About the Account

Hey Tip.It!

Just a little obligatory information about myself and the current account.

I've been an on and off player of Runescape since Classic, with many different accounts and goals over the years. This latest account was recovered some time in early September after I felt the urge to check up on the game after two years or so away. I happily spent my 'trial period' durdling around at Runespan, before giving into the desire to experience more of RS and to get around those pesky trade limits and item stack sizes.

I'm an undergraduate economics major and between a job, coursework, a boyfriend and family commitments, I don't have as much time to play as I used to, which brings me to the main goal of my playtime - Farming! It's a skill I've always enjoyed, but never mastered, and is ideal for my playstyle; logging in for a tree run before lectures, then an hour or two in the evening/afternoon. Oddly enough, I despise gardening in real life - the cactus in my apartment died from dehydration. :?

Song of the Day

I'm a big music fan, and listen to wide variety of artists and genres. My tastes lean toward the political, so warning in advance. With this section, I can share my favourites and/or convert you.

The Main Goal

The core goal is very simple:

nontrimmedfarmingcape.png

Yuppers, an untrimmed Farming Cape. As someone who isn't a huge fan of grinding out skills (nor do I generally have the time to) but would love to have a Skill Cape (gotta to complete that outfit, right?), Farming is the perfect skill to shoot for, as I outlined above. It's also relatively uncommon, which is a nice bonus; however, I do love the green on the trimmed highlights, so something easy and relaxing like Woodcutting is definitely on the cards some time in the future.

According to the Tip.It calculator, with two regular Tree and a singular Fruit Tree run per day, I should average around 75k Farming xp a day; excluding miscellanious herb runs and effigies (which I'll obviously try and do as much as I can, though I'm still not entirely certain how they work), which means it should take me around 5 months to achieve my goal; RL permitting.

Progress

flourishing.png

Tertiary Goals

No, not my degree GPA.

Summoning

flourishing.png

As a 'summoning pure', I think 57 is something of a watershed, with access to the various Graahks, Ibis and so forth. Obviously, I'd be delighted to have it higher, but with relying on SoF spins, penguins, bonfires and so forth, it's a slow prospect.

Having achieved 57 with ease; the new goal is 63. It opens up money making opportunities via the Cobra special, and some slow XP. The option to repeat penguins and Troll Invasion definitely speeds this up if I'm lucky with my spins.

Mining

flourishing.png

I very much enjoy Star Hunting (shout out to Star Find friends chat), and 61 gives me access to Size 6 Stars along with the Dragon Pickaxe to bap rocks more efficiently.

Having acquired my Dragon Pickaxe, I'm keen to continue bapping Stars - not only is it social and great XP, but I acquire bucketloads of Gems & subsequently bolt tips and I'm keen to see my collection grow! 70 is a nice, well rounded number, and is a halfway point to 77 (for concentrated ore) and gives me access to size 7 Stars!

Woodcutting

flourishing.png

As above, but this time in the case of Evil Trees (thanks Eviltreefind!). I'd also love to have access to a Raven or Spirit Tree - which means that I have to cut things, rather than managing my kingdom.

As I'm hunting Evil Trees religiously every day, I'd like to have 75 in order to get Evil Magic ones and better rewards - fingers crossed for spirit seeds/raven/god bird eggs too!

Slayer

flourishing.png

This is purely for vanity, as I think the Harpie Bug Swarm lantern is one of the best looking shields for skillers ~ I may be able to pie to this, but am unsure.

Dungeoneering

flourishing.png

A Scroll of Life would be very useful for Farming, and a higher total level is always a good thing. I'm a little unsure about this skill, but I'll read up on it.

Minigames and D&Ds'

I'm not an enormous fan on just grinding out levels. As such, a lot of my ingame time is spent doing various dailies, weeklies, minigames and so forth for the delicious variety, cosmetic rewards and XP. This hasn't been a side of Runescape I'd explored prior to reaccessing this account; so I've been absolutely enchanted by the depth of content and social aspects of the communities which have sprung up around them.

This is a rather exhaustive list and will take some (RL) time; but as I mentioned in the Main Goal section, that's something I have in spades. This section might be a little unorganised, but I plan to to tidy it up fairly soon. So as to not overwhelm you with hours of scrolling, I've hidden the things in neat little boxes.
D&Ds]
I really enjoy this D&D, as it forces to level all the skills (much though it annoys me to gather the Hunting & Agility ones!) I'm not sure if I'll cope with completing the Statue, but we'll see.

9096.gif 4/30 Collected
I love Fish Flingers, though it took me a while to get the hang of it! It's great Fishing XP, and the rewards are very snazzy. Getting all the Tackleboxes and such will take an age; it's something to work towards.
The goal here is to do 50 Evil Trees! While they're capped at 2 per day, I'll mostly do them when I find the spare time; mostly after I have 61 Woodcut. I'll list the type & rewards here for posterity and interest. :^_^:

#1 Yew, 100%: 65 Yew Logs, Easy Clue Scroll #13 #25 #37 #49

#2 Oak, ~40%: Misc Schlock #14 #26 #38 #50

#3 Maple, 100%: 80 Maple Logs, 12 Felstalk Seeds #15 #27 #39

#4 Yew, 70%: 50 Yew Logs, 3 Snap Seeds #16 #28 #40

#5 #17 #29 #41

#6 #18 #30 #42

#7 #19 #31 #43

#10 #22 #34 #46

#11 #23 #35 #47

#12 #24 #36 #48
As with the Trees, but here I'll list what and where I've tagged them - I try to get 2 or 3 a wave, but it varies depending on how many Wilderness ones there are - I'm still learning. ^^;

#1 #13 #25 #37 #49

#2 #14 #26 #38 #50

#3 #15 #27 #39

#4 #16 #28 #40
This was very easy to complete - I managed to guess higher or lower while working on an Agility rock.
Minigames]
This isn't a minigame I've played much, other than for the odd daily challenge. My understand is that it's cost efficient Smithing XP, which isn't a skill I hugely enjoy, but it's relaxingly afk.

11006.gif Favour: 3/100%
After doing a little research, I've figured out that it's possible to get Flame Gloves at level 3. This requires 92 Firemaking, so is obviously a long term goal, but I figure it'd be an unusual achievement and an attractive glove option; again, playing dress up!

Firemaking: 76/92
There's absolutely no way I'd ever achieve a professional cape (or even a hobbyist cape for that matter) - given I have no desire to max out, it's simply not a question. However, there are a few items which look particularly snazzy! As this is a minigame which takes a *chunk* of time, even playing with friends, I'm not going to finish this section off any time soon.

10244.gif [ ]

10238.gif [ ]
This isn't a minigame I plan to play soon, given it's high requirements, especially Agility - one of my more loathed skills. As I don't have much interest in getting huge Herblore levels (no real use for Overloads or Extremes!), it's more included for the sake of completeness than anything else.
This is a minigame which I love! While the tabs are less useful for me given the ability to Graahk/Balloon Route Natures & Laws respectively, the robes are lovely cosmetic items, and an Omni Talisman staff is one of the prettiest weapon options available to skillers! Given my relatively high Runecrafting level, I'm hoping to have an edge in competitive play, but 50/50ing is definitely an option if I'm feeling lazy.
Definitely the premier minigame for Skillers, this is one of the largest incentives for me to train Hunter and Herblore; Juju potions need no explanation at all, and the Witchdoctor outfit is not only good looking, but also very useful within the minigame. I'm hoping to qualify for most of the requirements by the time I hit 91 Farming, as it's settling in for the long haul from there, and more herb runs will significantly boost my income, which will probably be running low by then.
While I understand Ibis Gear can be frustrating elusive, I'll be exclusively training Thieving via PP from 71 onwards; so fingers crossed, eh? I'm unsure if their's an attack requirement to wield the Sceptre, but I'd hope not.

11556.gif [ ]

11557.gif[ ]

11558.gif[ ]
I've never played this minigame before, but I understand it's fairly socialable, and decent enough XP. As I'll mostly be doing Fish Flingers for XP, the main draw of this minigame is the Shark Tooth necklace; another cosmetic item (I'll definitely be getting an assist in order to craft it. ;) )

11615.gif [ ]
Mini Quests]
Due to familiars and Runespan, there's no real need for me to complete this minigame. However, it's short, and the option to recoil a small pouch is nice c:

3480.gif[ ]
Great for Transportation, especially to get from Taverly to Tree Gnome Village for Farming runs. I've already unlocked every route! ^^;
This slots in nicely with my goal of 33 Slayer; access to Flippers is darn cool. The hat also completes the theme of the ones I have from Hunt for Red Raktauber.

4356.gif [ ]

4355.gif [ ]
If they ever release the Kudos Island, I want to be ready! I've gotten the 50 for the Varrock Easy tasks, so I may as well get 101!

Kudos: 103/101

Nectarine's RS07 Adventures

So, after taking a break from RS over the summer holidays, having gotten throroughly fed up with Yelps and the new afkable interface, I was excited to learn about Jagex's plan to potentially release an independent series of 'old school' servers! As someone who's made a lot of pures in my time, and who really enjoys skilling, this seems ideal ~ an opportunity to play with mechanics and graphics which I've always been fond of.

While the community will arguably differ, I'm hoping that a fresh start and forced interaction due to the lack of a Grand Exchange will mean that it's at the least, more close knit. Depending on how things go online and irl, I'll mostly likely be playing primarily on these new servers, so it seems appropriate to create a new section of the blog dedicated to my journey in this brave new world.

The (Tentative) Plan

I've always been a keen, if occasional PKer - I used to be much more so, but the introduction of powerful spec weapons and summoning meant that I couldn't and did not want to compete in that PvP P2P environment, with connectivity issues not helping either. So, along with everyone and their dog, I'd like to make a low defence Pure!

Training will obviously be a lot slower initally, which isn't a problem - as I, unlike a good chunk of the Pure/PVP community, have always enjoyed Skilling and Questing!

Once a relatively stable economy has been created (I give it a few months), I'd also like to delve into merchanting again ~ which I was a dab hand at in 2005 or so.

Goals

Skillwise

As self sufficiency will be the word of the day (or month), there's going to be a good focus on gathering skills ~ doing so for both supplies and quests. While I'll be training everything but Defence and possibly Prayer, the following is a list of the most pressing and desirable!

44 Runecrafting

32 Farming

61 Mining

76 Fishing

76 Cooking

35 Agility

58 Hunter

55 Magic

Itemwise

Mithril RFD Gloves []

Climbing Boots []

Unholy Book []

Dragon Scimitar []

V. Dragonhide Chaps []

Ava's Accumulator []

Magic Shortbow []

Guthix Cape []

Ancient Magicks []

Bones to Peaches []

Amulet of Glory []

Rune Pickaxe []

Rune Hatchet []

Finishing thoughts and musings

I'll be filling this in over the next couple of days; I'm essentially very excited over the prospect of a fresh start. While I'm apprehensive about what this indicates for Jagex's longterm financial stability, I'm still ecstatic at the chance to start afresh and relive parts of the game I always enjoyed. Nostalgia aside, it's great that Jagex has chosen to listen to a vocal (minority) within it's playerbase; even if a fair proportion of voters play casually, there'll still be a solid core of gamers - much like RSC, though hopefully with less macroing.

We'll see.

[hide=Update from initial blog.]

Phwa, it's been a mammoth few days. I managed to finally get the framework for the blog done, and achieve two short term goals - 61 Mining & 57 Summoning. I unfortunately missed both level up pictures, as I foolishly wasn't using Swiftkit at the time.

In terms of real life, I've been busy with exam/study for university, which is going rather well.

Well today was an all around success - I got a few levels and some dailies out of the way.

61 Herblore from my daily challenge (10 Weapon Poison).

dm7g50.png

I did a few Fish Flinger games, managing to get 2 Fishing levels and another piece of the outfit.

5d8n4.png

Finally, with the help of a Farming Pendant, I managed another level.

My chat is always on, and I'm up for making new friends - so feel free to shoot me a line.

Hopped on after exams today and toddled around for a few hours; managing several levels. I've burning through those short term goals; so I may have to brew new ones - questing, perhaps?

I've also noticed that RS seems rather unpopulated; but perhaps that's just compared to BXPW?

Skilling accounts are always fun to read about. Good luck with your goals. 99 Farming won't be easy.

If you don't want to miss level up pics when you're not using SwiftKit, I recommend Gadwin Printscreen. It's free and every time you press 'print screen' it saves the screenshot to a folder you can specify. I use it all the time.

THE place for all free players to connect, hang out and talk about how awesome it is to be F2P.

So, Kaida is the real version of every fictional science-badass? That explains a lot, actually...

It's been a casual few days - I've gotten various miscellanious levels from questing (now up to 50 QP!) and varied Star/Tree hunts. I also handed in my Strange Rocks for the week, so am 10% of the way there!

76 Farming.

v5jol0.png

2 Construction levels from the daily challenge (120 Oak Toyboxes).

I'm also getting pretty close to 1000 total, which is a pretty big milestone. Hopefully I'll get there tomorrow.

Enjoyable day so far - got to hunt Penguins twice thanks to the new Spin Rewards; almost got me 60 Summoning!

25f82f8.png

I also managed to find all my rocks for the week; and handed in all but 1 pair for some nice XP (5 Days until the next rock).

so3ib8.png

I'm thinking about setting an overall level goal; as I'm burning through skills via rock hunting, tree/star find and quest rewards. We'll see though.

Had a lazy day; got a lot (of RS playing) done. I managed a fistful of quests, so I'm now around 65 QP or so. I also got assorted misc levels, and spent a lot of my remaining playtime doing Evil Trees/Stars (got a repeat ticket for each!)

A Summoning Daily challenge meant I could squeak in another level - 60!

2vcf8kg.png

Making steady progress farming; can't wait for 80.

f4dwld.png

I'm a little worried about Jagex implementing EoC, as from what I've heard, it's not sufficiently tested. We'll see D:

Sorry I've been a little slow to update. Been busy IRL, and had some PC issues.

Finally managed to get Some like it Cold done; I love the penguin series, so it was a lot of fun.

I got another Farming level.

2mhhgxv.png

And I saw this most excellent name on my morning herb run - rather jealous. <3:

I also handed in my Strange Rocks for the week, now having a total of 4. I'm currently spending today doing Evil Trees/Stars and hunting for moar rocks, as per usual.

Also, I feel like I'm going slowly insane talking to myself here - you're welcome to post, you know?

Thanks for that - I've been using for a bunch of stuff other than RS.

I managed to get a fair few levels while rock hunting today; am edging closer to 1100 Total.

I got 68 Woodcutting while doing Evil Trees, along with a blue egg - I've been hoping for a Raven's Egg, but they're meant to be rather rare.

Edit: Also noticed that I'm in the top 100k players for Farming c:

I managed a few Summoning levels also, with the help of penguins and a prismatic amulet.

I also got 70 Woodcutting at Ivy whilst watching Breaking Bad (damn, it's a gooood show).

I'm liking the new animations for the EoC release - very smooth. The lack of bots is also nice, but makes me wonder a little about the overall game (folks playing has dropped by about 60k!).

Anyway, I've gotten a few levels in the last couple of days, despite being sidetracked by MtGO :3

82 Farming!

Finished The Feud just before the update; recoiling them bosses was hard!

I'm also edging ever closer to 1.1k total. I might get there this week, when I try out Dungeoneering!

Nice blog, I'll be following your progress. You'll probably find dungeoneering interesting, although it will result in the end of that line of '1's in your combat skills.

How do you like economics? That was my undergraduate degree.

Well, I think Slayer is technically a combat skill too c:

I love economics; specifically the public policy side of things - macro, cost benefit analysis, market failure and so on. I'm considering taking another year and doing a PolSci major as well, as that's my other academic/career interest and it ties in quite nicely. That said, Levitt & Silver have gotten me rather interested in quant.

Well, I'm back from my prolonged break ~ excited at the prospect of the legacy servers. I resubscribed in order to vote, and am just waiting for my PIN to reset in order to get back to Farm Runs, daily challenges and casual skilling.

I'm, uh, sure you all missed me greatly. :3>
