I don't like that Chris hinted towards "needing" HTML5 for part of the fight. But idk. Anyways new boss is always awesome. Guess this is the t90 mage weapon dropping boss so good to hopefully get that sorted then!

And least I know I'll have max cape for at least a week now.

Reacting impulsively and saying what's on your mind feels oh so good.. for a little, until you realize you just started WWIII.

HTML5 will never be needed for anything in the game. HTML5 will just allow you a further draw distance and with that not even for NPC's, but only the landscape.

The "HTML5" thing is just being able to see the boss zoomed out in full glory, I believe... That was the impression I got (that the boss would look best that way)

Tbf their 'thanks to html5' things need to be taken with a pinch of salt.

They say 'html 5' when they really mean 'the newly recoded game engine whose big selling point is the html 5 mode but also adds new functionality to the game regardless of html5 or java run'

I'm pretty sure they said somewhere that they are going to change the npc render distance with the draw distance in the final version..

If not, that is just a stupid decision that will impact the game horribly.

Somewhat interesting. I will enjoy seeing how they manage the "story tree" concept of splitting off fundamentally differently for each player as they make choices.. That is usually difficult to manage yet still give realism to the player choices.

I'm am very pleased to here they are driving forward the idea that quest choices will fundamentally alter your world.

Let's just hope they do it RIGHT.

As in any resource uncovered, relocated etc. has an equal for ALL outcomes.

Eg say a quest could go to any one of the 8 factions and the rewards included a mine with a concentrated rune rock, but not the same mine.

All of the mines should be equal distance from equal transport methods.

Otherwise we are just going to get a 'best' path for quests.

Would also be cool if the playing of quests got some fundamental difference.

I always liked the idea of having say a fortress to infiltrate that has loads of things dotted around that you can interact with differently subject to skills to create a unique path.

Eg maybe a wall a skilled mage can teleport past, a sleeping guard a skilled thief could pickpocket, a high window an agile player could clamber in to, a cooking pot a herblorist could poison to kill the guards, materials to craft a disguise etc. And all those options are just to get past the 1 wall/gate.

Sort of akin to how in games like Dishonoured of Assassins Creed you have options in how to approach things.

the whole thing about the elder gods reawakening at some point, maybe we shouldn't be too evil?...i feel like that might have some sort of consequence down the road

Consequences like giving you awesome spells or prayers.

Sort of akin to how in games like Dishonoured of Assassins Creed you have options in how to approach things.

Having played most Assassin's Creed games, the only options i've ever seen were:

  1. Play like the level tells you

  2. Run in and kill his ass

Sure, you could screw around with the poisoning, or throwing change on the ground, but it always seemed like more trouble than it was worth. As for Runescape, I'm expecting the usual "we painted the statue green/red/blue to show your affiliation with Guthix/Zamorak/Saradomin!"

From the empty days of hope, deny the darkness
Follow my voice, we'll run far away from here

If only to hide, to escape this life
And live forever, forever in the sun

^Well with AC being an assassin the ultimate end is a given, but there are a lot of options on how to do it built in to the environment and your equipment in many levels. Zip wires, drop kills, hidden blades, swords, poison, guns, trip mines, bombs, smoke bombs

Ac is an example at the basic level: Multiple ways to achieve the same act.

Dishonoured is the higher level: Multiple ways to achieve a goal through differing acts.

I couldn't pay attention to anything in that video except for the giant sore on Mod Osbourne's face, absolutely disgusting. They should have had someone else fill his roll or at least tried to cover it up.

You make it sound like running through a few level 87 monsters is hard which it really shouldn't be at your level.

All this hype about 6th age quests and yet how many quests have we had in runescape this year or even last year?

What used to be the strength of game was shoveled under the rug for the WOWscape experience (big bosses, big graphics, big lootshop).

I'm definitely getting less for my $5/month in runescape and I can point right to that.

They've already explained that they have put almost all of their quest resources onto the task of creating the first few (four, possibly now five) 6th Age quests, other than the upcoming Pig Quest and Dwarf Quest. All of the quests that have been worked on in the past 8 months (sans TWW) can only be released Post-RS3. They aren't going to ruin it by releasing them beforehand. The lack of quests is only signalling that a ridiculous amount will be coming in a short time span.

The quests are so numerous that they are refusing to talk about Divination at all until they are released, as to let the hype center on them.

For now, we have lots of non-quest content to have fun with. With the exception of this month's RS3 lull, we certainly haven't been getting less for our money. (Less for your money possibly, if you like quests the most, but not for the average player who also appreciates other content)

So it seems like the ability to change the world is based on whatever god you follow? Hope that means they;ll make it so that when you change gods the world changes with you?

Also with the hype about elder gods i'm gonna place even odds that vorago is linked some way to jas? Part of his body thats awakened or where we teleported the stone to make him alive?

Me behave? Seriously? As a child I saw Tarzan almost naked, Cinderella arrived home from a party after midnight, Pinocchio told lies, Aladin was a thief, Batman drove over 200 miles an hour, Snow White lived in a house with seven men, Popeye smoked a pipe and had tattoos, Pac man ran around to digital music while eating pills that enhanced his performance, and Shaggy and Scooby were mystery solving hippies who always had the munchies. The fault is not mine! if you had this childhood and loved it put this in your signature!

The way it'll always be in runescape;

find the most efficient way to do it, gain xp/loot

end.

I guess I should actually go and side with one of the gods now..

Yeah, right?

To be completely honest with everyone;

I've barely paid attention to any of this god stuff.

Who the [bleep] is Sliske?

These super-gods who created the universe; why would they create lesser gods

Why do we need to focus on them now and not before? (If this is answered by "Divination" ignore this lol.)

and a whole lot of other things I can't even think of

I'm also slightly happy they haven't been releasing tons of quests. It's been giving me time to CATCH UP. I'm at like 206 quest points, and I still have all the meaty, gritty quests left like RFD, rotM, etc. I don't even have all the requirements for those quests either.

Sliske is a mahjaratt, the guy who made the barrows brothers.

Elder Gods did NOT create gods, not intentionally anyway. As the current lore stands mortals become gods by either killing another god or spending a longtime around an Elder Artefact.

The Artefacts are tools the Elder Gods used to shape worlds and then just left lying around. As it stands there are confirmed to be 12 artefacts. The Stone of Jas, The Elder Kiln, The Sword of Skargaroth, The Staff of Armadyl, Saradomin's Crown and an as-yet undiscovered Horn that is on Gielinor (many suspect the Frostenhorn) are the confirmed artefacts.

We need to focus on it now because the 5th age ended with Guthix being killed which caused the Guthix's Edicts to fall. The Guthix's Edicts was essentially a magical shield that forcefully kept the Gods out of Runescape. With him dead the shield is gone and the gods are returning. Saradomin has already landed, Seren is here as crystal shards, Tumeken is here sleeping. Aramdyl, Bandos, Zaros, Zamorak and more are all confirmed to be enroute back soon to appear. We have to face them and deal with them and that is why the gods matter now.

There is a youtuber called "TheCompleteRS" or something who has a pretty cool lore series going right now. I only watched the first couple of episodes because they are like 15mins long each but if you're actually interested then you should check it out.
