29-May-2013 - God Emissaries

Recommended Posts

@Above

I disagree with your interpretation of Zaros. Saradomin wants all his followers to adore and love him as the one rightful God.

Zaros no longer has any interest in ruling over great land masses. Instead, I get the feeling he wants a closed circle of loyal allies with which to subtly control and direct events of the world without anyone knowing.

I suppose that's true now. But in the days before he was stabbed by Zamorak, I think he wanted to control Gielinor and be seen as the rightful ruler of all civilization, which is similar to what Saradomin wants.

I can imagine Saradomin and Zaros being at odds with each other, because neither are explicitly good or evil and they want similar things (singular rule).

@Kramp:

Basically because he's not a serious god. He's in the same category as Brassica Prime.

Wait. What? Brassica Prime isn't a serious god?!?!?

I'd be careful with using that map to make conclusions. It was uploaded/created in 2011 per the revision history. I would expect that it might not truly represent the current status of those lands. Some of them seem a little far-fetched. I would be especially hesitant in making too many conclusions for those areas such as the desert that don't have one of the 8 factions that Jagex has decided to go with for future content.

I find it odd that so many people want a peaceful god like Seren to rule over the world. Especially because we slaughter millions of monsters, other players and other humans in order to train our skills. Heck, we even empty the ocean, deplete every rock, annihilate every forest and yet most of us want a god that preaches being one with nature, conservation of the people an so on. :s

I have enjoyed this content immensely. I decided to join Sliske, because he reminds me of our character. If you look at us, we just do whatever gives us the best advantage or reward, we have no clear policies. And I expect a lot of him to come. He may deceit me, but I'm prepared for that, because that lies in my nature too.

But it was a hard decision to make. I was really relieved by the story of Zamorak. He has a compelling motive I must admit. I hope he will be more in the spotlight after all these years about bashing him and praising Zaros and lately Guthix and Seren.

The fact that Bandos is such an ass, but a smart one, surprised me, but it was a pleasant surprise.

Saradomin could be more fleshed out in my opinion, we don't really get more information about him.

And now, for Zaros. His plans, if the vision is true, are just awesome. I love this character so much and I'm so happy Jagex is making him so cunning and totally placing him into his role of "control". The fact that he actually resides in the shadow realm does give me odd feelings. Wouldn't Sliske be able to find him there? Especially after all those years (I think 5000 years have passed since Zaros has been stabbed). And if so, why hasn't Sliske done something about it? Maybe he has been plotting stuff already for a long time. I for one have a thought that Zaros has been held captive by Sliske, which could be an interesting turn of events.

I wanted to keepsake a dominion staff but apparently you can't :(

You sure you aren't just doing it wrong?

Gotta use the item on the key, not the other way around. I had the same problem with sea singer's robes.

I'm sure I did it right, it even gave a message saying that you can't add that item to the keepsake box.

Good to know, not going to bother trying to unlock the staff now.

Keepsaked dual Gorgonite rapiers instead.

I think it'd be a little anticlimactic if Sliske had contact with Zaros after all this time. Azzanadra spent a lot of time and effort making the portal, and we had to do some serious grunt work as well, just to do something Sliske can do on a whim.

For a long time I was satisfied with thinking that Sliske was able to just disappear and reappear when he wanted and hide in the shadows, but his emissary is supposedly from the Shadow Realm, which means it's a real place with a real society that apparently Sliske likes to visit a lot. They seem to regard Sliske pretty highly there. I'm not sure how Zaros would fit in there with Sliske's new power.

Well, his missionary was just a maid that got stuck in the Shadow Realm by accident (or because Sliske was involved), so I actually doubt there is a lot of life in the Shadow Realm.

Also some tidbits: Zaros does not seek revenge or war when he returns. Kara-meir, one of the contact in the book of the Godless, is the main character of the RuneScape book "Betrayal at Falador".

so uh

giving the armadyl emissary a bowl of scrambled eggs

incredibly awkward

*emissary eats eggs*

"Oh, by the way, I raided aviansie nests for those."

DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers rings

QBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow parts

CR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size.
...
It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

Have we done the traditional assigning of each god to Magic: The Gathering colors with this new info?

  • Zaros: Black-white. His ultimate goals are power and control. Black wants power, white wants control. Ghost Council of Orzhova.
  • Saradomin: White. Saradomin is a different aspect of white from Armadyl--the kind of white that wants to destroy all evil in the world for the sake of the greater good, not afraid to get some hands dirty if it means taking the fight to the enemy. Very white goals and very white methods. Lightwielder Paladin.
  • Armadyl: White. Strong focus on the justice, law, equality, and order aspects of the philosophy. Aurification.
  • Seren: Green. Nature goddess, natch. Her philosophy fits with green's ideals too, though, with an emphasis on living in harmony with others and with your surroundings. Asceticism.
  • Zamorak: Black-red. Very red means (chaos and destruction) to very black ends (self-interest, dog-eat-dog stuff, gaining strength for oneself). Rakdos the Defiler.
  • Sliske: Black. He's out for himself and doesn't hesitate to do whatever it takes to win. Altar of Shadows.
  • Bandos: Green-red. He wants everyone to duke it out and may the best man win (green). He does this by riling up his followers and inciting them to war (red). Gruul Ragebeast.
  • Godless: All five colors. They don't claim allegiance to any one philosophy, and believe mortals of all corners of Gielinor should band together to drive away the gods.

What if....

the person Azzanadra contacted in The Temple of Sennisten quest was actually Sliske posing as Zaros? *le gasp*

I'm finally loving the cross-conceptualization people are making between the ethos of each god faction and the mana colors of magic: the gathering. These are core concepts and ideas I've been wishing to be delivered as part of game since forever. With out decisions in the future events and quests helping bend the storyline in favor of our gods ideals I am certain that these god-ethos will remain a long standing core piece to the game for a long, long time.

Zarosians are a bunch of dickriders. He doesn't care about you. He'll throw you away once he's done with you. You're "siding" with the "god of control", remember? He's using you. Besides, "empty lord", "god of control" and "I like purple" are all we really know about him. You don't know his ideals, you don't know his plans for the future of Gielinor.

You're praying to a god just because he's cool and mysterious. Maybe if he was in a boy band, sure, go ahead. But this is serious. This is the fate of the world as we know it.

I don't see why the Desert being shaded for Tumeken/Pantheon is an issue either.

Jagex are by no means saying these 8 are the only options and that all of gielinor must follow them.

They are just the gods big enough, in terms of story, power and desire, to warrant our following.

Marimbo, Tumeken & co still exist in the lore. We even know the Fremmy god and Karamajan god are going to be revealed to us AND a few more gods are gonna come to Gielinor who never came before eg Tuska

I'm praying to him because he's given me the most quality free stuff. And also because I REALLY like purple. :P

What have the other gods ever done for me, huh? Are they giving me area-of-effect freeze attacks and huge combat boosts? Are they providing me with the #1 best armour sets in the game? No. Zaros is hands-down the god whose patronage has been the most rewarding.

The other gods want pawns. Zaros isn't interested in pawns. He wants queens. That's why he runs a streamlined operation with just a small team of powerful, loyal allies: quality over quantity. If you're one of those lucky few in his inner circle--which, if you've done any reasonable amount of questing, you are--you get to reap the rewards. It's a mutually beneficial arrangement.

He doesn't want war and destruction or whatnot. He just wants to win the Iron Throne and rule all the Seven Kingdoms (and kick Zamorak's ass). Azzanadra and Wahisietel are pretty cool guys that I certainly don't mind teaming with, either.

I'd go more with the Gateless rebel movement among the unguilded citizens of Ravnica.

If we just stick to Ravnica guilds:

  • Saradomin: Boros
  • Zamorak: Rakdos
  • Zaros: Orzhov
  • Armadyl: Azorius
  • Seren: Selesnya
  • Sliske: Dimir
  • Bandos: Gruul
  • Godless: Gateless

And the player character would be Jace Beleren.

What really struck me was that you use one egg on the bowl, and then you get a bowl with 3 yolks in it.

Such eggs do in fact exist.

Lmfao I created the account "Zaros fc" a couple weeks ago. Hoping to see it used as a team chat during world events. Just so you know - Zaros is going to bring the pain.

No. Your Zamorak's not in Chaotic, your Armadyl's not in Lawful, your Saradomin's not in Good, your Guthix isn't in Neutral, and you've put Zaros as Chaotic. :notalk:

If you look at it like that, how is he any different to Saradomin, Bandos and Zamorak, who all use their subjects for selfish reasons.

I wanna see this map and stuff people are talking about, stupid services.runescape not loading bs -.-

Big image[hide]izFWfif.jpg

[/hide][/hide]

Where green is Guthix, blue is Saradomin, red is Zamorak, light blue is Seren, orange is Marimbo, purple is Bandos, Pink is Zaros and yellow is Tumeken

Sorry to pull this one out from the previous pages, but I'm in the belief that both the Digsite and Frozen Fortress should be Zaros? In which case, they should be BOTH purple? (Yeah I know the colour labelling is wrong). I'm sure there are other mistakes on this too, but that's the one that immediately springs to mind. In any case, would it be possible to get a colour-blind friendly version of this? Make the colours clearer (and correct) or just number the damn areas, like a painting by number.

Also, how come Daemonheim is both red & green? Did the update now shed any light on the Karamjan (and idk if we know this already, Dwarven) god?
