Armor Nerf or Monster Accuracy boost system?

It is a sad day today.

 

Previously (just earlier today) I could camp bandits with 95 def, torag chest + legs & korasi/eee indefinitely.

 

After the new armor system update, I cannot. The bandits tear the "tanky" armor apart and I am forced to go back with guthans "spear as necessarry" tactics.

 

I do understand combat was way too easy, but why nerf it so hard that a level 78 bandit becomes threat to a tier 70 armor. Not to mention the defense does not compensate anything, in contrary to what the update notes say...

 

TL;DR

Tanky armor and defense levels give you notably less defense than before.

Tbf, at least in part, this comes from skewing defence to tighter fit the triangle. Mage armour (aka strong to melee) would tank much better vs bandits than melee gear.

That's a good point, except that there is no way to heal with magic, unless using a wand.

Which means spending runes.

I'll see how the "accuracy" bonus works, though. Will try ahrims now.

 

After testing, I have to say ahrims does give more defense. You also get more HP (ahrim hood + chest + skirt) vs neitz + torag chest + legs. There is no accuracy penalty.

 

The bad thing is, even 2 level 78 bandits TEAR through full ahrims at the same speed as EE heals back. With 3 bandits attacking at once, you are actually losing HP.

 

Which brings me back to the point:

Level 70 tier (barrows) armor is only decent against level 70- monsters AND only in 1v1.

Soul split eats prayer points and bloodfire spells eat runes. These two options are good if you like clicking 5 times / sec* OR feel like wasting good money and terrible for camping.

Bunyip / stallion are tolerable options. Except a summoning obby is NOWHERE to be found (in the vicinity). Which makes them bad for camping bandits.

 

* That's the only thing RS servers do – they ignore clicks. Client acknowledges (red X icon where you clicked), server ignores. Which introduces the need to click the same spot tens of times to make sure your character will even try to do anything.

 

 

ON RANT TOPIC:

Using melee vs magic weak monsters used to produce excellent results – no gp wasted and no need to click ten times per second.

This update nerfed defense completely. I wonder how bad every single monster destroys dungeoneers... Food finally has use in there.

Abilities dont use runes.

Use a summoning/super restore maybe?

response bolded. Haven't tried dg yet, but considering you didn't even really need ss before, I doubt you'll need food now.

DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers rings

QBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow parts

CR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

Because that's how it worked for a rather long time now – both before EoC (pretty much since guthans became widely available) and after.

 

Surely, I could go straight back to pre-EoC tactics, which is guthans + dw (except korasi + ee vs whip + ddef) and using spear as necessary. That's no problem, since pre-EoC EE had no passive heal; I can adapt to that, since still ahrims set combined with EE passive heal protects a little more than pre-eoc.

 

By the way, the rant is about how armor is good for nothing now MORE THAN EVER. Try doing BDs with karils now. Level 140 monster, you can no longer do ~20 (notably more with turm/ss) per HP bar. After several kills you must eat food, due to the way barrows give no def and that now BDs have millions of HP.

You do understand that one of the major points of EoC was to decrease afking and add more attention to game playing right?

And yet we still have momentum to preserve the older methods of gameplay, don't we?

I assumed black demons.

 

This is correct. Best to skip them now, not even bots are killing them.

Why would you? They give good slayer and range exp, and with a royal crossbow or even hand cannon, they aren't difficult to kill. They also generous with row drops. Bots aren't killing them because bots only melee in a dhelm and fighter torso with a whip. They need something to kill with that so unless it's a blue dragon I suspect a lot of botted monsters aren't botted anymore.

Why would you? They give good slayer and range exp, and with a royal crossbow or even hand cannon, they aren't difficult to kill. They also generous with row drops. Bots aren't killing them because bots only melee in a dhelm and fighter torso with a whip. They need something to kill with that so unless it's a blue dragon I suspect a lot of botted monsters aren't botted anymore.

 

Trudat and, if you are a bit poor and have trouble making money entirely you can bank-run all the ashes for some good profits.

Only low level bots melee. High level bots usually range profitable monsters, such as green dragons.

 

Typical bot setup (lvl 198-200 combat):

MSB (from time to time they come barehanded; after they die they get a MSB again)

50 (+/-) Mithril arrows

1 varrock teletab

1 prayer potion (3)

some tuna

 

They kill dragons with magic protect, collect hides & bones and use the GE to sell them and to rebuy their stuff.

You can find them on every english world in the western wilderness GD spot. Reports have no effect on them, so you can kill them as many times as you want over an arbitrary period of time. An active friends list helps to qh for maximum kph(and gp/h).

 

 

Back on topic:

Yep, they are not so bad. But I really think JaGeX should have left high HP for metal dragons instead of nerfing them and kept BDs with low HP for fast slayer tasks.
