Vinyl DjPon3
I'm currently in the process of Mining Iron and Coal for 70 mining, and I'll have 3500 steel bars when I'm done. I plan to make these steel bars into Ammo, but can't really decide which one to make... KnivesArrowsor Bolts regardless of which ammo I make, I'll primarily use them during slayer tasksI'm more or less trying to go for a mix of Overall XP mileage with the ammo, and it lasting me before I have to get more ammo. Assume these are the ONLY options for me.I know training on things with Actual range, as opposed to using an canon is overall inefficient, but I don't want to do that. An old player from 2004-2011. muggiwhplar
I regretted making knives as opposed to darts because:a) darts give fletch XPb) you get twice as many darts per bar as knives With steel, though, it'd probably be most profitable to make cannonballs. Buuuuut since none of those are options for you, I'd say stick to knives.
Powerfrog
Are you doing some kind of DIY thing here? It'd be best to make cballs, sell the cballs, use the money to buy many more knives/chins. With your options, knives would be best for slayer.
Vinyl DjPon3
Somewhat DIY, when I train stats, I try to make it benificial for another skill. Like farming Herbs, cutting logs for Fletch and FM, etc. Cannon balls take a painfully long amount of time to make though don't they? An old player from 2004-2011. They aren't THAT bad, but they are slowish - However very afkable... I timed it to like 2 and a half mins for him to smelt an invent of balls, set a timer off for each load and just wrote coursework... Mon
I would go with half bolts, half knives unless you want to do cannonballs. I'm also training Range via Slayer and the knives are good for tasks with low defense like Bloodvelds/ Jellies and the bolts are better for tasks like dragons. Hedgehog
It's 10 ticks per cannonball, right? That's insanely slow. Don't do it. If you intend on doing a diy thing, then knives, darts, and bolts will be completely useless and cannoning isn't worth it if you have to make the balls. So just make plates. Vinyl DjPon3
What bow uses platebodies as ammo? 1 An old player from 2004-2011. Hedgehog
Platebodies offer the highest productivity if you want to diy. Of course, you shouldn't mine coal at all, but that's a different issue.
999134
Not the answer you are looking for really I think but don't bother with any of that.Mine granite to 70 mining, then use the time saved to kill green dragons, and use that profit to buy bars to make plates to train smithing (or iron knives if feeling cheap/can't stand more dragon killing, iron knifes profit) and buy iron knifes with more leftover dragons profit. Faster and get melee exp as well. Check it out, huge amount of effort has gone into this massive mod![hide=old sig][/hide]
Vinyl DjPon3
I'm not sure what use a bunch of steel platebodies would do in a DIY sense I'll be training all my combat stats through slayer, because I don't like camping a specific monster, it's boring to me.I want to make Ammo to use (or make something to sell for more ammo) out of the steel bars I'm making. So which ammo do I make? I know it's not efficient to make my own ammoI know it's not efficient to mine coal But it's what I'm doing, so out of the options I've given, which option is the most efficient? 999134
I would mine just iron instead and smelt with forging rings and make iron knives/darts, steel ammo is pretty bad to use.You would be alching the plates. Vinyl DjPon3
Why would Iron ammo be better to use than steel? An old player from 2004-2011. 999134
easier to make (don't need to waste time mining coal), and is almost identical xp/hr. Check it out, huge amount of effort has gone into this massive mod![hide=old sig][/hide]
Vinyl DjPon3
Hmm, well I've already got it planned out to mine the Coal (already have the iron) for 70 mining, which will then get me 60 smithing when I smelt and smith it.So I'll just stick with that since I'm already half-way through it. So would the answer be knives then anyways? An old player from 2004-2011. Hedgehog
No. You don't use knives/darts anywhere and they're bad xp/hour to make. Make platebodies. If you want to make your own ammo, go hunt chins.
Bubs
To save from going in circles, knives don't require feathers, darts do, right? Knives are less effort, do those. He's not asking for the most efficient way to train range or use steel bars.

demby123
What bow uses platebodies as ammo?Ogre bow :P Imo you have two options.... All knives or half knives half arrows. If you intend to train slayer on mostly defenceless monsters, the knives probably have higher dps than all those options. If you think you'll end up doing higher leveled monsters you should either use an msb+ steel arrows, or (i'd recommend this) a Rune crossbow with mith bolts.Steel bolts are just too weak to even be bothered with imo EDIT:lol @ all the efficiency freaks
TwentyBux0rz
Really I would recommend mining iron the rest of the way for 70 mining. Steel ammo is only marginally better than iron, iron ore is quicker mining exp, and smelting iron is way easier than smelting steel (use forging rings). You'll also end up with way more ammo to use. Vinyl DjPon3
Well if you go extreme efficiency, you shouldn't be using any ammo other than a canon until Chins :rolleyes:Though by personal preference I don't like Canoning, or Chinning, sooooo Yeah. I already have half of the coal I need, should I just sell that, buy the iron I can with the money, and go back to iron then for 70?And forging rings is 120 ore per right? And then make Knives from that? An old player from 2004-2011.
