World War Z

Don't get me wrong, I'd have loved to have seen a movie adaptation. Unfortunately, from the trailer it looks like they just slapped the name on something completely different.

I can't actually watch the trailer at the moment, if it's just a generic zombie survival-type thing, what a waste.

It's even worse than that.

Running zombies, that form a human (zombie?) ladder to scale a wall. Among other things. Also, the whole idea of having many different viewpoints over a 10-20 year conflict has apparently been scrapped. As far as we've seen, it's mostly about one guy.

Multiple story lines spread out over a long period of time is a lot easier to do in a book than in a movie. It's not surprising that they chose to focus more on one character.

THE place for all free players to connect, hang out and talk about how awesome it is to be F2P.

So, Kaida is the real version of every fictional science-badass? That explains a lot, actually...

I've always thought World War Z would have been much better suited to a miniseries on HBO or something like that. I am pretty sure this proves me right.

On a positive note, from the trailer it looks like this might be one of the few films that can depict a zombie apocalypse in a decent scale. The shot where there were so many moving so fast they were more like a jet of water than a bunch of people was pretty awesome.

I still think it will be a good zombie movie (even though I am not a fan of Brad Pitt) but why couldn't they have called it Zombies: Loads of Zombies: Jesus Christ Look at Them and saved World War Z for a more faithul adaptation?

While it is disappointing that it looks like it is not actually going to be a World War Z movie but instead just a zombie movie, I am not going to judge the movie based on that. This actually could be a good thing, I don't know if a movie that was trying to be like the book would work or not. It seems to me if they actually did a movie based on the book they would have to cut down the amount of people that it focused on to not confuse people too much, since there is only about 2 hours to work with. Then the individual stories would possibly even be cut as well.

It could be done two different ways on TV though. First would be introducing many in the first episode, and having each episode consist of a story or two from those people, and getting the other's perspective each episode (in order for you to remember them mostly). The other way is completely independent episodes, where each episode is a story from one character, and you don't worry about the others. That hasn't really been done on a TV show before and would be interesting.

Yeah, just watched it. I'm not at all sure if it's even supposed to be an adaptation of the book. Are we sure it's not an unrelated zombie movie with the same title?

Might not be a bad thing, I'm starting to think it's a lot harder to adapt a good book into a good movie than we'd like to think.

Despite being the draft that got the film green-lit' date=' Straczynski's script was tossed aside, so that production, which was to begin at the start of 2009, was delayed while the script was completely re-written by Matthew Michael Carnahan to set the movie in the present, leaving behind much of the premise of the book to make it more of an action film.

At least we know who to blame for this blasphemy.
