When I use resizeable at the size I use my screen for, it's about a centimeter bigger than fixed, BUT it gives me a chatbox I can click through (which I hate) and a dropdown menu for the other tabs (which I also dislike). So fixed is the optimal choice for me.

Unless I am mistaken you can change it so you don't get click through chatbox movement, even in current game. So after 9 years of playing in fixed it may be able time you configure resizeable. As for the drop down menu, I have no idea what you are talking about, so I have to take your word for it until I decide to log into NIS.

Within a week I'll have to play with a suboptimal game setting, don't you guys believe this feels kinda forced on me?

Within a week, everyone will have to play with suboptimal game settings. So you aren't alone. But I do think NIS is more ready than HTML5, and on release you'll be able to do more than what you are getting.

Not trying to pick on you, but as far as NIS I'm sure there is a solution to your problems.

I've already told, if I use resizeable, my screen is about the same width, so it doesn't change my problems at all, those two bars will still be in the way and all the convenient buttons we have now are being tucked away at different places.

What about people who use resizable and zoom in because they can't see things like text?

Can't you resize the game screen itself to set the interface outside of it to make it more like fixed? hang on i'll try and post a pic

edit:

I don't play fixed, so I could be wrong but this is the default "Classic" loadout on NIS with some very minor tweaks and it seems very similar to me. All I did was make the map smaller to expand the backpack. None of the interfaces overlap the game screen, it's a seperate entity with the interface being surrounding entities instead of overlapping (done using the option "3D World Editing" that's found within Edit Mode)

Better yet.. As someone who wants to use half the screen for RS and half the screen for something else, why not make your interface more friendly for that than the classic is?

This is something I came up with in sub 5 minutes. Idk how useful it'd be, because I didn't play with it, but is at least taking advantage of the whole half of the screen I have for RS instead of just the small portion that Fixed uses. You could even make it where the chat box doesn't cover the game screen, though that's never bothered me

You say you're open to change, but you surely don't act like it. I don't think NIS, HTML5, or RS3 are ready yet either, but to entirely discredit them is very closed minded.

NIS looks awesome, but it's missing too many features to be ready for release. HTML5 just seems pretty bad in general. Hopefully it works on my phone when it's released so that I can do traders in class.

They both have promise but need work. NIS is closer than html 5

Nothing wrong with it, looks kinda neat... are that two extra spaces for the ability bar? Or is that for Aura/scrim? that's useful!

Those are slots only for inventory

Trying to emulate my old setup as far as possible:

Using the new option stones to open and close inventory/abilities etc like with the old option stones. Chatbox is huge now so action bar has to go on top. No pretty equipment picture for me :(

The old layout was definitely a lot more efficient with space usage, but I can get used to this new one.

In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.

The NIS certainly seems to be built with bigger screen res in mind I run 1280 x 800 on my mac and that is bordering on crowded, anything less must be a pita.

Though I spose if you can get used to using the keybinds you can have very little on screen other than the obligatory chat action bar etc,

I don't know if it has been asked, but how do the NIS layouts work with the fluid resizable..ness?

I like the upper one, sadly it's about a centimeter or 2 bigger than my gaming screen, thanks though. :)

I'll try to work something about so I can get my game screen as big as yours. :)

(The problem is that I work with a medical database, when I make that screen a bit smaller, it changes into a horrendous thing, but I'll take a look if I can't find something to solve that. :P)

Waste of space. Override chrome window over 40% of runescape window and get bigger video while seeing what is your char doing. Or make video smaller (shorter) and open another window in left-bottom corner.

I'm going to use tall runescape window in rs 3 but now I'm using this:

My setup

I had the slim skin on but then I accidentally let myself lobby so yeah. Also import save doesn't work so my counter is actually like 75m higher and I'm much poorer. And I'm comped.
