Unlikely, the top are already over 50% into pincers and they have not completed anywhere near the expected amount of scroll / missions, not to mention that stories are generally delayed until later due to the fact that stories do not contribute to mileage (only the first story should always be done as soon as it is available).

 

Before shield region, I would agree with you, before loop is pushing it.

Before shield region, I would agree with you, before loop is pushing it.

I think you are forgetting that we all started at 27% trough Pincers. So being at 50% would mean you'd only have done a third of the 800k distance needed after update to reach Loop, and most of the people I know already have 4-6 scrolls and 6-10 story(of 12/18).

Wouldn't that be after coupious amount of saved up adv rerolls?

 

4-6 also seems to be VERY lucky with scrolls, since back when first pop maxers started showing up, we were averaging 2 scroll pieces every 3 days.

4-6 also seems to be VERY lucky with scrolls, since back when first pop maxers started showing up, we were averaging 2 scroll pieces every 3 days.

I had no adv rerolls at the update and am at 5 scrolls/9 story. It's also a good idea(as you also suggested) to rather focus on scrolls right now and stories later as story missions do not give distance and have static difficulty, while scroll voyages will become extremely hard when you hit the Loop.

Yeah, that's what I had been doing, except I have seen, after 2 adv rerolls, 3 scroll missions (one of which I failed), and 3 story missions (just to meet the guys). I ditched 2 of the stories that showed up after because one of it was either that or scroll, I took scroll (which was the one that failed), and another because I needed the distance. I could always do the story later and it won't matter.

Do you all still have every random event item capped except for adv rerolls? because you should be getting an adv reroll at around a 60% clip. I've had 5/7, so far, though yeah, i've also been lucky with the missions i've got.

To be honest, and I'm only speaking for myself, I don't care if you were one of the first people to get comp back. On top of that, it takes no skill to retrieve it, you just have to hope you get lucky with scroll voyages.

 

Stuff like this should only be a personal achievement, and trying to get people to recognise said accomplishment is quite futile.

Seeking recognition wasnt really the point. My point was getting my upgraded cape back in a timely fashion. We seldome get the comp cape upgraded and i thought it was something exciting to reobtain. You are right though it doesn't take any skill. But being rude wasn't warranted.

Probably worth pointing out that this bit of the update post:

 

"From Friday, we're replacing all XP lamps on the Squeal of Fortune with fallen stars. These give slightly more XP than the lamps would have, but as Bonus XP that's given out as you train, rather than a lump sum as before. Keep an eye on the news for more details!"

 

Now reads as:

 

"From Friday, we're running a promotion during which all XP lamps on the Squeal of Fortune will be replaced with fallen stars. I actually prefer the idea of stars over lamps but there we go.

Yeah it was my understanding that lamps were being removed from the SOF.  I guess not.

I was under the impression that that was fixed, so I don't have all items capped. I did get an adventurer reroll (700 steel from the Biologist, nothing else -.-), so even better scroll luck there -.-.

I've been thinking lately I wonder where the new trio story will go.

 

The best I can fathom thus far is:

To trap the elusive creature the hunter is seeking they need the Archetects skills to construct a special trap and one of the cooks more dangerous dishes as bait and as poison.

The creature will then yield first and foremost the species discovery the hunter seeks, but he will realise creatures need protecting and not to make them extinct. The cook will find his perfect flavour/dish and repent his dangerous dish amking ways. The Architect will find some way to save her people from the earthquakes, given the overall theming I'd assume maybe something to do with living in harmony with nature rather than building.

there is shield? as i know there is only 3 new scrolls, ring, cape and the darts.. there is more?

EDIT: Darts should be in Death Lotus, not in misc. and add new item in each class, such as shield to Tetsu and probably book for Seasinger.

With this spoiler in mind I revise my theory on the trio plots course:

 

 

The creature plant must die to:

1) Give the trapper his trophy kill

2) Supply the cook with his ultimate ingredient

3) Stop the earthquakes for the archietect

 

By working together they can manage this, the architect to make a trap, the cook to bait it and the trapper to do the tracking and what not.

I am starting to think that the spices in those voyages are really supposed to be Koi Scales.

 

Inb4 Trio offers 50 pearls and 50 spices...

 

51% into next zone myself, going to send some long distance ones tomorrow.

 

Also, i think there may be some use with the Off hand DL darts, since OH rarely gets fired at all under normal circumstances, it may prove to be a viable substitute for an Asc off hand (since you only lose 24 damage out of over 1500).

So the FAQ came out and a lot of it is just made to be rage inducing in many ways

 

 


Q: Why is the shard cost on darts so high?

Mod Timbo: There is no upfront 'cost' to the Death Lotus Darts due to the weapon being the same as the ammo. To try and get this balance right between the amount of money/effort required to be the same as other weapons around it, we added this amount of shards to craft them each time. It is something that we're keeping an eye on and if the darts are seen to not be worthwhile due to the increased upkeep then we'll look at increasing the amount of darts created at a time.

 

Oh so if they aren't deemed worthwhile you'll look at changing it...is like all the fansites and the rsof hitting on the same issue of barely to not worthwhile due to overly high costs not sign enough to begin with? I mean sure I get the logic of the upfront cost thing, but they still are excessively expensive; imo 2-5 shards per dart would be perfectly fine since they dont even get picked up by ava so there is high potential to easily lose a lot of em. Not to mention the 'we'll monitor it it and see' stock answer generally leads to 'we'll do jack shit about it and then act all surprised people are unhappy when it is raised in a QA a year or two later'

 

 


Q: Why didn't you fix any current issues with PoP and only add in new content? I am speaking of interfaces since NIS, the assassin glitching through an urn during the black marketeer D&D, etc.

Mod Doctor: There we many Ports issued addressed in the update, some of which have existed since the initial released.

 

Oh so you did fix 'many' issues...how about telling us wtf some of them are? The fact this question was even an issue clearly shows we can't see any of these fixes so maybe being told wtf has been fixed would be nice. Equally doesn't really address the fact of why none of the other things were fixed eg the inbalance in ship part we were told in like 2012 they would look at. Or the very simple task of moving where an assassin stands so she's not in a dam barrel.

Q: Why were the ship names changed and was that intended?

Mod Doctor: The ship renaming was unavoidable. We added many new names (some were suggested by the players). We could have reset all ships back to default (“Ship”) or let you see some of the new names and give you ideas for renaming! However, we did not remove ANY names, so you can go back to what you had before. A lot of players have kept some of the ‘random’ names and have been tweeting me the results. HMS Grumpy Cat anyone?

 

Was it really unavoidable? The explanation given earlier was because you alphabetised the list. It strikes me it could've been avoided in 3 ways - don't alphabetise the list OR make a pre-launch tweak so the ship names are re-stored using identifiers opposed to 'number x of the list' OR make the alphabetised list a little messy by hardcoding list numerics so the old names retained their old numbers despite moving. Plus you did a great job on not actually explaining WHY they changed like the question asked - it's not even a tricky answer since it was already given out elsewhere.

 

At least in all this Osbourne gives us a glimmer of hope in a good answer

Mod Doctor: The scrolls are hard to translate and may refer to materials that no longer exist or are unknown, but other materials might be suitable as a substitute.

This was a pretty good answer, lol.

Mod Doctor: Maps fade over time.

Mod Moltare: He is faded only on the image. In our hearts, Mod Edam grins out as strong as ever.
