I voted for the Shield of Arrav since it is a core quest for beginners in Varrock.

I figured since Defender of Varrock was a failed one, then shield of Arrav seemed kind of a waste vote.

I voted for the crest quest because i felt a lot could be said if it failed.

Also think of the kind of rewards you got for the quest originally! them gloves are unique and cool. We need more rewards like that!
I wouldnt be surprised is jagex revisited the whole cullinaromancers time magic theme. The difference is they would use it to spin off into a parrallel universe with no adventurers.

I voted for Gertrude's Cat because that was the idea they pitched and I thought it was pretty cool. Looking at it again, Shield of Arrav could be cool, especially if it is a multiplayer quest. They haven't done one of those in a while.

The reason I didn't vote for SoA originally is I know they have changed it a lot over the years. I barely remember all the stuff I did and I doubt my experience was the same as the experience of many of the newer players.

Mod Stu wants feedback again for the 200th.

With the quest poll up for a few days, I think it's pretty clear which quests are likely to win, and since I've been informed I'll have less development time than previously anticipated, I need to finish the design and start production ASAP (while also finishing off Prifddinas).

As such, here's a space to discuss the Varrock sub-quests of the 200th quest (our second Special quest).

* Gertrude's Cat

* Shield of Arrav

* Demon Slayer

* Defender of Varrock

How do you imagine these quests would play out if there were no adventurers, no quests were completed, the Sixth Age never happened, and a year has passed?

What would Varrock be like in a world without you?

What would you like to do in these quests?

What rewards do you think would be appropriate?

I'm going to be using up some holiday allowance for a few days - not had much opportunity to use it this year, and it's only going to get busier from here! - but I'll continue to read your feedback from home.

Do they need our opinion on every little detail .-.?  How about a 'Surprise me!' option for once ^_^.

It seems more like a "the 200th is a big quest, I've got limited resources so I better see what player expectations are like so I can do the best I can with what I've got".

I think they are fishing for inspiration. Thats fine by me because i think some people can really make so crazy yet based suggestions.

Who knows... maybe delrith will be spotted sitting on a throne of blood and bone on a ruined varrock castle.

I'm going to go ahead and say it...

What if this is the beginning of the downward spiral? Jagex devotes less and less resources to game development; less content gets released; players leave for other MMO's causing yet another cut to game development, etc. etc.

I'm actually kind of worried.

I wouldn't be that alarmed. He says he's getting about the same amount of time for this quest as most quests get. Its just that he's also working on finishing up Elf City batch 2, going to be working on Ports update, and has this quest which as a "special" quest is really like several quests in one. So, its not that he's getting less time and resources than most, he's just not getting the extra time he thought he would.

Do you think their opinion may be 'the elf quest and city was going to be the 200th quest, we've already delivered these, therefore the 200th quest doesn't have to be that big a deal.'?

I think the main issue was that for a long time they weren't even really sure they would do anything special for the 200th. Then someone probably said "I have an awesome idea for quest 200". So they decided to go with that, mention it at Runefest and all that. But  we're already on 196 with 197 planned for October and we know of 2 other quests in development atm (Zammy Heist and Elder God). Which means they started the project too late because they have so little time before the 200th is needed.

Can't say how much is true, but I know for a while they were waffling on whether they'd do anything for the 200th, and its just getting started now while Mod Stu is still working on Elf Batch 2 and on the team for Ports update after. That seems to me that they were basically asking for last minute volunteers to take on a bunch of extra work in addition to whatever they were currently planned for.

Its come to my attention that if we were to do a tip.it community version of polling we would need a global system or some kind of outreach to advertise its existance. The polling subforum isn't an ideal place in my opinion.

Yeah, that's what the homepage polls aim to achieve I guess.  I suppose something could be linked but as long as it requires a forum account to vote, many lurkers will pass.

Yeah i dont think having a forum account should really matter. I also wouldnt mind reviving the update teasers sticky. Ive been making it my personal goal to get as many of these unofficial hidden updates, ninja teasers, unannounced dev blogs and their respective updates put out into our community. I know im not the only one either.

Yeah, we may not get special teasers ahead of everyone else but we could still potentially use it to post the spoilers and stuff, and then people can continue talking about them on the discussion thread.  I'll talk to other staff and see if that would be possible.

One could use Strawpoll. Doesn't require an account and can be IP-Locked.

Two new polls posted up. Both of them seem quite controversial.

Ironman Participation in Bonus Weekends/Events

Dragonstone

In the future should Ironman and Hardcore Ironman accounts be able to gain from double xp and other bonus weekend events like regular accounts do? Only Ironman accounts can vote on this poll.

Highest Total Wins

Only Ironman accounts can vote

Yes they should

You think Ironman accounts should benefit from bonus weekends and events. Based on feedback, another poll may be used to determine the rate of bonus xp.

No they should not

You do not think Ironman accounts should benefit from bonus weekends and events.

I don't mind

You don't mind one way or the other.

Monster Aggression

Diamond

Should we make some monsters aggressive again? These monsters would hunt players as if they were in single way combat. These include some dragons, giants and demons. For a full list of NPCs, check the forum thread for this poll.

Highest Total Wins!

Make Aggressive

You would like these monsters to be made aggressive again.

Leave as is

You would like to leave these monsters as being non-aggressive.

I don't mind

You don't mind one way or the other.

Do they EVER learn?  Either slap a total level requirement on said ironmen to vote, or allow only accounts created before 10/29 to vote.  That way, people can't game the vote.

Aggressive monsters?  YES, let us afk to train combat like it was before, even if the xp rates are lower as compared to full ability bashing out.

Oh wait, none of those monsters are anything I would ever train on, save demons which are bound to become overcrowded.

Oh I remember running past blue dragons trying not to get hit by dragonfire.
