rilo kiley Posted March 8, 2013 Share Posted March 8, 2013 so with the 07 release the community has been clearly divided, i personally prefer the live game, but i voted for 07 for my friends who prefer PvP more than other aspects, and because i prefer eoc i have been flamed with some of the most vile, disgusting things iv ever witnessed. Now for both, we need to remember the 07 brings money in towards the live game for future content, and the live game is clearly needed for the 07 servers to exist. My clan has a divide as well, many people leave because they will only play 07. I would really like the clan chat ability to be able to be universal for both servers, it would keep the clan aspects more closely together. I don't have any ideas about a broad range cooperation between both servers.....As legitimate players we have almost everything in common, we all can revel in the "H/c x2" instant mute. We all can revel in the fact that bots are being correctly routed, not a quick fix but an effective one. But still i find myself asking- ...what can we do to gap this divide? iOwn.... The vast majority of the people whom came back on my friends list for 07 scape. Have gotten bored of it, and decided to learn to play the main game.In which they've been playing pretty much non-stop for the past 4-5 days.The rose tinted glasses of the past don't last forever, especially when you're trying to relive them. I quite literally facepalmed when I heard that the unid patch was reversed. That has to be one of the most miniscule, yet excellent changes to runescape, ever. The people going around saying "live RS sucks" or "07scape should be closed down" aren't generally worth the time of day. Their attitude is self-evident of the fact they're not willing to cooperate as part of a wider RS community in the first place. Which begs the question: What can you honestly hope to achieve by reaching out to them? I'm in a friend chat where some people play 07scape, and some people play live RS. Some people mix both, for example, they play 07scape mainly and then log on to live RS for PoP. We get along fine and we still talk to each other. There's really no issue here apart from those deliberately making it one. Friend chat is already cross-game of course, but Clan chat could be made cross-game. I don't think anyone with common sense would suggest putting that feature into 07scape (although not clans themselves) would detract from its old school appeal. Would there be as much 'hate' for the live game now if the 2007 community core never changed and retained until now? Is it that the online community is going downhill, making people's experience with the game going downhill, but instead, people blame the game for it? (Props to Jagex for investing a lot of resources into making something happen for those who have massive nostalgia, and more power to those who are playing it, but I really don't expect many new players to get involved, and I doubt I'll even log on myself.) Do I think it's massively divided the community? Also lolno. Obtained quest cape and base 92 before obtaining any 99s! Currently finishing out my 99s with the (long-distant) goal of comp cape. EOC scape has nothing for me. The PVE takes very little skill compared to other MMOs and the skills are a grind. Gear is an ends in and of itself instead of a means to an end, and there is very little in the way of actual "progression" outside of quests and skills. Personally, after getting what, like 13 or 15 99s, quest cape, and top 500 DG plust a 1b+ bank before I quit in December of '10 there was nothing left to do. 07 gave me something to do. I mean i agree with the part of them being mostly 1 Def pures, but not with the latter part. Almost certain a 1 Def vs. Rune Pure of same level will destroy the Rune Pure.That is pretty much the only reason 1 Def Pures have always been so attractive. About week and a half after the servers went up, there were 70,000 people playing. If you don't count server crashes/restarts, we've yet to have there be less than 20,000 players online at once. If you have friends who play both then has been stated you can chat on friends chat, Unfortunately there are people who are showing the mental age of an ameoba in the official RS forums with both baiting and flaming in the ORS forums, with people who hate the game deliberately setting topics to inflame passions. This is not needed but I think it will continue for some time, especially as Jagex have set the level needed to vote in the new polls so low. As for myself I stopped playing the EOC game about a year ago, I logged in for penguin spotting and Player owned Ports, unfortunately thats not enough to keep me now. My main concern has been the updates to make the game easier, Bonus XP weekends, then unlimited bonus weekends. The introduction of Lodestones, then the removal of the waiting time to use them, and now I read about increasing the ability to Run more (makes me wonder when the agility skill and potions will be deleted from the game as there is practically no more use for them). 999134 Posted March 9, 2013 Share Posted March 9, 2013 If you want to call a section of rs rotten you would do far better pointing that stick at eocscape.Dicing/RWT/scamming is strife and a large number of hard core runescape players that make the game have switched over to 07scape to avoid the EOCscape community as much as the game. The I want it now aspect of EOCscape is pathetic, no one is willing to work for anything, and there is nothing worth working towards.It is easy to call pkers annoying or rude, but it is part of any competitive game, and a lot of hate on pkers seems to come from people upset that their slayer task or green dragon killing was ruined by a pker.
