I'm not sure if I like that the energy is buyable. This won't let you buy levels, but money will help with faster xp rates.

EDIT: Apparently keepsaked capes can still be worn. Congrats compers.

If it wasn't buyable then the production skill coming out next year would literally be DIY only.

That's not certain is it? Couldn't it be like wc->fletching? You buy a tradeable ingredient and use it in the new skill.

Though I think it's probably fine, you still have to do some work even when buying energy - and my hope is that the production skill also is more work than just buying resources and prosessing like smithing/cooking.

EDIT ON THIS POST TOO:

Alternating between two spots gives you memories a lot faster. I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature though - since it basically resets the timer between collecting. What's your opinions?

Curse you, work!
Looking forward to training this evening. I got to level 5 before work and it seems fun enough. Kinda worried how this will affect the market though with the ability to transform ores and such.

Looks like it's time to get cleaned up and head to Gamestop to trade in (hopefully) enough ps3 games to get a membership card.

Portable rune rock at 94 is what caught my eye. With rune ore being floor priced because of rune item alch price, I can see that being quite lucrative.

Wee.

This skill is incredibly boring! For the most part you do quite little and the xp rate is low. There is also no variety up to now (just got level 35).

Am I the only one who thinks this is way too blatant recycling of old content and ideas? I mean c'mon. Runespan with a deposit box. The hole in the ground where you put these memories is like some unused object from battle of Lumbridge archive. These nodes (energies) you siphon (collect) don't even have different graphics on them even though they're different things. How much time would it have taken to make them even different colour for little change? I admit I only just started but first 20 levels and forward seems same thing just over and over again. With xp slowly balancing with your levels just making each one of them take longer. The idea of new skill was nice but this whole concept how it is put out just lacks creativity and makes it very dull and what seems like pointless update. Atleast considering it was an update that has been hyped for the last year or more. Doesn't quite live up to it.

Sorry to be a downer. And yes I know RuneScape is based on doing repetitive things but atleast you have some things that you can decide yourself. Like the places where to train and have multiple options for what you're going to do. With divination you just do level 1-10 catching stuff in one place and deposit it in a hole. Level 11-20 is same thing again. Nothing is different except the energies you get and the XP. Now I'm training towards 30 and it is the same thing again. Dull!

Unless the XP rates really jack up later on, this is going to be a long slog to 99.

Plus the rewards look like garbage.

I think when you have such exciting skills as Woodcutting and Fishing to live up to, Divination is a rollercoaster of a gathering skill in comparison. Some of the random events so far are really, really nice.

Gathering skills have always been boring--the fact that it has a psuedo-production-skill element tacked on to it as well only makes it better. There's a lot of potential for new rewards and interesting things coming out of this, although some of the biggest game-changers are already here.

Really liking this skill so far--the higher level herb Divine Locations seem like they will be the most worth-it ones to spend your cap on. Hoping to get 51 by the end of the day to try those out.

I love the locations they've put the colonies in. Using Dragontooth Island for something is definitely not what I expected :P
