karnsy81
I played back in the day, and I loved RSC. I want to get into OSRS, mainly for pking because I loved it before, but is it really worth my time? How long will the servers last? I do not really want to put in the time if they die out here in the next year. I know it will never be the same as it was before, but is there anyone on here that can tell me if it is really worth it? Thanks all!
Ammako
How long will the servers last? Hold on, let me check my crystal ball. ... ... wait, turns out it's a watermelon. Oh well. Can't really know exactly how long the servers will remain populated, but I'm thinking that as long as enough people have an interest in old school PKing, it should remain populated enough. The problem with OSRS is that without F2P, very few new players will come in, while many more will be leaving. Quite a shame really.
PolarBearBlue
If you really want it to stay then you should just go do it. Players who go "I don't wanna waste time if it's not gonna last" will be one of the reason why OSRS fails if it does. Without F2P new players won't come in but it can last if older player still keep at it. so go play. :D "Goals dont have a deadline." -xxxgod quoting Lady Shahdie [slayer "Essentials"][click pic for main blog][click quote for mini blog][Worthwhile Auras]
karnsy81
I agree. Just curious on other people thoughts. I do not have a lot of time to devote to it, and that time that I do devote shouldn't be for nothing. Do you know what I mean? Not meaning to bash anything, just a little conversation starter I guess.
karnsy81
I like that idea PolarBearBlue. It sounds good to me!
Cheat
I don't think f2p is the reason new players won't play OSRS, I think a new player to RS is always going to choose to play the flashy new version of RS rather than some retro server. In my opinion OSRS will be pretty dead within a few months but it will maintain a core PKing and high level player base for longer than that. Powerfrog
Just play it and have fun. You'll have to go through painful bits like Underground Pass quest, but for the most part you can avoid doing stuff like, say, killing the same creature 8 hours a day. In all likely hood OSRS will not die, it may have way fewer players or stop being updated, worst case scenario the membership fee increases slightly. Even with the EoC and before Old School, it's the people continually playing who even allow the live game to stay alive. And the biggest factor for keeping people playing is having friends who play. Kano
I think you should just go for it :) It's extremely fun and addictive :P 1 Never Take Life Too Seriously, Nobody Gets Out Alive Anyway.
Ommundo
I think OSRS is here to stay. I hadn't played since 07 before old school came back in February. I had never been a member before the 'new' old school rs came out  1 2007 player
WhySoK0ed
definately start 07!my advice is to keep defence at 1 and then grind up range and strength and magic (not attack) to 60.buy an obby maul and some knives and have some fun in the wildy, or you could just get the other two stats to 60 and then range to 70 and pk whith magic shortbow or rune c bow and dark bow or combo it whith the oobby maul etc...then quest up your defence to 45 to become a zerker or you could go [bleep] that and become a void ranger pure :DITS FUN. thelastiger
Well, instead of telling you what to think about Runescape's PK Servers (also known as 07, or OSRS), go ahead and decide for yourself. For me, right now, yes. ((Yes, this thread is old but the question is still on everyone's mind))
