Would explain why my game DC'd :P

RSOF is alight with hilarity right now. Check it out if you feel as if you can stomach the silliness.

If I wanted to see something mind-numbingly stupid I would watch Justin Bieber do anything.

Ok I m starting to get my head around it. But the one claim i dont get is that he said it would take billions out of the economy and this just isnt the case. If players are buying the bond and selling it to GP, thats just causing GP to be moved around, not removed. And very few people are going to be silly enough to trade it twice and incur the 10% tax, so i really cant see that removing much GP.

So you can trade in 35 bonds for a runefest ticket.... That's not too bad a deal.

Considering bonds are 10.5m each...

I'm going to runefest.

Also I posted this on rsof:

This is kinda odd, but I support it, good for those who are rich ingame, and poorer in real life.

Sums up my general opinion after reading it through.

Good for Jagex too seeing as 35 bonds (using the gbp price, coversions may alter it) is £105 vs a £99 straight up ticket.

The problem with the community is they don't understand it. They are being sugar coated by the Anti RWT/Goldfarmers debate. They think its making things nice and dandy. But no, thats not the case. It will likely only tap their profit down a tiny bit. Bots will still bot. Gold will still be sold at a much cheaper price. Jagex is making the economy swim around and gaining money from it.

You get to request up to two tickets if you pay by bonds.

In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.

IE this merely changes who pays for the services from Jagex, and who benefits from it.

This.

Goldfarmers will continue to farm, and sell at a rate lower than bond/rsgp so it stays cheaper. Who will buy bonds then? Assuming they are targeting this at ppl who RWT

This summarized my reaction very well. I'm surprised how well the community is taking this - looking at the YouTube comments and such! I'm blown away.

Even here, you have a lot of players that are completely fine with player-to-player RWT, so it isn't that surprising.

Hmmm, so say player A buys 2 bonds for 6 pounds and sells them for RSGP. Player B who provided the GP then uses it on their membership. The membership fee player B would have paid has been replaced by the price paid for the bond which is 1.05 pounds more for than a standard membership of 4.95

Youve got to admit its some very clever accounting on Jagex's part

so if its 10.5m currently and that has a value of 3 pounds, you can currently buy 200m GP for 60 pounds...

You could get 200mil for about 45 quid from farmers.......so I dont see how this is ment to coutneract the farmers

That was my thinking. Guess it allows people who are good at making money in RS but not in real life a way to pay for membership though.

That is pretty much the norm

Personally to me this just seems to be Jagex's way of taking money from people who sell gold as opposed to buying it from other companies. Buying bonds is essentially buying gold as players can sell it as such. They're trying to mask it by saying it reduces people buying gold and' stabilises' the economy which it won't, as buying bonds does the exact same thing, Jagex just wants the money as opposed to other companies getting it. The only decent thing is getting membership 'for free' buy buying a bond using GP, but most non-members probably won't even come close to affording them. This idea sounded convoluted as soon as I heard about it.
