Runescape used to be very much involved with their players, letting us vote on the changes we wanted instead of just adding them. I feel like nowadays, as the world economy plummets, their focus has shifted to only gaining new players and increasing membership fees for more money. The opposite will be happening most likely as players are quitting the game and they are losing money. The only thing Jagex really can do is almost rewind their updates back to before the armor update and start letting players vote on content again. The SoF and Solomon's general store are of no concern to me because I honestly can't really care how people will spend their hard earned dollars on spins that rarely give anything good or cosmetic items with no real value. But the rest of runescape should be focused on what the players really want. Jagex, bring back voting!

Consider this supported by me, a 100% F2P Player. BTW, I hope Jagex takes F2P votes with their polls as well. :)

I would not trust players to dictate updates. You as an individual might be level headed, or Tip.it as a group might be slightly level-headed, but the population as a whole is fickle, temperamental, short-sighted little cretins who shouldn't be put within 10ft of a means to make an impacting decision. You've got to have faith in the devs to balance the game.

They've been taking some player suggestions at record amounts compared to the "dark ages" of no communication or taking user feedback from 2008-2010ish. They still goof a lot, but they haven't destroyed the balance yet. Hell the EoC is actually going to address a lot of imbalance, especially if it keeps improving.

I would love to see more voting about the game's development; But I think Kimberly got a point here. A big part of the community don't know what they want. And the developers keep the game balanced. Also, we got the EoC BETA.

I agree with this. There's usually a difference between what's better for the long term health of the game and what players might want. This is all hypothetical, but If 70 percent of the players voted that old rares should be dropped again, it pleases 70 percent right? So it's the right thing to do? The economic effects would be devastating, people would likely vote yes out of greed and not think about the consequences (people that might be new, not have a lot of money), and it would be a disaster. I would say there are still a decent amount of people who would like to take runescape back to the way it looked in 2006 as well. There's a reason why Runescape has lasted so long in my opinion, it's because of the balance between the players and the creators. It might not always seem that way, but think about when they brought back free trade and the wilderness, and when they did the first bot nuke. It may have taken a while, but they listened to the players. Jagex are one of the better community involved publishers in my opinion, especially when it comes to the forums and those Q&A videos they do. I'm not saying they shouldn't take feedback, if they did a poll asking which update they would like sooner, say between two quests, that's fine, but I think of Jagex like the people we elect for congress. We "elect" them by playing their game, and stay as long as they have our interests in mind.

To a point Jagex let's use vote for what we want. We got to vote for EoC.. but the people that didnt want EoC didnt bother going on and taking the survey. The new updates are passed on what people post on the forums for what they want in the future
