Stigma with Sexual Orientations and Identities

I believe jagex should be able to open the world of runescape to the gay gender like myself, both males and females should be able to come together and play openly and freely.

In a recent post of mine (http://forum.tip.it/topic/326192-kingdom-of-miscellania-rework/) i stated that a quest should get a re-work and in that quest we should be able to marry same gender, more because i wanted to be able to marry the prince as my charecter is a male in game.

This would open up more so though, not just a rework for that quest and also blood runs deep and opening worlds for players to be able to login to and play with no worries of being abused but at home with our fellow gay people.

Also we have events come up like the queens jubilie and things why not have a gay pride day on runescape as well? even though the game is set in a medieval parallel world really, we still go tto take part in something that was happening here and now, which was the queens jubilie, so why not allow in gay pride.

Give all us fellow gays a chance to feel at home in game as well.

Making this game equal for all.

What I am also thinking of, is for one day every gay man and woman could meet at the g.e and every man comes in pink wizard robes (I dragon keepsaked mine so my armour is usually on overide showing my beautiful robes) and every woman could wear a blue wizard robe set, to show how serious we are about are gay rights.

And I believe that a world where gay people can mingle together wouldnt be too much to ask for, they have opened vip worlds or we could choose our own world, like 23 (My main hangout) or use an american server as well, where people will soon come to learn that its a gay world.

I dont think its much to ask but if jagex wont supply us with assistance into equality then we should take into our own hands and show off our robes and take a world for our own.

no one seems to understand that you are born gay, i was born gay, i have always liked boys and i like hanging around girls and having them as friends, i have been in love with a very lovely man, i am saying this because people do understand sometimes, love is a strong thing and i have felt it, now i have lost him but i want to find it again one day, maybe even through runescape, i would love a gaming lifelong partner to be honest, who wouldnt love to come home to someone who plays runescape as well hehe.

so all my fellow guys and girls, please come forward and lets make this real.

please give any thoughts/suggegestions on what world you would like this to be on, what you would like to add.

if we start showing ourselves more and more then jagex will be more open to making the game revolve around everyone more we hope.

There's so many things wrong with this post that I can't help but think it's a troll.

1. Asking all gay male players to wear pink and female to wear blue is already a huge stereotype in itself. Not all gay people like to associate themselves with connotations.

2. Why are you advocating self-imposed segregation? If I were gay, the last thing I'd want to do is play on a world populated only by gay people. Not only is it backward-thinking, it's also hypocritical. If a straight person were to ask for heterosexual only worlds, the gay community would go apeshit.

3. You insult people by assuming they're all ignorant homophobes. Every person with more than a single brain cell knows that being gay isn't a choice. Don't act like they don't.

asking them to wear these colours is to show that we are proud of our real selves, its like wearing a rainbow wrist band in real life, there is no way to show it off in game, i think this would be a fabulous way to show it off.

i am not trying to be stereotypical, just providing a way to give players a way to express themselves, this would be at a meet up, like having a gay pride in runescape.

i am also not insulting anyone, there is already enough hetrosexuality going on in the game, men come over as big heavy armour and girls the armour is fixed to work with them, giving them a pretty type of look, making the armour fix to their body showing off the curves.

what i am going for here is a standard type of armour or something like the wizard robes which works well to show people that this is who we are at meet ups or events.

and i do not troll, i am deadly serious about this and would love for it to be in the game, seems i am not going to be taken seriously.

RuneScape is a MMORPG, you can roleplay and marry whoever you like in game provided they are another player and are happy to play along.

You can't marry the prince in the Kingdom of Miscellanea quest series because he's not gay, and besides it was a marriage of convenience not of love. Perhaps you'll have more luck with Brian O'Richard? Or for a more realistic suggestion try world 42.

Honestly, you can't accommodate every minority so trying to certain wedge social justice issues into the game is itself discriminatory because you have to pick and chose which ones to include. If you feel this strongly about creating a homosexual community within the game, then create one. There are tons of tools for you such as clans, team capes, and even your robes idea. There are thriving minicommunities within the game already, based on things like nationality and religious beliefs. If they can make it work, surely you can as well.

Just wanted to say i have posted this also on another forum and so far it has not been ridiculed in anyway and seems to be taken seriously which makes me wonder if this site is against people like myself.

This site has *NOTHING* against the gay community. There are several openly gay active members who post frequently here, and I have not once seen them ridiculed or discriminated against.

The thing is, you are suggesting that we bring in a huge controversial topic into a game which it doesn't need to be in. I know that if Jagex started holding gay rights promotions that people would quit the game because of it. However, I highly doubt that anyone would start playing because of it. It isn't a smart move for Jagex. If you want to host a gay parade where everyone wears pink and blue, then go ahead. Nobody is stopping you.

EDIT:

LMAO with that link to RuneHQ, literally 1 (count them... 1) person has posted anything on your topic.....

“I had a feeling we weren’t coming back from this fight when it began.”

“Do you have any regrets?”

“I don’t. It seems surprising, I know, but I wouldn’t change a thing. This is how it was meant to be.”

“Huh, you never really notice how lovely the day is until you realize you’ll never see it again.”

“Mmmhmm.”

One reply is hardly a good sample size.

I can't speak for the rest of the TIF community but I have nothing against you as a person, but rather with your idea that anyone who doesn't include homosexual themes is instantly anti-gay. Jagex hasn't included Canada day into the game, does that make them anti-Canadian? No. It just means that Canadians are too small a minority to pander to our every request. You just have to accept that the makers of this game can't include every group in every way.

As a gay man... no. I see where you're trying to go with this, but I think it's completely unnecessary. The quest tweaks would be nice, but they aren't needed, and the other things you suggest, I am absolutely not interested in.

If I want to go to Pride, I'll go to Pride, not play Runescape.

I don't know why this is causing such a shitstorm on both ends. I'm gay myself and I couldn't care less about equality in Runescape. The game is set in a medieval time era, back then if you were gay, you got the death penalty. I'd rather Runescape stick to the historical(-ish) era that it tries to represent rather then enforce people to oblige one's way of freedom.

It's like this, I'm all for equality. But what I don't like is people forcing you to accept it. It's as bad as Jehovah's Witness' door knockers, and I live in a rather flamboyant lifestyle myself.

I just think it would be a fun event and the quest being updated would be good and back then yes you would get the death penalty but this game is styled around a vast modern and old time style, they merge the two together a lot so why not with this?

even though you would get that penalty back then it still happened a hell of a lot, people like me wasnt born over night or in the last 20 years we was born like it since the dawn of time we have always been there and started getting accepted more in the last couple of decades just would be nice to put that into rs

There are not much modern stuff in RS at all. Pretty much everything that currently exists would be older than 1700s.

well i have decided to join that are accepting to the gay community and the leader is brilliant i am glad that someone pm'd me on here telling me about the clan, i wont say who they are through fear of them being shunned or rejected like i seem to have been by the community on here, luckily one person managed to speak up but had to hide in pm to avoid being ridiculed by the people on here, sadly i dont think people are ready for us gays yet in rs but luckily this clan is highly accepting, i just hope that one day the people here can finally accept this is life and not have to be against who we are :(

I don't think the community of Runescape or Tip.It, or the game itself, are not accepting of non-heterosexual or non-binary-gendered individuals. I think you're trying to fix something that isn't broken here, and people are responding as they are not because they aren't accepting of your sexuality, but because they recognize this is something which doesn't need to be fixed. I hope you can realize that not agreeing with your proposed changes to the game is not the same as being intolerant or bigoted when it comes to the broader subjects of sexuality and gender identification.

I am glad to hear you've found a group you feel comfortable with!

Jagex doesnt have anything against it but this does not mean you should expect them to cater towards such a lifestyle. What if PETA people threw a fit about killing cows, vegetarians didnt wanna complete cooks assistant etc.

The more you post, the more sure I become that you just joined to troll. Ignoring the numerous openly gay members of Tip.It, several of which have posted in this thread, and claiming an anonymous person had to hide their post because they were being harassed by people on this forum? I don't believe you are genuine at all, and your presence here is to stir the pot and since you see that it is obviously not working, you're just throwing everything you can to try and rile people up, calling this community homophobic and claiming that you're being rejected because you're gay and we're homphobes. You're about as authentic as Daffyd from Little Britain.

why would i troll about something i believe in? something i wanted and thought other people wanted, if you believe i am not genuine and use a charecter from a tv show which really is just an abuse on gay people, daffyd was just a sterotype of what people find gays to be, making them into a mockery, the fact you have even used that as an example looks to me as though you have no respect for the gay community.

i posted the last thread as a belief, i feel that marriage in rs in them quests could be added to give equality.

i also feel a gay pride style of event could be good in rs and the wearing of the robes would just be good, like a gathering for people and making a fun event.

i am not here to make an argument i am here to bring a little bit of fun and get people who are gay to come together for a brilliant people event outside of jagex and in the hope that jagex will see that there are a lot of people who are gay who would love them to bring these types of events over every now and again, not an everyday occurance dont want to be all in the faces of people saying we are here we are queer, just trying to say there are gay people about, so that even the kids learn to accept it for future as well.

same with anything, race included as well everyone should be accepted, i would love it if rs was equal to all.
