Overall, don't worry about it, as long as you're legit in your gaming. :D

Nah, I think he just got one of those phishing emails and wasn't completely sure about it/was curious about it in general.

From what I can tell:

If Jagex do detect a high value trade, it'll be flagged and the accounts automatically checked for interactions with known RWTers, if it looks like a hacking of some kind for a major amount of money it could be manually monitored real time, and from there any accounts that do interact with the hacked/RWTed items will also get flagged etc. Basically a chain from one trade, if it fizzles out I'd assume nothing happens, but the more dodgy accounts it relates to, the higher chance of someone stepping in an investigating it.

Realistically there is no real way to guess such percentages, but especially with the advent of Jagex selling bonds, I would strongly suggest that "your friend" just use those instead next time they want to buy gold.

I think the ultimate question is why risk it? Sure, you'll pay more per mill then buying it from a website that's really shady but, why would you not want to pay a few cents more per mil and know that you won't lose your account that you spent (potentially) years working on? The risk is far too great in my opinion.

wouldnt a clever way to RWT be to hold rigged in-game competitions, where the "winner" wins X-amount of gold (paid for beforehand) ?

The transaction would be prolonged of course. But what does that mean, if it keeps your account safe :)

I'm pretty sure that's already been done lol

Plenty of "giveaways" or "quiz games" or other stuff like that have been done in major trade worlds where it was mysteriously always the same person winning, or "spam trade me and someone gets X item at random", except it's always the same person who gets picked

I saw a lot of that before dicing/gambling was banned. Their main intention seemed to be gather a crowd, lead them somewhere, do the fake trivia/drop party, and then tell them to join X fc and leave the area to do the next one, hoping that the people there would join it out of boredom or desperation I guess.

I logged into rs3 for the first time today and some guy at hte GE just gave me 1 mil for no reason. This game got weird

Nothing weird. While farming Ascension I've seen a lot of people with some lower d'hides + rune cbows, I take my time to go and get them some gear for 1m and give it for free.

If you make 3-4m per hour 1m is not so much.
