Behind the Scenes - February 2014

I am excited for the Quest. Hopefully this one will be a *real* GM quest (unlike certain other ones), but probably not.

I am terribly disappointed that the Gold Dragon lost -- what a tremendous mistake. It had the potential to be a new QBD, a solo high-level moneymaker. Instead everyone went for the Summoning supplies Dragon. The problem with that is the same that is there with every such dragon (including QBD). The reason people do them is for money, so if you have them drop noted resources, people just dump them for quick GPies, and that just crashes the market, and over time GP/hour decreases sharply. That's why gold caches are better, it removes the middleman, and you just get the GP up straight, and you can do whatever you want with it. With this dragon though, all it will do is crash summoning supplies, and that will be that, and once that happens, it won't be of much use, as a moneymaker, to people not looking for summoning supplies. At least a Gold Dragon would have been useful to a variety of players. God, people are shortsighted sometimes.

which also means cheaper summoning training. Which is why most people picked it. So not really short sighted just different goals then yours. and it shouldnt decrease to much with combat scrolls being usable again.

Me behave? Seriously? As a child I saw Tarzan almost naked, Cinderella arrived home from a party after midnight, Pinocchio told lies, Aladin was a thief, Batman drove over 200 miles an hour, Snow White lived in a house with seven men, Popeye smoked a pipe and had tattoos, Pac man ran around to digital music while eating pills that enhanced his performance, and Shaggy and Scooby were mystery solving hippies who always had the munchies. The fault is not mine! if you had this childhood and loved it put this in your signature!

The majority of the profits you get from QBD aren't straight-up coins, you get what practically is noted resources which people dump for quick GP and yet it remains one of the best money makers in the game.

We don't even know what kind of drops those dragons will have nor how they will work, so what if we waited until that point before knocking them?

And then there's what michel's saying; if those dragons turn out being 5 second kills that let you quickly farm a couple summoning materials, then they will remain popular as a way of training Summoning. Making the best GP/hour isn't the only reason people do things in the game.

Direct gold drops from monsters also leads to higher inflation with gold being worth less because of so much of it being in game which leads to higher prices for everything because people with access to this gold monster have all the money they need to buy things they want except they don't because supply can't keep up with demand so you have to pay more to get what you want.

The point is, there is far too much gp already in the game; intertrading between players (using the GE middleman as you put it) will, overall, keep the price of everything down, meaning the average player can afford more.

Had to double check what I was told just in case the quest could come out earlier, but yeah, be about the 18th.

Heist on Tuesday, apparently a no update week after that and then the quest *should* be on the 18th. Can't say that this is absolutely guaranteed, just what I've heard is all.

Mafia-style minigame? Excuse me while I indulge my heist fetish...

always wanted to rob the bank of Varrock.

I bet they still won't let us get that ruby ring.

They should let us get in there, click the ruby ring, "hmmmm, its a fake"

R.I.P. The olde nite. A legend is gone but not forgotten.

i hope you're all really good at pretending to be npcs, because i've got a loose trigger and an eye for the barest justification to use it

Lol thatS pretty funny, but that's going to be most of the community. This is a roleplaying minigame I think. I'm worried people might not play by the 'rules'.

Posted an idea of Heists and a DnD a while back on my blog, it will be interesting to see how their update will compare. Dragon update looks interesting? Abyssals getting wand/orb is well needed. If they have another 3 months of content like this, that actually looks useful and entertaining, I might come back to playing to catch up. Also because I miss hyt...

Roleplaying only works if everyone plays by the rules, and even then it's only as good as the weakest player (If RP communities ever seem viciously elitist, they have a very good reason for it)

Unfortunately, we have an entire community of players that could not possibly give less of a shit about either the rules or roleplaying.... And they're going to kill this thing, aren't they? :-(
