Would I be best off just ditching my three oxheads, replacing them with one of each single-stat crew, or are they still worth using on the triple stat voyages? (keeping one of the three)

There is no reason to switch any crew before getting to a new region- you wouldn't be able to train any of them to be worth it. In general, it is highly unlikely(or almost impossible) that oxheads will now be useful post pincers(as we have already seen loop crew be 1500 per).

A tip to anyone in the same boat as most of us(gathering distance): success doesn't matter. You are better off doing a 700 steel mission at 0% than 140 steel mission at 100%.

Though of course running a voyage at a worse percentage comes at a higher risk of death and killing off level 10 crew at such a late stage will only hinder your success ratings now and in the early stages of the next region; thereby slowing down your acquiring of the new resources and improving the ship and crew

Crew can't die if you have 4 life-boats, which most people do.

As far as I was aware you get 1 lifeboat per ship and each lifeboat can only save 1 crew per voyage meaning if you fall really badly and have 2+ deaths some of them actually die.

I'm a ports newb, but I'm wondering: do you need to unlock the new regions to get the new items? Or could I, for example, start off and just try to get the ring (the only item that really interests me) and get it relatively quickly?

You won't get anything quickly in ports. If you start from 0 right now it would take you months to get any of the armors or other rewards.

Does anyone else still have the voyage reroll glitch, where you get it from the random events but can't use it even when you have 0 of them? This has been happening since I capped everything way back with the original ports and wasn't fixed with the update.

You don't need to unlock the new regions (you'll probably get the ring before you get to the last region), but what xpx said still holds: chances are you'll get the ring in a couple of months if you start now.

I wonder if it'll be worth getting the Loop's crew.

I mean, assuming we all got lv10 Pincers crew with 2400 stats, the Loop's would have to be at least lv6 to match that, and I wonder if they'll be that good by the time we reach the shield.

Part of the thing with pincers crew is that they gained levels very quickly because of how long voyages are, right? It probably won't be too much of an issue, and you could presumably train them in earlier regions if the requirements get too high too quickly (As they did in the pincers, from my experience).

Got myself the darts first. Ava's devices DO NOT work on them. Given that they are 10k a pop and fastest speed(alot of auto-attacks), means they are pretty unusable as of right now.

And yes, ofcource it will be worth getting Loop crew. The thing is, they will likely be extremely rare to reroll and it'll take alot of time to get all of them.

1825 steel per chi... I have 50k steel. Should I go for it?

Otherwise I'm just going to wait until there is an offer on spices or plate for soup or money

Well... chances are you won't be getting sufficient steel to buy out every single offer that comes along, so you should save your steel for plate, as that's the most valuable (they all cost the same, don't they?). Once you hit the Loop, you certainly won't be getting steel at an appreciable rate.

Finally the RNG gods have shone on me. I got my 4th scroll voyage and sent it at 88%. Hopefully its a success. Then I am going to work on getting the leviathan ring crolls.

I had 10 Plate for 1k Steel each yesterday, which was a no-brainer considering I'm now sitting on 363k of the damn stuff !

I just finished the reefwalker cape scroll.

And so have hundreds of others. Now go and make one.

For the information we have right now, it might be that none of the standard story missions give a significant amount of koi scales (trapper is confirmed to be 18 pearls 7 koi, others COULD be 18 pearls 7 koi for architect and 18 pearls 7 spice for cook), which would mean the ring is significantly easier/faster to get(these 3 alone would put you at 72). In all likelihood there will be a trio mission giving 50/50 koi/pearls, but that is still atleast a week away from confirmation. I've currently completed 5 cook story missions so i should be able to confirm cooks pincer level reward in the coming days. In general, most people should be able to complete all scrolls/single storylines before making it to the Loop region.
