dungeoneering is sooo broken

recently got back into runescape, gotta say, what, the [bleep] is with dungeoneering.

hardly anyone seems to play it. even when you do finally make a party it takes a ridiculously long time to actually clear floors

of course you can solo, but thats just as more painful imo

there seems to be no way of legitimately train the skill unless you are in one of those dungeoneering clans or something, but some people simply don't have the combat level, skill level, or time investment to do that :/

meh, maybe its just me

To be blunt, it is just you. There are tons of casual DG'ing clans where you can learn at your own pace and clear floors in under 30min or less (many of the higher skilled clans like DGS clear floors in 15min sub or shorter). But dungeoneering requires time invested to learn the skill to be good. If you're not able to then don't bother with it unless you're buying floors.

But it's seriously not that difficult. You just got to apply yourself for more than a day or two's worth of dungeoneering on the (horrible) themed worlds.

ive never seen or heard of these clans, all thats advertised is this leeching shit

dungeoneering wasn't so bad back when you didn't need to take 1 hour to find a team

Well think it through - if the themed worlds are absolutely horrible, why would they advertise there and get the absolutely horrible people to join their clans? >_> You know that doesn't make sense.

Even on the themed worlds it never takes me an hour to find a team - just how low is your dungeoneering level?

I generally find a team within 10 mins and clear large occs in under 30 mins, I think you just need to practice and develop dging skills :P

lol, my dungeoneering level is incredibly low, which i guess may be the problem

im sure its decent for people who are already a high level, but for someone trying to start dungeoneering without incredibly high combat/current dungeoneering, its retarded

ranging is also incredibly bad

i looked around on the forums and they all need 70+ dung or sumshit

what if you don't have that yet? solo till you get to that point? i mean wtf

You could, instead of buying,, stick it it for the early times when it's slow, get better, then enjoy the speed at higher levels.

But of course, you can take the easy option of buying.

I used to think the same, then I learned to rush the lower floors and do my highest 2-3 with large 5 person teams. Once I started doing this I found dg a lot more bareable and started getting somewhere, I am only 70 but that was my goal for a stream neck. It really doesn't take long to learn how to do it well considering how good some of the rewards are you can get from it.

Me behave? Seriously? As a child I saw Tarzan almost naked, Cinderella arrived home from a party after midnight, Pinocchio told lies, Aladin was a thief, Batman drove over 200 miles an hour, Snow White lived in a house with seven men, Popeye smoked a pipe and had tattoos, Pac man ran around to digital music while eating pills that enhanced his performance, and Shaggy and Scooby were mystery solving hippies who always had the munchies. The fault is not mine! if you had this childhood and loved it put this in your signature!

k it all good, i just buy floors now

1 mill to leech a floor is far better than waiting around all day for a party

Buying floors is definitely a possibility, but if you have low stats your money might be better spent elsewhere. Remember there are things like Penguin points, Tears of Guthix, Troll Invasion, JoT, Spin Lamps that can easily boost your skill. Most people actually recommend that's what you do until a certain level (at least unlocking occs).

One could also try and learn from experienced players by watching them during a bought leech floor.

It's a good way to learn how to fight new bosses, how to do certain puzzle rooms.. what equipment to use, etc, and above all how they communicate.

Learn how 'keyers' give commands, and learn how to act upon them. Watch how the map 'unfolds' during the floor, try predicting which will be the main paths, keep track of where key doors are etc.

For example, a key door found really early near base, but only opens up after half the map is done, is often likely to lead to boss. Learn that from experience from skill door you can often tell if its a bonus path or critical path, etc..

And above all: With how the exp system works, know which floors are worth bothering with and which are not (i.e. which you should rush).

personally i just didnt care, my sanity is more important than some mills.

i don't have high enough melee stats to solo smalls at a decent speed, (though i am training them), and ranged/mage is virtually broken in dung.

Meh, try it with the appropriate armors etc. If you want to judge mage, get robes and a decent staff. If you want to judge ranged, get a hexhunter bow.

In his defense, mage and range are broken in dg. The only good ranged weapon is the hexhunter bow, which is extremely rare (well, not really anymore, but he probably won't get one for a long time). Magic is less broken, but it's only useful in 5:5 larges – there aren't enough mageable monsters in solos.
