Jagex: Thinking of Gambling Alternatives?

Is that your personal screenshot? Because people could have faked that just to cause fake speculation or something. Considering they removed dicing/horsing, I don't think they'll support gambling, even if they made a "scam free" system.

Gambling will always be in Runescape. There's no way to get rid of it.

Get rid of dice, they go to flowers. Get rid of flowers, they'll go to random emotes (seal, dungeoneering etc.). Get rid of random emotes, gamblers could always bet on how much damage someone deals with a hit. Just calculate the max hit, adjust the payout rates accordingly, and have the gamblers join your dungeoneering party so they can see your inventory/gear to prevent cheating.

The best Jagex can do is make an "official" gambling casino. At least this way, the players themselves won't be profiting off the gambling, like the dice and flower hosts do. It seems 90% (asspull statistic) of the rich n00bs I see nowadays gained their wealth from dicing/flowering. In other words, they contribute nothing to the economy, just passing around money, essentially scamming people with rigged odds. A casino would work as a money sink, and the chance of some lucky player striking it rich would be alluring enough to keep people coming back and "keep them out of trouble".

"Official" Runescape gambling is the lesser of two evils when compared to player-hosted gambling. It's really the only option at this point.

scamming kids contributes the economy. Because they go back to mining ores or hunting dragons again to make up the lost money

.... or from buying GP, or scamming other people, or botting themeselves. Honestly, there is a very small portion of income from people who lost gambles and decide to make it back in an honest way.

That is a very optimistic way to think, but I believe it's a bit blind. Mining ore and killing dragons for money is a thing of the far past.

Since all Flowers will be Red after EOC(I believe so anyways), it was only a matter of time before something like this happened.

What I hope they do is make flowers show as red to other players, but stay colored to the owner, because I do like all the choices :)

I thought they were only red for the duration of the beta, because of all of the gamblers.

Might as well keep it if it deters gamblers.

It's not my screenshot; I reposted from another forum for additional exposure (though I added commentary). I doubt it's fake. Considering Jagex's stance toward micro-transactions, I can see them introducing a profitable (for Jagex) form of gambling while also reducing GP inflation, which they apparently stated they were looking to do. I can't see why they wouldn't accept gambling, especially as recent updates seem to be trending down this route (e.g. SOF), and Jagex's public stance doesn't count for much anyway. And if they can monetize it, all the more incentive for them. :P

Out of curiosity do you have a source for that?

Surprised that "I reposted from another forum for additional exposure" is credible, but saying that it's fake is not.

Neither one is really credible, but it would be nice to have a source either way.

I retrieved it from the RuneScape sub-reddit: reddit.com/r/runescape. I didn't want to specify at first, because I'm not sure if that sort of advertising's allowed. If it's relevant, then sure.
