I never said I think it should be best in the game. I simply stated that t90 tank armour from barrows would be another nail in the coffin of its usefulness, which is simply a statement of fact. Shockingly the release of the next tier up in anything adds a nail in the coffin of the tier below's usefulness.

which is a good thing. Tier 85 armor should be for 85-90 defense players, not maxed players.

and I agree that ports isn't high level content. Now a days 90 in a skill is easy. I do think the requirements need to be lowered to 85 to be consistent with the armor tier however.

DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers rings

QBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow parts

CR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size.
...
It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

Tell me I'm not the only one who's sick of all of this "high level" content.

You're not the only one, it's very annoying to see so much level 90 crap when we really need level 95 and 99 sets of equipment, not to mention end-game content for a bunch of skills :(.

I really hope that Ports will be semi-useful in the true end-game, because it's a pretty unique way of gathering resources that deserves a spot in the 95 and 99 tiers.

I wonder if they are sort of working through the skills on a 1 block at a time basis.

Chasing up EoC with filling out the gaps and missing final tiers of combat gear, coupled with odd overlaps in to other skills; before moving wholesale on to another skill.

Though saying that we have had other supposed high-end fill outs of skills with varying degrees of success. Eg New trees, pretty decent for wc level wise and technically good for fletching, though perpetuating the issue of stupidly high make reqs for rather low levelled gear so limited lifespan of being all that good there aside from an xp cow for the gp laden. Then we have the other train wrecks...like all them useful high-end farming plants that next to no-one grows as they are utterly useless (even in a world where warbands don't exist they aren't any good really).

We do have that supposed construction rework on the near horizon too. I wish they'd focus on a gatherer/artisan rework and address the level vs use flaws and oversaturated resource from drops in mine smith wc fletch and craft to an extent. Plus it'd give ample opportunity to implement the fairly popular idea of ousting mage armour atleast from crafting in favour of a craft:range, smith:melee, rc:mage arrangment.

In many ways I would not mind at all if Jagex changed their focus from new content, giving us say maybe 1 major update or a few minor updates of new stuff a month whilst filling the rest of the weeks with rework/refresh stuff. It'd still take time but focussing the dev budgets on reworks we could perhaps finally get all of Gielinor up to the same rough standard graphically and gameplay wise across general graphics, quests, minigames and skills. I mean sure I can see why they give the things new players see priority in such refreshes, but it certainly does not look good when that new player goes further afield and finds places/quests/games that are soooooo many years behind graphically and gameplay-wise even though other areas are on the 5th or 6th facelift.

I mean heck there's only 13 f2p quests left that haven't been madeover/are not quite new and even then some of them could probably get away without a remake (bloodpact etc) so could we not have a concentrated effort and clear them and then move on to focussing on members quests. Land-wise you've more than done all the f2p areas really, falador is in the works again could we perhaps now get some attention on places beyond white wolf mountain?

Mini-games just pick one and start there, most of them are horribly broken since the eoc.

While I do agree, I think it's better that they're filling the tiers in from low to high and not just releasing level 99 armor while there isn't anything to fill the gap between 80/85 and 99.

They're obviously working their way to 99, so I don't mind how they're filling it in.

Seems like we are getting quite a few new cool features at the last part of this year. Myself I look the most forward to the barrows rework. I imagine that these new armours will be quite a good money-maker, even if they are just 'tank' armours.

The Lumbridge rebuilding and the new slayer creature seems very interesting as well. I bet that the new slayer creature will also bring with it new lore (Guthix and Tuska info).

I'm betting the mask pieces are used with the black mask to create a high level version of a slayer mask or to create a high leveled version of a full slayer helm. Oh and watch... I bet the cave horrors are some of the precursor beasts that follow tuska. Deeper in their dungeon probably lives stronger followers. The black obsidian obelisks are probably part of her method to escape and rampage across the planes.

I honestly hope the new slayer drop is something actually persistent instead of XP XP XP

Seeing the formulation in the newsletter I think that you are hoping for too much sadly. Jagex has recently tended to do just what is described in the BTS for their updates and not more of what you could many times have hoped for. So if it says it is good for xp, then it will only be good for xp. Nothing wrong with that in my opinion though :p.

I doubt it.

Tuska has never been to Gielinor, as confirmed by Jmods so why would any of her precursor creatures already be here and how would they have arrived during the Edicts when Gielinor was all shut off.

I also doubt any sort of specialised obelisk or construct relates to Tuska, she is a mindless animal that gained godhood, not a sentient being. She doesn't have smart ways to build things to do stuff she just rampages between worlds.

Also, hey Jagex, there's other skills besides combat that could do with some stuff. Woodcutting finally got one, mining's overdue, waiting on soul runes still, crafting and smithing could do with some uniques at 80+ minus adamant/runite, Divination has plenty of holes to fill (though it is still somewhat new)

I mean, I'm only 99 defence, and I'd love to own a t99 armor for the sake of going "awwwwe yeaaaah!", but i'm not flipping shit due to the lack of 90/99 melee armor. I'm still content w/bandos (and degradable tetsu since I cant pop it, which by the way, 90+ in 2 skills ISN'T low level, hedge, you clown)

I think the pre-EoC power level of level 70 melee items was good, e.g. whip/ddef, barrows armour. But I don't think it's good that there is nothing at all at levels past 70, so there should be some upgrades. Not necessarily huge upgrades like chaotics, but some nice things anyway.

Edit: did he seriously write 'fairwell'? What happened to ye olde 'farewell'?

Mod Chris L is designing it so it'll be good combat-wise...let's just hope Mod Timbo isn't balancing it since his balancing assignments always seem to the be the ones with stupidly rubbish drop rates/drops/xp rates.

The cave horrors and black oblisks being pre-cursors means she may have been halted by the edicts just before entering. Also you are right that she is a mindless powerful beast, but that energy she carries will probably manifest itself somehow especially when traveling I would think.

Which is why I keep pushing for higher tier items to be more accessible (or at least, not blatantly and intentionally inaccessible): it gives them an excuse to upgrade everything else.
