Challenge done.

 

Yep, easy... Some people bugged it so they could get in with no items and wear no team cape.

This happened to me. Didn't attempt to bug it, I just spawned it without a cape or armor. After one death, I respawned with armor.

I don't see the logic of having a senior = not a ruler.

 

The Duke is still ruling over Lumbridge, yes if King Rolad tells him to do something he has to do it but he is largely independent and in charge of ruling over the subjects and lands. I mean does Battle of Lumbridge not showcase this exact fact what with King Rolad doing nothing whilst the Duke works to defend and rebuild?

Because you give Jagex a simple task, they'll manage to figure out a way to screw it up. I'd hate to see them cook.

I am in world 44, and it is absolutely filled with lag, for everyone. We can't move for long periods of time, and you only get to take a step before you're frozen again. Is Jagex cheapening out on server costs or something? The same thing happened with Battle of Lumbridge and the resource instances. A few people would join a world, and suddenly it would go to instance. This never happened before (for me). Just a few months ago I was in a much more crowded world 44 Soul Wars and I was able to play perfectly fine. Quite literally everybody is experiencing lag.

A word of warning for soul wars don't do it on world 44.

My game had such bad lag there was a delay between abilities activating and the game timer actually stopped/frozen?...was stuck on 6 minutes remaining for aobut 10 minutes almost, the one game took about 40 minutes to complete. As well as the usual move freeze move routine as per with lag.

Just a head's up to anyone thinking of trying it.

World 2 is a good world to do it on, I joined with 9 minutes remaining and it only took 9 minutes. If we think this is bad though, what's Big Chinchompa going to be like? I don't know how many worlds there actually are for it, but the fact you can only play it on the hour should make it nice and busy.

I wonder what caused people (incl. me) to spawn without capes. Maybe it has to do with the glitch that shows you without items equipped near the Duel Arena, when it's really supposed to only not show keepsakes. Either way it's interesting to see that it's the SW capes that act as team capes and hide the 'attack' option on friendly players (even though you still can't attack them, even without capes).

The glitch where it shows you unequipped made it to swars too.

 

I was un-armed and un armoured in my game until around my 5th death at which point I spawned showing my gear again and the cape kicked in. Though I didn't wield my weapon correctly when not fighting for the remainder of the game.

That happened to me as well. I originally thought that it was some sort lag control, but now I am not sure. You can click "clear all" in the Customization interface and click activate (you may have to do this more than once), and the glitch will go away.

the same glitch with armour happened to me as I entered the waiting room, I simply unequipped and re-equipped my bcp and it fixed everything, yet I still held my ZGS like a longsword the entire game.

According to facebook w44 is still a no go (same issues I posted earlier), but w2 is relatively lag free supposedly. bear in mind this is only the general consensus of facebook fans though so take it for what it's worth.

I've heard from clan mates single games in w44 can take up to 4 hours to complete due to all the lag literally forcing things to over run.

 

It's nice how Jagex on the heels of a borked challenge where 1/2+ of the npcs that should've worked didn't send us to a minigame that clearly hasn't been stressed tested for such high volumes and subsequently is breaking.

 

At this rate challenge 30 is going to be something like log in to the game and the log in button is just going to disappear for the day.

Back when soul wars was released it was extremely packed as well but did not lag at all.

How do you imagine Jagex stress testing old content anyway? Only way to get tons of players doing it is by releasing stuff like super september which they did.

Upcoming soulwars rework anyone? (didn't Mark mention plans to rework a bunch of them in 2014?)

You can do some stress testing with artificially generated traffic and for something to be so wrong that it can cause a 20 min game to run 3 hrs even that basic stress testing would show something up.

 

For something that was built many years ago, heck even just pre-eoc, it'd make sense to run some sort of stress test on it before doing something you know is going to drive thousands upon thousands of players in to it at the same time. Just to be sure it functions reasonably.
