EDITTED: Meleeing QBD?

Recommended Posts

Decided just to repurpose this thread, since I seem to have 2 others on the front page here..

I've been QBD'ing about an hour at a time lately. I thought I was doing pretty well, consistently getting two kills per OVL dose towards the end of my run tonight.

However, the RSWiki speaks of 20 kills per hour. I believe I only got 16 tonight, and that was on task.

This is my typical loadout:

[set=head:10844,body:10842,legs:10843,gloves:12518,boots:12517,neck:12783,cape:10670,ring:8735,weapon:13373,shield:13375]

This is what I use on-task:

[set=head:14832,body:10842,legs:10843,gloves:7441,boots:12517,neck:12783,cape:10670,ring:8735,weapon:13373,shield:13375]

My strategy is dead simple: spam the hell out of Steel of Legends, swig Summoning Potions when necessary, use Revolution and Assault > Destroy whenever possible. I of course have OVL and Turmoil going constantly.

I ignore just about every special attack the QBD does other than super hot breath, the 4x spirit, and timestop spirit in stage 4. I'm usually through her first 3 stages extremely quickly, the 4th however tends to slow me down a bit.

What can I even do to improve this setup? Is there something crucial I'm missing?

EDIT: Forgot I have a ton of Dreadnips. I'll try using those too next time.

EDIT2: Tried Dreadnips, they seemed to help a little. Still only managed 17 kills today's hour.

QBD is the best one out of all those, consistently making 6.5-7m/hr. The XP is pretty shit though, about 80-85k melee XP, not sure about HP xp.

Airuts are probably around 2.5-3m/hr, depends on your luck with scales.

Glakkers, last time I checked, were about 5.5m/hr

Frosts 3.5-4m/hr maybe.

Glacors are only decent (for money, its always good for xp) with a sgs legendary pet. At the most 5m/hr nowadays, with sgs pet looting for you. Otherwise its about 4m/hr. As far as xp goes, its 5311 magic xp per kill, estimating 125-130 kph with full t80 gear (wand) + sgs pet, ~100 with cstaff and no sgs pet.

Airuts offtask are pretty bad, and with t80 weapons, not worth doing at all.

Leik knows a lot about qbd.

Muspah with cstaff are around 550k mage/hr + 2.5-3m with looting. Profit comes pretty much solely from rune items + dragon maces.

Dag Kings are pretty good too.

How would QBD be with the aforementioned ASC MH DLDart OH?

About how many QBD loots do you have to do to get those kinds of amounts?

I know it wasn't directed at me but the main reason I switched to Ranged was to loot losslessly. ;)

What

You don't need a solomon pet for anything

You can loot things losslessly

QBD is slowest with range, but fastest with Mage (seismics however). Best bet is drygores for QBD, if you don't have 23242345234 gigabils.

How many lanta, vissys, and bow pieces per hour do you have to get to 6.5 at qbd? I just did 2 hours and only got 7.5...

“I had a feeling we weren’t coming back from this fight when it began.”

“Do you have any regrets?”

“I don’t. It seems surprising, I know, but I wouldn’t change a thing. This is how it was meant to be.”

“Huh, you never really notice how lovely the day is until you realize you’ll never see it again.”

“Mmmhmm.”

I live at Nex however I'm guessing it might not be the most efficient since nobody else has mentioned it as far as I've read. Nex and Glacors are the only bosses that don't bore me to death, which is my main deciding factor at the end of the day

Rise of the Six is currently the best money making method for PvM (from what I've heard at least, could do the math to compare vs. vorago) Though looking at some math I did earlier rago is probably like 8m p/h, whereas ROTS is 10m+ from what I've heard. Would definitely be doable with asc+dl+pernix.

What is the acceptable gear to get into Vorago teams?

And, what's the best Slayer gear if you want a one-style fits all tasks? Between Virtus Wand+Seismic Singularity or Dual Ascensions or Dryg Maces?

I'm guessing because of Berserk lol..

Also, is Malevolent worthwhile for QBD? Using Dual Maces.

I'm wondering if I can get 2 minute kills Berzerking, spamming Steel of Legends, in Malevolent... Maybe allow me to get 2 kills per OVL dose?

Maybe 1 and a half minute kills on-task with Mighty FSH and Dragon Slayer Gloves? Am I just being way too hopeful here?

Depends on respective rotations but most math about rots doesn't take into account failed kills (rots is really the only boss, outside of MAYBE 5 man rago on shit weeks like teamsplit) where failed kills happen with significant frequency even among good teams.

best drops (reasonably accurate/up to date): 1x Elysian Sigil (LS), 1x Arcane Sigil (cs), 4x Armadyl Hilt (solo at 100m, 100m, 50m, and 5m), 2x Saradomin Hilt (solo at 25m), 5x Draconic Visage (34m,1.2m,1.2m) and various cs/ls/ffa Nex splits.
Drygore Drops: 7 Longswords, 3 Maces, 3 Rapiers, 3 Off-hand Rapiers,  5 Off-hand Maces, 3 Off-hand Longswords

ROTS Shields: 12  Seismics: 16

Ascension Crossbows: 6  Spider Legs: 10

Countless Armadyl armour pieces, Saradomin amulets, Dragon Hatchets, and Fremenik Rings.

Try Nex. It's easy once you get the hang of it and is pretty decent money (surprisingly considering how long it's been around). I pretty much do this boss for my income.

I choose Glacors if I want both XP and GP at the same though but I assume you don't care for XP that much.

Don't use revolution.

Use adrenaline potions.

Berserk through phases 1&2 or 4

Stall adrenaline between kills.

Use an aura : Penance = no need for prayer besides renewals, Vamp = much less rocktails used.

Use a vamp scrimshaw. Any time you can avoid eating you'll spend more time dealing damage.

Armadyl Drops : 4 Hilts; 3 Chestplates; 2 Chainskirts; 1 Helmet; 1 Buckler; 2 Shard 1; 2 Shard 2; 1 Shard 3

Nex : 1 Zaryte Bow

Kalphite King : 1 Drygore Rapier ; 1 Drygore Longsword : 1 Drygore Offhand Rapier : 1 Drygore Offhand Longsword

So I looked at your video on screenshots. Only watched first kill and a bit, but a few things would be:

Don't use your thresholds on phases when qbd is about to die. Thats just wasting cooldowns. Stick with basic abilities if qbd is under 30% health.

I'm not sure why you're finishing kills with so low adrenaline (eating on phase 4 maybe?). Don't top off your hp after each kill, first phase qbd doesnt do damage and you can heal off that. When you are on phase 4 and in between kills, prioritize adrenaline over hp.

On that note, stall adrenaline between kills so you use berserk when the first phase is at ~70%. This way, kill first phase with basic attacks while berserked, then use assault at the start of phase 2. On phase 3, use destroy and basics, getting to 100% adren again. Phase 4 use destroy and assault, then whatever basics you need, leaving you with 70+%. Do not eat anything and stay at this adrenaline level until the start of the next kill. Also use sacrifice on a worm as you run to the final crystal for free hp.

Wear Berserker Ring (regular, not imbued) instead will increase your blockchance.

If you're getting 2 kills per overload, then you're killing QBD at a rate of 2.5min each, or 24 kill/hr without counting banking.

Banking must have been soaking up a lot of time then. There were some times that I would be able to go 3 OVL doses (6 kills) without banking by taking the Rocktails from the coffers, and sometimes that I would have to bank after just one dose.

Could I get a good ability bar to use? I want to try it now off-task without using Revolution and some of the other tips I've received here. Revolution is rather unpolished at the moment and basics often preempt my selected thresholds, or do not fire (it uses autoattacks instead). I'm guessing Backhand/Kick are the most damaging basic abilities (on stun-immune enemies) and should be used as much as possible.
