desired, America is still 16 trillion dollars in debt and is still spending the stimulus every year for trillion dollar deficits. The feds are still flooding the market with dollars to try to kick-start inflation, 47 million people are still on food stamps, and we may have just reached the point where more people are dependent on government and are voting "to get theirs" than are voting for love of country. Lead from behind. The rise of the Muslim Brotherhood. Seems like everyone loves to complain about how religion and politics shouldn't mix and that political candidates should basically act as atheists once elected.Well, guess what the Middle East is doing. That's what America is doing too. Religion and the various flavours of Christianity have become increasingly involved in American politics, although I'm not sure why that has come about. After all, I've heard a lot about Romney being a Mormon. That should be irrelevant to his ability to be the POTUS, but the fact remains it's a significant factor and talking point. There's an analogy about removing specks from other people's eyes while ignoring the log in your own eye that's probably relevant here. But yes, Obama needs to sort that out. This is the tragedy of the American electoral system: It's not that you have to be good to get re-elected, you just have to be better than one other party. ~ W ~
