I totally understand why they want 500k votes for free-to-members access...but we probably won't get that in less than 4 days. I can't get mad at them for it, but I'm really sad that beyond this month I won't have access to the 2007scape servers, since I won't be able to pay the extra fee. The early release really pricked the bubble to drain out the anticipation that fueled the speed of the voting. Deviously smart, got to give them credit for it.

 

Heh, I remember getting ragged on by someone about that when I mentioned it, as if I was demanding that Jagex pay for everything rather than simply saying, "Aw that sucks" with a bit of sadness and moving on. Real crazy stuff.

 

I hope they'll consider having separate memberships like they did for funorb, so I can just switch entirely. That I might be able to manage if it's around what I'm paying now or at least comparable to current day membership rates. Dare to dream, right?

What should happen if we barely miss out on the 500k mark? Like if we were to get 460k or something just barely low-balling it, would you consider that a winning 500k, or a failure and a waste of 210k votes?

Mod MMG: I've already voted twice on my personal accounts to try and help! However, if it was very close - like 20K or less away - I would certainly make up the difference and pass the vote.

Between dragging down the 750k stuff (bar free f2p) to 500k and the progressive shitstorm of pr to boost votes it is pretty clearly they do deffo want the 500k to happen and will pull anything out to make it happen.

 

I fully expect SOMETHING in the next day or 2 to try and make another bump in the votes and/or votes will suddenly start going up much faster for no explicable reason from rigging.

First off, I didn't think I would do 07scape, and now I don't even care about the Eoc version anymore.

I don't know what exactly the future of runescape is, but here is my wild speculation.

 

-07 is very popular right now. I believe the number of actual people playing (so accounting for bots), there are more people playing 07 scape.

-I have believed for years now that jagex is updating the game into the ground. A game doesn't need an update every week, it just makes things too big with too much dead content and too little hope for new accounts.

-07 scape can be a safe haven for players that don't like a main game update, lose everything, etc.

-07 has no Eoc, which blows.

 

I believe pretty strongly that 07 scape is the future of runescape.

OK. Let's agree to disagree. I think history shows that relaunches like RS07 enjoy successful honeymoon periods followed by rapid decline as the nostalgia starts to wear off, until it eventually reaches its end point, serving a very small, niche portion of the gaming community.

I doubt I'm alone in this but I don't play 2007scape for the nostalgia, I play it because I like Runescape and don't like EOC. The assumption people in your camp seem to be making is that people are only playing it because "omg 2007 wus so much fun!1!!", for a lot of people that's not the case.

Well if I quit 07 I won't he going back to EOC unless there's some game-changing updates. I've done everything there is to do in EOC pretty much. It's boring and I dislike how the game is focused on PvM and skilling is done just for arbitrary levels.

 

In 07 (right now, at least), the game is focused on PvP and skilling is actually profitable and the skillers aren't 90% bots (yet).
