Raids - The Liberation of Mazcab (13/07/2015 Update)

Recommended Posts

Getting comp back is going to be such a PITA with this hard cap and so few teams heading it up. I think boss encounters that usually require over 5 players should be classed as a trim pvm requirement. If raids progress in difficulty runescape will inevitably bring us 15-25 man raids. This might not happen until the system can smoothly run with that many players interacting though.

In the past I would've of agreed but since we have jumped the shark on that I think now a more appropriate move would be the consideration of the need for a grace period in relation to the difficulty the boss will pose.

Heck I'm sure they could even code a grace period as a product of numbers - ie when x % of players who had comp meet the new req then all others lose the cape.

Would probably work best in terms of fairness if done like that too - wouldn't be instantly lost for everyone in the face of new content that is going to take significant time for the masses to be able to get through BUT at the same time you would face losing out once enough had beaten it to signify that the content has been worked out and is doable for the 'normal' player and therefore it was your inaction or lack of skill that merits the lose of the cape.

But then I'm sure even the concept of a grace period will have the 'your whining' 'your not entitled to it' etc crowd fuming at the bit because heaven forbid it being a reasonable notion to not lock the entire player base out of ownership of the cape for an extended period due to the addition of content that is fully intend to take several days for even the elite players to manage to best, let alone the run of the mill guys.

Honestly if they just added ava's alterter function to the max cape I wouldn't give half a damn about getting the comp cape back asap.

The real issue is the 2 day limit.

I'll look into it tomorrow when the good people are available again. No point dying along with all the other noobs.

I think a lot of the "good" people are still doing kills as they are trying to get experience and/or get FB back.

“I had a feeling we weren’t coming back from this fight when it began.”

“Do you have any regrets?”

“I don’t. It seems surprising, I know, but I wouldn’t change a thing. This is how it was meant to be.”

“Huh, you never really notice how lovely the day is until you realize you’ll never see it again.”

“Mmmhmm.”

I decided a few weeks ago not to do that new crappy quest so that I could get used to the fact that I wouldn't have comp for a while.

I'd certainly agree to a grace period... but then after achieving Comp I reverted into a filthy casual so what do I know :P

If it were up to me I'd have the Comp remain wearable even after new reqs have been released, but have it assume some dull/non-customizeable/otherwise undesirable appearance, and unable to gain any new stats/abilities until fully re-unlocked again.

... I mean just sayin with all the shit one already has to do to even achieve Comp for the first time these days, I think they've earned a permanent BIS cape item... :|

Also, this is neither here nor there, but if you decide/think you really cannot do high level PvM (in order to re-Comp) then just leech lol. If you wait long enough, enough teams will have enough experience so that there is a high volume of raids leech groups that are also constantly gaining more experience in order to compete against one another - reducing the price to leech to something that should be affordable to anyone who has Comped to begin with.

In other words, it's quite a bit like, say, paying 200k or w/e to auto-complete that slider puzzle in Monkey Madness - just scaled up quite a bit for the endgame. ;)

More like a broken staircase.

Because spirit shields soak a fixed amount of damage, they out class EVERYTHING. They aren't in between dfs, dg shields, and rot6 shields, they are so far higher up that everything else is worse

And that comes at the cost of massive prayer drain.
Doesn't change the fact that they outclass everything.
So you think that there is no ratio of prayer point-hp conversion would justify it's effect?

If a singe dose is super restore is effectivly 2k health (12k in 1 flask), while the next best healing is a super brew flask at 7800 hp, yes.

The thing that really grinds my gears is that Jagex is now encouraging leeching for endgame pvm content.  When we started selling leeches in early 2014 we experienced a huge amount of blowback and friction.  My entire team was actually manually muted at one point for encouraging breaking rules.  Chris L even modified rots to make it more difficult to leech.  Now jmods are saying "lol if you don't like it just leech."  Unbelievable.

Once again, we sit here and discuss the use/waste of resources and time all over one damn cape.

They did make Yakamaru harder to leech though, you actually need to get to the Mirage Phase for the other music track for cape lol :P

Once again we have to sit here and read whiny attacking remarks that bring nothing to any discussion in the thread because you aren't interested in comp cape. It'd be really nice if you could be less interested still and just ignore the lines of discussion that don't interest you and instead only post if you have something to contribute to the thread.

Because guess what? Some of us are interested in comp cape and when an update makes a significant differences to that cape we are going to discuss it in the thread about that update. You're not being forced to read our posts, see they are about comp and move on. Simple. No need to bring rudeness or spammy posts that add nothing to the thread in just because you don't like our discussion.

Some of us are tired about hearing people only talk about your particle cape, how the update affects your little cape, and why this update should solely revolve on the cape holders and decisions should be made exclusively based on them.

Every. Damn. Update.

Yes, I'm so sorry I was unable to contain my revulsion at another update thread being steered into a Comp Cape discussion.

Can we not make a sticky thread for the Cape and every update you can talk about it there? Please?

Would using the poison from the Mini Quest be worth using on the Airuts in the arena with Durzag? Speed up killing them? Just an idea

Does it work on them? If so then possibly, although main issue is that the poison isn't bankable so you'd need to keep it in your inventory for as long as you planned on raiding

My point was the topic always ends up being about the Comp Cape and how it affects its owners. It is so tiring.

Isn't CC the endgame for a decent amount of the player base? Being essentially the best cape in the game along with the array of niche effects that it does come with, why is it an issue to discuss it? I personally owned one, and I'm not particularly happy with another 'forced group' req. It's very rare that the positive side of any update gets discussed anyway so everyone will end up focussing on the negative which at the very least once a month is the CC.

With regards to the Raid's themselves, I personally would of liked to have seen a scaling boss fight with a very low drop rate, more people increasing the difficulty and in turn increasing chance of rare drops. This may have saved a lot of the complaints I struggle to find these groups of people where I can trust them enough to get through a boss fight.

Also the Goebie world is rather interesting and looking forward to 'rebuilding' the world, and is the PvP minigame worth doing?

I think it would've been great to have set raids in the Eastern Lands. You could've workednon the rebuilding of the islands and defeating the monsters left over after the overthrow of Quinn.

Only tricky thing might've been how to set Ports and it's storyline in the past, but since when has making sense ever mattered to Jagex? :p

Why not require the completion of Ports before allowing access to Eastern Lands?

But if a monster hits you too hard they break your protection prayers as well. It also means that you have something extra to keep an eye out for. If they hit you too hard you'd have to restore pray and then heal, but then since you can't double pot, you can only choose something like food as the alternative.
