Your thoughts of 2 NEW RS SKILLS

I'd rather just leave mechanized things to the Dwarves, they've always been a convenient scapegoat for with this kind of stuff.

But the dwarves are becoming more social, and sharing there technology eventually it'll have to be able to be player made.

And engineering certainly isn't dwarf exclusive.

Gnome inventors have engineered all sorts of stuff.

Desert folks traps and what not are engineered.

Heck even something like Ava's backpack things are kind of engineered., if you ignore the undead chicken doing the work.

Don't think of engineering in its technical terms. Think of engineering with a magical, Stone Age/medieval twist.

There was a blurb about possibly letting us guess who ascends to god hood next for a prize.

I'm guessing a hapless goblin raider wanders into a beam of power that some malicious dark entity was mustering for himself.

Regardless of what these two new skills end up being, I am excited.. Jagex really got me on board with the POP update. It's nice to finally see some high level content (actual high level, not lvl 80..). I'm hoping they take my advice and decide to do a complete rehaul of Mobilising Armies and replace it with a lower-tier version of POP, but based on jungle expidition. Unless people actually enjoy Mobilising Armies.. ?

In regards to the skills, I do hope the finishing skill takes into account other skills such as slayer, crafting, fletching, smithing, construction, etc.. It'd be nice to see the dead-end production skills given some more use. What if the gathering skill is something along the lines of Archaeology, wherein we trek over varied areas, cleaning/collecting artifacts, and in the end create items such as untradeable/tradeable scrimshaws, weapons, and armour with the help of our other Runescape production skills. I know it makes the final production skill rather meaningless, as they could just be added to the previous production skills.. but it'd interest me enough nonetheless. :P

Level 85 isn't high level...everyone knows that "high level" is actually determined by multiplying your highest skill level by how conceited you are and then dividing that by the number of players on your friend's list with a lower level in the given stat. Simple!

So call it artifice, like everything else in the fantasy genre does.

There is a Music skillcape in the item files. The way I see that working is, you gather required items for instruments. You could also gather, say, music sheets, or compositions or something. The pocket slot could hold the instrument. Another way it could fit into the "gathering" scene is if you got experience for unlocking songs (e.g. like you unlock Stranded during Desert Treasure or whatever). That instrument that you got during the quest that replaced Prince Ali Rescue for example, could be one that you'd get in order to earn experience. You could probably even go as far in it as to write songs yourself, or something of the sort. My last thought on it is that I recall one of them saying in an interview that they hadn't previously put a whole lot of time into the soundtrack and musical aspects of the game, but they've been remastering a lot of the songs lately, and that they would be expanding that area. I can't link you to the video, because I can't remember what it was called, but if you've seen the one I'm talking about, please post a link.

I'd like a bard skill ... IF they make it a group support skill ... I mean the game is MULTIPLAYER after all but yet it fills like a singleplayer game.

Is it just me or does the idea of a music skill sound really boring?

Letting us write songs would be like letting us actually put ore into the furnace, shape the ingots by hitting it at different angles with different hammers, quench the metal, shape the rivets/plates and put the whole thing together...far above and beyond the type of game runescape is. Also that music skillcape has been floating around for...it has to be 4 years at least? I wouldn't bet on anything coming of it anytime soon.

I am still fairly certain of a faction skill... Something not of the ordinary as a skill.

Sailing.

No wait, we already got that. My hopes is it isn't tied to Sailing too much (I refuse to use ports) because only high-end skills can access it, and if it's built like that, it'll be a dead skill. Since EVERY skill is accessible at lv 1, regardless of skill/combat level.

In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.

Everything comes to an end eventually and ports don't have nay exceptions to this rule of existence. Seems you're just a bit perturbed that its quite high end because it was made well understood it wasn't a skill in the first place.

I would work sort of like any MIDI input program - you'd have a simple interface, with the y-axis being the notes - 0 would be A0, 8 would be A1, etc. The x-axis would be how far into the song the note would be, or when the note would be played. You could draw the note in yourself, and have maybe 32 bars to work with? You could then write short, simple, songs or melodies (32 bars at the tempo of the song I mentioned above, Stranded, would be like one minute and fourty-five seconds or something). It's a tad difficult to explain, but the best way thing I can say is look up how actual music-making software is designed. I use Reason 6.5, a professional music-making software, to make music, and the interface is actual somewhat simple. I have recreated many Runescape songs, and I have the MIDI files for about 500 of them. There aren't a whole lot of instruments going on in these songs - referencing Stranded again, there's the "crystal" synth, a pizzicato, two string sections, a drum, a French horn, two pads, (pads are like synths but are very wide and atmospheric), and a cymbal. These instruments are used in many of their songs, and if they put the transposed samples (or "live" samples, might work better) into the game, people could simply draw in notes, and have a song that uses the same instruments as the game's official soundtrack. I've never played Mario Paint, but I hear it has a somewhat similar interface in its music part, if that helps you visualize what it could look like.

Oh, I believe it's possible don't get me wrong, but just like making smithing realistic it's a bit overkill for what the average player wants.

THE place for all free players to connect, hang out and talk about how awesome it is to be F2P.

So, Kaida is the real version of every fictional science-badass? That explains a lot, actually...
