Artemis1330 Posted March 21, 2013 Share Posted March 21, 2013 I have noticed in the last 24-48 hours an absolutely massive increase in bots on 2007scape. Seen friends pics of willow spots, fishing spots etc. I also know there are now law bots. Anyone else notice this in last 1-2 days? Only managed to get about 4 in the pic but there were another 5 walking around at goblins. There were a bunch more at chickens a bit north. I was on a troll slayer task earlier today and there was even a bot looting all the big bones and banking. Really worries me how many bots appeared in the last couple days. Jagex has a very bad track record in dealing with these things in a timely manner. Bot watch on the main game seems to be doing well as it is rolled out. Hopefully it can be adapted to 2007 servers soon. Really depressing seeing this happen. I knew it would come, but that doesn't make it any better. Mostly posting this to raise awareness. Hoping Jagex is made aware of this and does something soon. Was really nice having no bots on runescape for the first time in like 9 years. edit- ess mines There's 100++ all worlds. timmmmm83 Posted March 21, 2013 Share Posted March 21, 2013 I've seen numerous posts on RSOF of people complaining about bots, the threads are closed down almost immediately and the topic starters are asked to report them ingame.Ye, let's all report the swarms of bots around you and someone will manually check their accounts if they were truly botting... All bots have ever done is make unbottable stuff worth more, but with no worthwhile unbottable PVM (Other than DKs), nothings gonna change, everything is bottable. Maybe zerk rings go up a little relative to everything else. Maybe there are more ess bots than rc bots so ess is cheaper. Meh. I was always surprised they didn't make bots for stuff like Corp and Bandos, they were very simple and profitable tasks and death was no biggie with the lengthy gravestones/time allowed to get back at corp. I remember reading about it but i don't know if it was just a clue scroll obtainer (kill enemies) or it did the clues, or both. It was talked about quite a lot so i suspect it did both. mousepad Posted March 23, 2013 Share Posted March 23, 2013 I have already admitted I botted for a little while back in 2011 to get 3 chaotics, so I know a lot about how botting was at least back then. I imagine it is exceedingly easy to ban bots by the way they work. As long as jagex can compile the input from every player in the game and then analyze it for certain patterns, they can tag accounts with signature input. Then once they collect enough evidence (time that the behavior persists) they can ban the tagged players in groups. Jagex certainly has the power to control the bot population. With that established, jagex can also allow a certain amount of botting for certain raw materials to keep the economy from getting wacked out. I think that is probably what they do. Though it was more along the lines of remapping my xbox controller and putting a rubber band on the trigger...
