Umanyar
So I thought I might start up cooking again, because I know you used to be able to make a profit once you hit rocktails. Question is, would I still be able to profit, and if so, how would I go about leveling up with my cooking guantlets?
Drazhor
Well, if you want to manage a little profit while you're working your way towards rocktails, other types of fish are the best bet for you. I personally cooked tuna from around 80 cooking until 92, then sharks onwards (Rocktails weren't released at that point!)So the idea may be generally the same, but check the price of Raw fish vs. Cooked fish on the Grand Exchange! Platinum_Myr
I would do monks until around level 91-92 when I would start sharks with gauntlets. Remember to use cooking urns, cook on a bonfire (+10% bonus) and use the cooking gauntlets. You'll stop burning rocktails I think only 1 level past the unlock level if you have the gauntlets on. With urns, the bonfire, and the dwarven army axe (gives +3 xp bonus per item) you can get around 250-300k/hr at rocktails depending on how much time you waste if you're semi-afk (maybe even more, I don't know) It should still be up around the 200k/hr with monks/sharks or more. It will go by very fast :) Maxed since Sunday, January 9th, 2014Completionist since Wednesday, June 4th, 2014
Tainaith
I wouldn't worry too much about profiting with cooking; it's not exactly a money-making skill. If you get tired of doing monks/swords/etc., you can start Sharks at 90 or 91, with cooking gauntlets you will rarely burn them. If you're particularly worried about it, just wait until 92. Rocktails stop burning at 94 with Cooking Gauntlets, and you profit (assuming buy/sell at mid) around 80 gp each (2240 per inventory). *99 Cooking Achieved: 4th of July, 2009--99 Fishing Achieved: Christmas Day, 2009--99 Woodcutting Achieved: May 4th, 2010--99 Magic Achieved: September 11, 2010--99 Fletching Achieved: June 14th, 2012--2000 Total Achieved: July 2nd, 2012**1100 Dominion Bosses defeated*Heroes of Newerth player -- IGN: SaveTehPandaStarCraft 2 player -- IGN: plasmaJelly
Umanyar
Where is the best place to find consistent bonfires to cook on? Just the GE, or somewhere else, dedicated to the fires? Also, how should I go about using the urns? Just leave one in my inventory until it fills up or what?

Personally, I keep 2 urns in my inventory so I don't have to worry about my first one running out mid inventory. Just transport it away right before banking and pick out a fresh one before the next batch. I'm sure there is a better method, but I like it.Make sure you wield the upgraded dwarven axe since it gives some bonus xp per rocktail (2 I think).
