I would like to play again

krimi

Recommended Posts

The last quest available was one piercing note when I was still playing. I see that the combat system has changed. It looks more interactive based on the hour I played in f2p last night. I would like to finish getting 99 slayer before working on other skills, but if working on other skills is beneficial to getting 99 slayer faster I am all for it.

I have maxed melee, 98 range, 99 mage, 96 summoning, turmoil, and overloads.

I currently have:

-dragon boots and defender

-fire cape, alerter, and god cape

-fighter torso and hat

-full slayer helm

-chaotic rapier and maul, z spear, and enhanced excalibur

-staff of light, polypore staff, arcane stream, and infinity boots

-barrow gloves, verac's, karil's top/bottom and crossbow, ahrim's hood/top/bottom

-fury, berzerker (i), warrior (i), seer (i), archer (i), and dragonstone (i)

-full elite void

I read some of this stuff has been improved and some of it has become obsolete. I have about ten million gp to use. What should I get? What are the best weapons for comabt and are there any affordable alternatives for me? I was thinking I would need about a million on cannonballs, but I read that has been limited. Is cannon still viable? How do all these fancy new abilities change slaying? Are loyalty items relevant to slayer? I don't think I'll get access to the them because of my spoardic membership.

I read that bonecrusher, demonhorn necklace, zealot necklace, offhand rapier, chaotic claws, and offhand claws are good dungeoneering items to get. Is there a good medium between dgs's speed and something like spending a hour on a floor. I am assuming dgs is still around. I was never great at dungeoneering to begin with and I think it would be best for me to ease into it, but not take too long a time to do so.

Slayer tips after the change would be cool as well. What tasks have changed and what have been added? I don't think I can cannon aberrant spectres with protect magic up anymore. How are dagannoth kings after the combat change?

How has leveling skills changed? Has there been any changes added that beat buying and processing en masse for most skills? I prefer something leisurely over something requiring focus for huge gains (rocktails vs. barbarian fishing).

i may be able to help on the last question, the rest i would wait for Q

in terms of skilling a few skills you can use the ability bar like with attacks except to drop things, for instance, i am using hte ability bar to drop the fish i am catching at shilo. it can also be done with gold/coal at lrc. not sure what other skills it does work for though/is worth it. buying stuff is still ge for the most part.

good luck

Generally, EoC made monsters incredibly weak and killrates have gone up a lot. Certain abilities, like Assault, will kill a typical slayer target by themselves (Assault takes 6 seconds).

Weapon tier is more important than anything else now, so get the highest level weapon you can. T90 weapons are drygores (100m for the set or so), ascension crossbows (500m for the set? idk) and seismic wand + orb (1.5b for the set or so). T80 weapons are chaotic claws (200k tokens & a dragon claw set), royal crossbow/dual wield ccbow (2m gp and 300k tokens respectively) and vwand+book/cstaff (130m and 200k tokens respectively).

Dragon boots & defender, EE, fighter torso/hat, polypore, SoL, infinity boots, berserker & dragonstone (i), kxbow, zspear and I suppose also fury are nearly useless nowadays. There is very little reason to hybrid anymore, and that means multi-style boosters like fury, berserker ring and such are mostly useless. Zealots got nerfed recently, don't get it.

For equipment, get:

Full subjugation, Armadyl, Bandos (incl. boots/gloves, no weapon/shield).

At least t80 weapons as listed above.

Saradomin's whisper & hiss + arcstream.

Due to increased kph, bonecruncher + demon horn sustains prayer at a lot of places.

Start on Player-owned Ports for tank gear.

Void, imbued single-style rings, alerter and god capes are still good. Barrows is t70 tank gear, which makes it useless: Anything that you do need to tank, t70 isn't good enough for.

Dungeoneering-wise, there's w77 which can be ok but usually requires 110+ or 113+ for better teams (and even those can be pretty bad). Other than that you have to stick with friends and clanmates you know are good.

I currently have:warrior (i), seer (i), archer (i) and about ten million gp to use.

You are completely broke, since by selling all the other stuff you mentioned will not even get you to 20m, which is roughly what a proper power armor set (subj/arma/bandos) costs.

I suggest you restart the gp duping machine MtK immediately and you should do ALL gp producing dailies, because currently, you are worse than poor. Before you get a nex set & T9 weapons, you can forget about making money through bossing; when you save up enough for a gwd power set, you should be able to do some weak (and not as profitable) bosses, such as glacors, gwd & qbd, which should take care of your money problems for the time.

By the way, as Q suggested, you should focus on ports. After a month or a few, you will have PoP armor, which should by then suffice for tanking normal bosses, like nex or kk.

You could stick to fury (3.2M) if you're unwilling to buy Saradomin's whisper and murmur (5.1M and 1.8M) which only provide a critical increase of 0.2% to each of their respective classes.

Get the offhand chaotic claw first, so you can at least dual wield it with chaotic rapier for t80 melee dw, and then get the mainhand one for the critical bonuses over rapier (but only after you get chaotic staff first for t80 magic).

Try to get royal crossbow asap, as it's much cheaper to obtain and maintain that dw chaotic xbows, and has generally better DPS (snapshot's extra damage is probably superior to needle strike's critical bonus) fixed in an update.

In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.

Damn. It is as bad as I thought. I guess I will be doing dailies for a few days/weeks then mid-tier bosses to get caught up.

I noticed a lot of level 90 requirements for player-owned ports. You guys mentioned it would take a few months to get a full set. I guess that includes doing the actual mini-game and getting the required levels. I am around level 80 for most of those skills.

It takes a couple of months to get ports armour just for the minigame. Ports were released 11th of December (2012), I got all three superior sets the 15th of April (2013) and max port score the 20th of June. And while I wasn't as fast as you could be - we know more about the best routes now - that's roughly the pace you can expect.

Since you're not on the hiscores (yet?), it's a bit hard to tell, but Runetracker suggests you have 90 fishing, which would help as it's the stat most helpful in getting plate (for melee armour).

I'll give rockshell armor a try.

I see I can have multiple dungeoneering binds now. What binds are best? I have a silk hood and promethium 2h from before and then the default armors that come with a low complexity floor.

For player-owned ports, should I always send ships at 100%? I had a voyage with a 94% completion rate, but I wasn't sure if I should have sent it out.

My benchmark is 60%, I send it if it reaches that minimum. (And yes, new regions will eventually go that low, but it will pick up again towards the middle of the zone)

Looking at your stats, it probably goes like this:

primal 2h > primal maul > primal spear > celestial wand + orb > prom 2h

primal plate > primal chain > celestial robe > prom plate

You can keep ssh, yet it is a lot less useful on occ/warped.

If you go for magic, bind box with law runes; otherwise bind hex (since you do not have 99 range) and prom arrows.

I'd just go with plate + primal 2h weapon + ssh for now, bind a t11 shortbow + arrows and blood necklace when you can. Hexhunter bows are no good right now, though you can bind one for rarity (and hope it gets buffed).

Should I apply poison to arrows? Or just get the 225 arrows as quickly as possible. I remember you couldn't apply poison to binded arrows.

And how should I go about getting t11 items I can weild? Host a full "item hunt" with 6:6 small settings on a dungeoneering world and hope for the best?

I dont think poison in DG works like the old way anymore. At least out of DG, after EoC, you actually "drink" the poison and for the next minute or so all of your attacks have a chance to poison the target.

From what I understand, you would host 5 man C6 floors that have the highest chance to give you the boss you need.

It takes a lot of time to form a party (unless you play during US day) and then a lot of time to get the desired item for yourself. If you consider going with melee, zerker ring compensates some of the accuracy loss and thus you should not really bother.

Hosting item hunts works, there's quite often a few maul hunters out there, for ssb it's probably harder and you should just do a regular large occult.

Poison is no longer employed by players.

  • 2 weeks later...

I tried fighting some glacors today; I haven't done glacors before. I was using guthix cape, arcane, seers(i), subjugation set, and chaotic staff. No scrimshaws or auras. I was trying to follow this

.

I did not do well. I can't get a hold of the rhythm. I wasn't doing damage fast enough to prevent damage. I rewatched the video, saw that the guy was moving a bit, and realized that I was standing still throughout the fight. That was one of my problems. Maybe I should start out bring some food/unicorn with me? Do you guys have any other information?

What's bad about barrage with the staff? I noticed the area affect killed the unstable and sapping glacytes before the enduring one if I stuck to auto-attack.

I had both and still wasn't able to heal through the damage.

I tried again while moving around and it did work a little better.

i can only tell you how i do it, it's probably inefficient but works for me, i attack the glac with regular abilities, when the little ones pop out i get enduring on me, use the chain attack, then wild magic, so long as youre far away he should be dead and the other 2 up to half dead, then i kill unstable if there's time then just finish off sappling, then i just use asphyxiate on the glac and that usually kills him

so long as you avoid the special attack killing him in the end usually heals you pretty much to max, if you ever do get caught by anything then just use the healing abilities, vampyrism makes it much easier though tbh

If you're only using auto-attacks for the glacytes, you'll take quite long to kill them, especially since the barrage nerf. Try using Impact and Dragon Breath instead for high damage (DB should be AoE as well though it doesn't work well).

Excuse me for hijacking this thread, but I am in a similar state as the OP (just returned, altough I have around 120m bank). What are those gp producing dailies? :)
