Og Blog: Upcoming Changes to the EoC

Elite void has the same stats as regular apart from the prayer, that's hardly worth a higher level requirement (plus the quest requirements, 78 att/str, no def, suits offence-focused armour). Adjusting the void set effect to be more in line with other armour (which has no damage boost atm, but that's coming), combined with armour/lp/level/requirement boosts, would be best imo. T60 and T80 void would be nice. T80 would have to have some (fairly) tough requirement, maybe similar to gathering Shards of Armadyl or godsword shards.

Might be a good idea to save T80 void for a time when we've got T90+, though.

Would new tiers of void have higher def and lp? Or better bonuses? I know better bonuses would be overkill but it wouldn't make sense to me for any level of void to have high def. The Void Knights don't tank the pests they kill them as fast as they can.

Well for the Pest Queen, killing them fast didn't work out so well ;).

I think in a game with absolutely no damage boosts from armour, having a 10% effect is pretty huge. It'd be more fitting to increase defence & lp boost while keeping the effect at 5%. Void should be statted at lower levels than it requires to wear anyway.

Of course with the upcoming strength boosts & Nex set effects, 10% might become fairly doable.

How would they be overkill? It's a simple risk-reward calculation. I risk having lower defence+LP and suffering an increased chance of death for it; the risk is therefore higher, so I deserve higher rewards. The only meaningful way you can counter that argument is to state that void armour is free (money-wise) and therefore the consequences of failure aren't increased as a result.

Just to follow-up some more on the Og Blog: WTF were they thinking? They insist that people aren't investing in higher-level armour, well, that's because they are insanely expensive and a great deal of us have better things to be doing, and various real-life obligations that prevent us from spending hundreds of hours for items. How does Jagex repeatedly(this is second Og Blog attempt to hike up the price of Nex) trying to cause instability in the Nex market, making them even more ridiculously expensive, help the situation? It doesn't. To add further insult to injury, they're now buffing up what are basically outdated bosses anyways so that we can't even fight them unless we get these armours? Ridiculous. Do they ever think any of this through?

At the very least, I hope Barrows is still useful, and at least at equal to or higher defensive capabilities than Gwars armours.

I wouldn't be surprised if this time next month there'll be people duoing Nex and the KK in barrows.

I'm willing to settle for their current policy where apparently the best armours in the game are reserved solely for the wealthiest players in the game, provided that they give us a somewhat decent alternative(such as barrows) to everyone else. If they keep barrows relatively useful, I will accept it quietly.

And another update:

Og Blog: High-Level Monster Rebalance

Hi all,

We've made more changes to a select few of the high-level monsters in the game, reducing their overall effectiveness in combat.

During the latest batch of EoC changes, we gave the majority of our high level monsters a heavy buff in combat. As I mentioned in my recent Og Blog, many of our monsters were being fought by players of a lower level than they were designed for – so we decided to make them much better at defending themselves.

While the vast majority of the changes we made have worked as intended, some of the monsters were given too much extra power and were destroying everything in their paths! We heard your calls for help and have reduced the effectiveness of the following monsters:

  • Frost dragons
  • Ganodermic beasts + runts
  • Glacors and glacytes
  • Mithril dragons

We are confident this will make these monsters challenging to fight, without being too risky, expensive or time-consuming to take down. Of course, as with the above fixes, we will continue to make tweaks as necessary.

That's where you come in. Your feedback is of utmost important to us, so please let us know how tough you're finding the foes listed above. We are also looking at the next batch of improvements for the EoC and we always welcome feedback on improvements you would like to see. A rework of the relative damage of combat styles is already on the cards, along with more monster rebalancing and a review of quest bosses, but if you have any other suggestions, visit our discussion thread and let us know what you'd like to see.

Fight on, my noble brothers and sisters... fight on!

It's a U-turn from their stance only three days ago ("It's working as intended"), but better late than never. Anyone would think they didn't test this before it went live! Can you imagine the thought?!

They don't need to rebalance high level creatures, they just need to make lower level ones worth fighting.

THE place for all free players to connect, hang out and talk about how awesome it is to be F2P.

So, Kaida is the real version of every fictional science-badass? That explains a lot, actually...

How? I didn't hit once using korasis

You don't need to equip Korasi's all the time. All you need it for is to stun her with it equipped (by Kicking/Backhanding) to stop her doing her uber attack.

I just used Chaotic maul.

on the contrary, since like everything else time is expressed as money in rs, void armor increases in cost risk the higher level you are

I had the same problem with Sigmund - used the Ancient Mace on him, which got his HP down to around 10% & then his prayers came straight back on. Mace never specced again!

I tried switching weapons, between Mage, Range & them Melee to see if this triggered anything.

Took him over 10 minutes to kill me, even after I'd taken my armour off.

From the runewiki

With the removal of Special Attacks, Sigmund's protection prayers can be drained by using Backhand ability only while the Ancient mace is equipped. However, the success rate is no longer 100%.

It normally takes a couple of times but the fight shouldn't take longer than a minute.

Glacors Drops - 33 shards.

Armadyl Drops - 1 Chestplate. 1 Hilt. 2 gloves . 2 Skirts.

I've managed to bug him in a similar fashion before, where using backhand was somehow countered by his melee prayer. I had to actually switch styles a bit before returning to the melee prayer and using backhand to finally land a hit that disabled it.

In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.
