I've had a lot more than 9 days with 4 scopes, but I do sometimes miss a scroll. Not very often, lately I've failed more than I missed.

Second day in a row without scrolls. I keep getting 2 adventurers (even compatible ones) but they give me 900 steel joint missions. No scrolls or resources or even storylines.

You can send one of them off for an xp mission (yes waste, but ok) and the other one will be rerolled to possibly give you a scroll. Still, sucks :S.

Sometimes that does not work, I once had two adventurers which gave me two double voyages (for resources and XP IIRC), no single ones.

 

I had to use 2 adventurer rerolls in order to get a scroll mission in the past 3 days, which otherwise would have resulted in none

 

98% into bowl, should hit pincer when I return home today... about f'ing time

that is ridiculous, considering you should complete the story missions (and therefore get the armor) in ~3 months total.

DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers rings

QBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow parts

CR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size.

It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

I have completed 36 storylines, only the trio ones remain. Furthermore, even after you complete all the trade-good storylines, it isn't enough for the armours. So you need to hunt for them in 5's. It's the end of February, and I started on day 1. Meh. And of course I only one FOTS left.

Which is why it makes no sense that they pushed for the armors to be less desirable than the 80-tier armor.

After all the time and effort put in, they should be special armor.

 

If they truly can't allow themselves to buff the armor, at the very least they should let the superior version be non-degradable.

Still find it odd how I can get the occultist in my port with only 84 RC. I got a 5 chi mission or 25k exp. I'm actually leaning towards the 25k exp.

I belive the requirements are for the story missions only.

People getting adventurers pre-level are confusing because despite some claims here everywhere states the req is for the adventurer, not just the story. Also only a few people have reported it, I for example have never seen the Botanist without 90 herblore and the Assassin never turned up until I had 90 slayer.

In general it seems the ONLY mission they are meant to turn up for at first is their 'Meet the...' mission which then unlocks them for other missions - based on my first few days in ports.

 

Whaler came in on tutorial.

Day 2 I had Meet the Missionary and failed.

Day 3 I had whaler missions and Meet the Convict, succeeded

Day 4 I had Convict missions and meet the occultist, succeeded

Day 5 I had Convict and Occultist missions

Day 6 I had whaler and meet the missionary, succeeded.

From then on I had a mix of missions from the 4 until like the day after 90 slayer Meet the Assassin showed up and since then had missions for the 5

But never a sight nor sound of the Botanist with my 86 herby.

Would definitely go crew first. The ship upgrades iirc are only 350/200/200 for hulls/deck/bow respectively and are exorbitantly expensive. Be prepared to spend a lot of chimes whatever you do though.

I started Pincers with ~80k chimes and went as low as ~10k chimes, but never had too few of them, so it's doable. If you have a bad steel/chime ratio you can always gather some jade/slate and get the steel shipwright/lodgings for max port score.

I've had the convict into my port 3 times now with 86 theiving.... Not sure how, but It doesn't give storyline missions, just xp/steel. I have no idea how he's coming into port, but He is. I'll upload some pics later.

I thought it was 5 of each crew, 5 ox, 3-4 merchants and 1-2 jod that had been posted as the best choice.

Anyone remember what page the 'ideal' pincers/end game crew setup was on? Or what it is?

 

I currently have:

5 Ferocious Tiger-Riders

5 Travelling Bands

5 Harems of Fortune-Tellers

4 Oxheads and Horsefaces

3 Jade Merchants

3 Judge of Dice

 

It works pretty well for me.

Built and saved my potential "ideal" maxed crew. It assumes no personal bonus or trait bonus on the crew and only perfect traits on the captains. This is what I came up with for:

Captains:

Pure Moral - 4 moral Traits

Moral Seafaring - Moral based captain - 4 seafaring traits

Pure Combat - 4 Combat Traits

Pure Seafaring - 4 Seafaring Traits

Seafaring Combat - Seafaring Captain - 2-4 Combat Traits 0-2 Seafaring traits.

 

Crew:

3 Jade Merchants

4 Ox Head

3 Judge of the Dice

5 Combat

5 Moral

5 Seafaring

 

No Merchants

22500 Moral - 85%

22500 Combat - 85%

22500 Seafaring - 82%

 

Merchants

22500 Moral - 77%

22500 Combat - 74%

22500 Seafaring - 71%

 

No Merchants

11500 Moral - 11500 Combat - 90%

11500 Moral - 11500 Seafaring - 91%

This is all reasonable in my mind, only thing I would consider is an addition judge and merchant, thing is though you don't use judges on single stat ones and I'm hoping to have scroll missions for a while which don't need merchants which is why I went for this build.

 

As a note all of these numbers could potentially be higher if you got crew with traits/personal bonuses and personal bonuses on captains.

Of course, this was debated then and could be debated again.

Yes, but that won't change the fact that somewhere down the line, you will only ever go after trade goods anyway and you won't even care about any other resources because you simply don't need them.

 

On a side note, in case no one knew, the max amount of Life boat you can hold onto, unused, is 1. I had a random earlier this morning and got a life boat, only to get the dreaded "You are holding the maximum number of...." message.

 

Glasses and FotS are still at 3 though.

 

<showoff> With anyluck I should complete my Vampyrism scrimshaw today, and leaving me with 36 scrolls left to get (8 scrimshaws and the soup), probably will go after the mage random elemental damage scrimshaw next, unless someone has better suggestions? :P </showoff>
