Level Mod and Skilling in Dungeoneering

I've been reading some dung related and noticed a c6 med SOLO is suppose to take 20 mins (I take around 25-30) and was wondering if people are just rushing it (no bonus rooms, pot for skill doors)

Which brings me to level mod and skilling.

Is trying to get the max 10% from level mod a good thing. How do I know during the floor I have killed enough for the 10%. If I should not try for level mod max, is killing the mobs on guardian doors enough to avoid the -10%?

Also about skilling when on floors. I know fishing and wood cutting are very good because of the speed. Cooking is also decent which makes me wonder is there any skilling in dung I'm neglecting?

No. Getting the max 10% level mod is pretty much never worth it. You have to kill around 90% of the monsters in a floor.

ONLY kill monsters within a GD. Nothing more.

Skilling should only be done when completing your low complexity floors (1-29). Should only do fishing/wcing tbh.

Also, a c6 med solo is supposed to take ~10 mins for the average player, give or take. Maybe even less as more EoC tactics are discovered.

^ What Sonikku said though I'd replace '10mins for the average player' with '15-20mins for the average player, 10mins for the insane dg meta gamer types who manage times that the rest of us struggle to come close to'

I do 1-30 C6 small rushes, killing only GD rooms. For my 30+ meds I aim for 10% mod. They take 20-25 mins. Usually you can get 10% by killing all monsters except for dead end rooms. In dungeons with many dead ends, you may end up with slightly less % though. Same goes for only doing GD rooms: if there happen to be very few in the dungeon, you'll go deep into the negative percentages only doing them.

It may not be recommended for optimal speed and xp/hour, but I find I get very inattentive and start making mistakes (leaving doors unlocked, rushing into boss room by accident,...) if I rush dungeon after dungeon. I get more fun out of DG and can play it longer at a time when I "complete" dungeons.

Not saying I recommend my tactics -definitely not if you're looking to maximize xp/hour-, just pointing out that you should find the style that suits you.

The faster time it takes to complete the DG makes up for the negative level mod%.

This is pretty much better than obtaining 10% levelmod 100% of the time and has been proven that killing GD only monsters is the superior method.

as I said in the other thread, 20 minutes should be considered very slow for anyone who is trying for speed. To maximize speed/xp per hour, only clear GDs and puzzle rooms that must be cleared (mime, second page polter herbs w/ lots of range mobs, etc.), don't skill and try to collect herbs/mats to pot for doors as you do the DG. I suppose if you value fish/wc xp highly, fish/wc in solo meds is not a bad thing to do, but that's obviously going to hurt your times and xp/hr. Read the DGS guides (http://www.xp-waste.com/official-dgs-guides-and-other-resources-t2328.html) and consciously think about things like gate placement and where the biggest/critical path is.

DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers rings

QBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow parts

CR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size.
...
It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

Lets say a floor gives you 100k xp. Doing a rush (normal) floor takes 10 minutes, and killing everything (+10% mod) takes 15. In 30 minutes, you can do...

3 Floors @ 10 mins (no lvl mod) = 300k xp

2 Floors @ 15 mins (+10%xp/fl) = 110k*2 = 220k xp

You can see why it's better to skip. Even if the numbers are way off, it still has to be a very short amount of time longer for the dg to make killing worth it.

Like maybe 10% longer? >.<

It will take you more than one minute to kill enough creatures to get that extra 10%.
