Nekyia
Nekyia's Ultimate Guide to Bathing **NOTE** I think I got a little carried away with this. And since I picked up an extra shift of work yesterday I definitely ran out of time today to write up the guide.I would like to follow 999's rules and submit this before the deadline, so it's not complete! In the end I had to skip most parts of the map and just put in the places with tubs in them since that was the point of the competition.I'll probably finish this later though, since there are a lot more pictures and I had wanted to write more about some of the stuff. All in all this was kind of fun, despite being ridiculously time consuming :P1. Contents:Table of Contents What does it mean to bathe? Types of Baths Locations2. What does it mean to bathe? Over the course of the past week I have witnessed several "experts" claim that their knowledge of the ritual of bathing is the best there is. They have even gone as far to mislead the general public by posting useless(just kidding...but not really, you guys suck ) guides that are all missing at least one bathtub! I feel that as an aficionado of the act of bathing, I must take it upon myself to bestow upon you all a true guide to bathing so that you may never have to remain unwashed. The word bath alone has several different meanings, including but not limited to:The act of soaking or cleansing the body, as in water or stream. The water used for cleansing the body.A bathtub.A bathroom.A building equipped for bathing.A resort providing therapeutic baths; a spa.A large container, used for washing or medically treating the body.So you see, your bathing needs are not limited to being met only by use of a bathtub as they "experts" have led you to believe. I have dedicated my life to finding ways in which bathing can be accomplished, so that you will never have to be restricted to making your way to a bathtub. You can bathe almost anywhere! 3. Types of Baths Throughout my travels there have been many a time where I found myself covered in filth of some sort and needed a way to get clean, but travelling around searching for an unoccupied bathtub was impossible due to time restrictions, etc. (Not to mention that because there are so few bathtubs located around Gielinor that many happen to be in use when you need them. (Please Note: I have tried to leave out all misadventures relating to my search of somewhere to bathe, so as to not offend even further those who I have interrupted during their bathing rituals [people do some pretty interesting things while in the bath]. If I have walked in on you during my making of this guide and you feel that you should be compensated in some way, please contact my lawyer at 1-888-BAT-HING.) Almost anything that provides you with water can be used as a bath. Let me explain the more commonly found types of things I have found that can be used to clean yourself: A. Bathtub A bathtub is most usually what comes to mind when one thinks of taking a bath. It is also usually the most comfortable way to take one! Bathtubs are large containers large enough in size that a person should be able to relax comfortable inside and almost fully submerge themselves in water. B. Sink Sinks are basically a smaller version of a bathtub. Usually held in place much higher up than a bath at a persons waist level or higher. Their main use is for the washing of ones hands and face, as well as the washing of inanimate objects such as dirty dishes. If need be you could bathe fully using a sink with the aid of a bucket [item=1208] or other such object. You could also just splash the water out at yourself, albeit a much less efficient way to do it, but much more fun! C. Fountain Ah, fountains. What I like to call bathtubs for the homeless or uninhibited. There are many fountains located through Gielinor and most are as large, if not larger, than a normal bathtub. They also provide something nice to look at while your bathing rather than the inside of the room your bathtub is located in. So if you have no qualms about being nude and splashing around in front of complete strangers, then this could be your place to bathe. D. Water Pump There are several water pumps across the land that would require no more than a bucket to be turned into a place to get squeaky clean! Just fill up the bucket by pumping the water pumps handle, or you could even try to pump the handle enough that the water flows freely for a short time and you place yourself directly under the spout! However most are quite short, so unless your a dwarf that might not be the best option as you would probably end up sitting in the dirt and not end up very clean in the end. E. Well There are many wells scattered about with plenty of water in their depths just waiting to help some adventure wash up. Again, the use of a bucket here would be an asset. Though if you had a rope you could tie it off and lower yourself right into the water in the well, however the surrounding locals who use the well for drinking water may not be too pleased with you if you choose that option. F. Barrels Barrels are best used for a quick wash if you don't have time to look for a better method of cleaning yourself. They are found almost everywhere and usually full of collected rain water (which I find out because I'm not sure if I have ever seen it rain...) Some barrels are large enough that you may even be able to climb inside of them, though movement would most likely be limited. Most barrels tend to be on the smaller side so a full body wash may not always be possible with them. G. Washbasin There are a handful of washbasins to be used in Gielinor. They are usually slightly larger than a sink but used on the floor like a bath. They do their job in providing a place to bathe though, just in a less convenient and comfortable way than a standard bathtub would. H. Cauldron Cauldrons are something you must use extreme caution with while bathing. Most liquids contained in them cause all sorts of different side effects, most unpleasant. I would suggest using a cauldron as a bath only when absolutely necessary, and if possible speak to someone nearby who may be able to tell you what kind of toll the liquid will take on your body, and you can decide whether it is worth it or not. There are several other things I have found to bathe yourself in that I will describe later on. I have also left out a couple of the ways to bathe in this guide such as a nice bath from your cat Mr. Barnabus McFluffington, as well as one of the main sources of bathing available. That would be using a river, lake, or other body of water to clean yourself. Most likely a lot less hassle than methods involving a bucket, and also extremely easy to find, they are everywhere. I figured that if you cannot find your way to a natural water source such as a river, then you are probably beyond help as it is! 4. Locations I have separated most of my maps by using the different towns in Gielinor. The rest are just whatever worked conveniently for a screenshot ( It took me ages as it is to look for all this stuff and it kind of exhausted me, so you'll have to bear with me if some of the maps are not the most appealing to the eye or if my organizing how this is laid out kind of jumps around). Also, I'm not going to put descriptions under everything, because there really is only so much you can say about sinks, etc! I will try to explain each location using this format: Building: Type of Bath - Location in Building *Note: When I say second floor I mean the floor above the ground floor. [spoiler=Lumbridge] 1. Castle: Sink - Kitchen on Main Floor: 2. Castle: Sink - Basement:You may want to choose the sink on the floor above as this one tends to not get cleaned very often. 3. Victorias House: Sink - Main Floor: 4. Farmer Freds House: Sink - Main Floor: 5. Castle: Fountain - Courtyard: 6. Castle: Fountain - Courtyard: 7. Roddecks House: Barrel - BasementI'm a little unsure how he has a barrel collecting rainwater underground.. 8. Blacksmith: Trough and Barrel - Main Floor 9. Seth Groats House: Water Wheel - Outside, Behind the HouseThis is kind of a natural water source, but using the spray from the back of the water wheel you can basically have a combination of both a bath and a shower! 10. Seth Groats House: Barrels - Outside in Chicken Pen [spoiler=Draynor - 1 Bathtub] 1. Draynor Manor: Bathtub - Second Floor 2. Draynor Manor: Fountain - Courtyard 3. (Well I guess if you're into that kinda thing..) 11. Varrock: Well - East of Aubury's Shop 12. Varrock Museum: Display CasesThere are several display cases with water in them, however you'll have to convince someone at the musuem to let you into the case to bathe in the water, and believe my, that is no easy task! It took me ages before I could finally convince someone to let me bathe in one! [spoiler=Edgeville] 1. Doris' House: Sink - Main Floor 2. Monastery: Fountains - Middle of Courtyard 3. Edgeville: Well - West of Bank 4. Barbarian Village: Well - South of Helmet Shop 5. Black Knights' Fortress: Cauldron - Main Floor 6.
