Jagex, do you even care.?

the voice of reason

Considering this http://www.runescape...m/rip-runescape

I doubt they care

That is my favorite comedy website. Unless they're not being ironic, in which case that website is horribly pathetic.

I'll let you in on a lil something I guess. Thou have to say thanks for the feedback as i've had to keep corners of the site stretched and horrible to see what happens and how people react to it. Reason i'm saying this now also is because Jagex know who I am now ^_^

Thou it's actually thanks to all the whining I created it :P Just wish I had more time on my hands to get every peice of content up behind the scenes while noone really took it seriously, most of all Jagex.

I posted that link here as a small tester to see what would happen. From all the site stats from over 10,000 views in the short space of 2mths without it being advertised and quite a lot of people emailing me that standing up alone was a good job and to keep going . I decided to continue with it and work on pages behind the scenes while waiting for EoC rush to die down and as quite a bits happened irl.

It served it's purpose to see what the trolls would do/think and i'm surprised it didn't get that much negativity from trolls aswell in all honesty. So ill update it whenever I have the time.

You can't run a new product/website without a trial run or audience. Stats on the site are quite interesting the amount of time/pages people spend reading even if quite a bit is quickly chucked up and pieced together

But I'm happy you have a new website to goto to have a giggle at!

Man, i loved this game for so many years. Played since 2004 and quit in early 2012, it's a pity to see it dying out now. I still remember playing this game for hours after school, spending like 2 months picking flax for my first abyssal whip and dragon plate legs in seer's village. Too many good memories in this game, but now there are too many unnecessary updates. Jagex did not respect the feelings of the players and EoC was just the nail in the coffin. R.I.P Runescape.

Thanks for posting that URL to the interview. it was the first time i saw that and I enjoyed reading it. I do agree that botters do have a huge impact in this game and I do understand that fixing it aint easy. What i would like to see is JaGex beeing a bit more open about this.. Showing us were they stand in the war with the bots. At the moment people are making their own conclusions about it. Simply because Jagex can't give them facts, they will look for their own. And that is something that irritates me more then the bots itselfs tbh.. As example, few weeks ago I was recovering from surgery.. Wasn't able to go to work so I was 2 weeks off and fished for hours and hours a day. I did not talk much in game.. I mostly was watching tv (serious request 3fm) or didn't had energy to start chats

* a dutch project were 3 radio dj's made 12.2 mill and donated it to the red cross

And people kept accusing me as a bot. I also got flamed several times for beeing a no lifer simply because i was wearing the 10 year veteran cape. I guess they tried to make me answer them. That actually ended up in letting me report several guys for insulting (And I dont report that fast..) Just saying guys.. Bots are indeed a problem. But avoid making it your own problem. Getting muted isn't really helpfull in your way to fight bots. (not even sure if it is your road to cross but whatever)

A lot of people simply follow a youtube video about it. And go hand in hand with the opinions from others while they dont even know what the problem is. Put your energy in something you can have control on. And don't be an ass to the fair players among us that disagree with your opinion simply because they have one opinion for their own..

ones again, i do hope that jagex will be a bit more open like i mentioned befor. That will hopefully win some faith among us. I'm also curious about the law.. i mean, how far can Jagex go? what is allowed for them to use against it? Some1 knows were to find an article about that?

rsn changed for a short period of time to: GM Dutch

R.I.P Runescape.

You go type that in the Notes in-game.

Okay, I did just for sheer, morbid curiosity and it auto-changes the note to "wanna bet?" Nice, gave me a laugh.

I don't think they should be encouraging gambling like that.

Delaying and identifying bots would be very easy.

Just use a capcha system. Scrambled text only a human can read, implement them as randoms.

Bots can theoretically read them if they recognize the pattern or there is a limited amount of possible capcha variants that they are on the look out for. This can be rectified by just changing the capchas in a significant way every few months.

This was done in classic but the system was very poor and no work was done to improve it.

Edit: My profession is software developer and I've been working with people developing "anti-capcha" technology, and can tell you how difficult it is for the professionals of the field to do. Runescape bot creators are typically hobbyists at most.

This. Brilliant, however, I guarantee you that it has been suggested before, or that JaGEX has thought about it.

However, news flash, JaGEX makes money by keeping bots. Members who bot pay for memberships (duh). And that's a pretty sizable amount I'd guess. And if JaGEX "takes up the war against bots" they could implement what you suggested and I would guess it'd not be very difficult. But they would lose thousands of members and only maybe get the good PR.

But if they pretend to war against bots, they get somewhat good PR, bot members stay, and they don't have to really do anything. Thus making money for less work the goal of nearly any business.

This used to be common knowledge but it seems at least to me that Jagex are actually trying to save their game for the people that enjoy it with the RS07 stuff being introduced, I wouldn't be overly surprised if they finally made a solid effort to remove bots. The (Silly) law suit threats were when I think Jagex stepped up their game, that kind of thing might ACTUALLY discourage a person from botting unlike previous PR stunts.

It's difficult to say how removal of bots would effect the game, people that use bots may just start playing legit instead, I'm absolutely sure there is a "If you can't beat them, join them" mentality among casual botters, so these would be relieved if anything.
