Ok, new question then. How do you unlock new regions? I've done several voyages today, with no significant progress at all. :<

I assumed when the next zone reaches 100% we'd get a new region, so keep doing voyages is my plan.

Also got this for the bar maids thingy (I enjoyed serving beer):

I think you get 2-3% progress towards the next zone with each successful mission. I'm at 84% right now.

I believe (and I haven't expanded the territory I can venture to yet so don't quote me on this) that just by simply doing missions (especially, or possibly only, those that reveal new territory, like the cyclops one) your percentage of the are you're exploring will increase. This can be seen on the map. I'm assuming once you reach 100%, you'll be able to just move onto the next area.

Just reached 100% on the first part of the map, lost the unlock screen but it said something like ''You have unlocked the skull region and can now receive gun powder and send adventurers on voyages to look for scrolls. Here are some screenies of the port management.

And a voyage with gunpowder reward

Edit: Just got the chance to recruit a new crew member; Eastern Guide. Costs 250 chimes & 80 gunpowder but has base stats of 0, 0, 350 seafaring, 0.

My first thought was that it was a shame I didn't go all the way to 90RC, since with the nuke to the span shortly after I stopped, fishing would be the skill I would bring to 90, and that would take a while. Then I remembered I actually did take RC to 90, and all is good. I'll have to try it out this week.

Still surprised that this isn't a skill, considering how big it is. Especially considering they made DG into a skill...

Much agreed. In almost every respect this is the sailing skill. Jagex just promised the skill itself would never happen, instead it is a massive minigame. Think I would actually enjoy this as a skill... would in many regards be a farming like skill which I enjoy.

The Skull region voyages take quite a bit longer then the initially arc region. They start out at an hour and 10 minutes. I have two out currently for 120 coins and 80 slate, will have to wait until morning for them though. Also a whole host of new crew members in the Skull region as well.

Oh and as to the map of the entire Eastern region, I don't think its complete. If you have done the cyclopes island (or however Jagex spelled it) then you'll notice it is not on the map hedgehog hosted, leaves some room for some more special voyage islands to be discovered I think.

Had a bunch of extra bamboo after I unlocked the second region, finished my second round of voyages and bought all the ship/port parts that require bamboo (with the exception of the bar and office that also require steel) so I bought the ornate portal. It's cosmetic only but I thought it looked nice.

Also here are some crew member traits:

Plucky - Improved combat (it doesn't say how by how much in a percentage so I'm assuming it's dependent on the crew member's level and base stats)

Eagle Eye - Improved Seafaring (assuming the same as plucky)

Eager - Improved Morale (...)

Solidarity - Gives +25 stats to per unique crew member aboard (does not stack) my personal favorite so far

Short Sighted - Reduced Seafaring (see plucky)

Rallying Cry - All xp gains for this crew member's boat are increased by 10%

Merchant - Improve the goods received by a mission by 10% (does not stack)

I know crew members can have more than one trait (my captain has two) but idk what the limit is.

I'm...lukewarm to this at the moment. I did enjoy sending out my ships, and I will admit that a lot of my negative feelings were just me making mistakes and getting used to the interface, it's just too bad that I only started after the day changed so I wasn't able to do as many runs. Guess the one thing I'm not so happy with is that it kinda prevents me from powertraining, especially rc in runespan since by the time I have all the runes I need and traverse I don't have much grind time before the ship comes. I'm sure a routine will come about, and it works pretty well in intervals with the daily tasks I get.

pretty neat, i had a challenge it was with the black market guy not paying the assassians so i had to find 5 assassians, and pick out 5 ppl they were after, got a powder keg and a fortune of the sea attribute for my ship

and yes, the island of cyclosis isnt on the map hedge posted, i unlocked it and it is south of "The Island that Once Were Turtles".

I succeeded in the cyclosis mission thing, do I have to wait for the captain to randomly appear in the bar?

The cyclops are crew members that you can hire. They appear in the crew members roster randomly and you have to recruit them.

I wanted the SS Anne but it's not available. A thousand curses Jagex.

From the empty days of hope, deny the darkness
Follow my voice, we'll run far away from here

If only to hide, to escape this life
And live forever, forever in the sun
