Combat level update? 138 vs 200? -- newest news?

I am wondering what the newest news is on the 200 vs 138 controversy. Last I knew 138 won a majority of the player vote over 200. That was a couple months ago and I haven't been on too consistently and haven't seen anything on the promised follow up pole or heard any follow up information from jagex. 

 

So whats the newest news on what jagex is doing?

 

P.S.- I am very strongly in favor of the 138 combat level calculator.

138 is coming back. They slightly altered the calculation (otherwise it would be horrific for measuring players) and released the formula on the beta servers. If you want to see your combat level just log into the beta server. 

 

They said the ETA for main game implementation is the summer, probably late summer. Though with Jagex you never know...

^Fairly sure in the legcay mode update they kinda said the exact opposite - namely that the current stuff on beta servers (eg cmb formula) will be released when legacy comes to beta.

Str+atk = mage. That dumb isnt it. Dumb. Im disappointed.

Considering magic should be as strong as range which should be as strong as melee, it isn't. Why should melee be more valuable despite being only one 'class'?

Yeah and its not str+att=mage

 

It's str+att = 2*mage = 2*range

Therefore each corner of the combat triangle is evaluated out of 198, the only difference being as melee has 2 skills 198 is achieved from the sum of the two, whereas the singular skills derive 198 from being doubled.

99 att and 99 str = 198

99 mage or range *2 = 198

To be honest, it's probably the exact same combat formula as it used to be, but Jagex will probably say "it's been improved" when in fact, it hasn't.

Until they release the official formula, I'll stick to what I think.

The highest out of (Str+Att) (Mage*2) or (Range*2) is used, so basically the same as the current formula.

 

Time to start making an attack pure... 90 attack 55 strength will be fun...
