Is melee void better than alternatives?

Well when OS was released there were no torsos so i thought void would be sweet. But of course torsos were released and by memory of void being sweet was based on memories of what it did to chaotic's already high numbers.

 

So basically, which hits better, max strength or void? Using the primary weapons D scim and Whip...

 

Wanna know accuracy and strength difference.

 

 

 

As an aside, does Salve (e) stack with void? (or black mask?)

Void should be better, especially on low level enemies

 

To answer your question, Void is calculated at a different time than Salve Amulet (e). Void is used in the calculation of your effective level, whereas Salve Amulet or Black Mask is used as a multiplier when calculating your accuracy roll.

ok, so using a maxed zerker potted stats (69 attack 112 strength, 15% prayers) and max possible offensive items (zerk ring, fury, ect).

56 defense is chosen as this is a brewed zerkers defense, defense prayer is not used as it often isn't in wildy.

 

Void - Dragon Scimitar

  • Max hit = 36
  • DPS on 1 defense 0 slash defense 7.54639355742297
  • DPS on 56 defense 0 slash defense 6.65572478991597
  • DPS on 56 defense 250 slash defense 2.90903662420382

Max strength - Dragon Scimitar

  • Max hit = 37
  • DPS on 1 defense 0 slash defense 7.74822695035461
  • DPS on 56 defense 0 slash defense 6.8218085106383
  • DPS on 56 defense 250 slash defense 2.94984076433121

Same as above but with 80 attack (70 base to wield whip + pot)

 

Void - Whip

  • Max hit = 40
  • DPS on 1 defense 0 slash defense 8.40024834437086
  • DPS on 56 defense 0 slash defense 7.62244757174393
  • DPS on 56 defense 250 slash defense 4.09401539278132
  • DPS on 118 defense 360 slash defense w/Piety 1.2529442820013

Max strength - Whip

  • Max hit = 41
  • DPS on 1 defense 0 slash defense 8.60068259385666
  • DPS on 56 defense 0 slash defense 7.77943686006826
  • DPS on 56 defense 250 slash defense 4.06847133757962
  • DPS on 118 defense 360 slash defense w/Piety 1.24512670565302

 

Wow... Ok, so strength gear is best for low defense by quite a bit. But as you can see, void is very slightly better against an armoured zerker and very high defense, not that it'd be worth the armour loss for practical PVP purposes.

 

Please take all this with a grain of salt, I'm just playing around with stuff for my own satisfaction.

 

I feel kinda dumb for spending all this time getting void now. I guess I'll get range...

Not even true because if you were doing that you'd rely on spec weapons (that are better in every way with strength gear) or range anyway.

 

Not that I'd ever ever mass a boss that can be easily duo'd or more easily crashed in a world with fewer noobs. :P

Not necessarily, since in W6 bandos, you had time for 1 hit...that's it.

That's all you had. Accuracy was much more important as a result.

 

No one ranging got any bandos kills in w6

I can assure you that "Peli Kan 2" as a lev 79, 1 defence pure with d-bow got quite a few w6 bandos kills.

Exactly... Which is what makes specs best. With the number of people attempting it, getting a fairly reliable 30+ with whip isn't going to be very useful, you have to rely on a lucky 50+ DDS or halberd. (Or dbow, thus range)

 

I'm pretty sure old school count the xp gained from hitting the enemy and not "actual damage"... IE if your hit lands but the damage was unessessary for the kill, you still get the loot if you got the xp of a higher hit than others.

 

Anyway. If GWD ever came to old school I'd probably be too busy crying with joy to login for the first few weeks when it has that kind of hype.

However, Dragon Claws special was the single most accurate attack in the entire game :P

Which you're much more likely to get while wearing void because you'll actually HIT that hit more times than not.

No, void makes you 10% more accurate, but you sacrifice +12 slash of b gloves. So it's only really more accurate when using whip. With low base accuracy such as DDS the strength gear is better in every way.
