Disease ticks

Whether or not you pay the farmer to take care of your plants, they may suffer a disease tick which makes them take longer to grow. That is a correct statement.

However, when the only patches that do not update or have not updated 24 hours after you planted them are the fruit tree patches with the exception of the Tree Gnome Stronghold patch that is a bug. You should file a bug report. When that happens over and over again exactly the same way, that is a highly annoying bug.

So if you take the old grow times as a guideline, that means that the disease ticks happened over every single tick for at about 10 hours and only on the tree patches other than the Tree Gnome Stronghold one which never seems to have them and is always full grown the next day if I replanted it the day before.

May all fan boys/girls die when Runescape does since they can't seem to live without it.

Now Goodbye and Good riddance.

If you're logging out and in constantly you're resetting the growth timers of your trees.

Each fruit tree has I think 6 growth ticks in its lifetime, and the growth tick occurs every 160 minutes. When offline, farming patches calculate the amount of time you've spent offline and when you log back in increment it to the growth stages. You need to be offline for a full 160 minutes before the patch calculates the addition of 1 growth stage to your fruit tree. This means that if you log out of the game and back in before 160 minutes have passed, you'll waste one growth stage entirely and have to start from scratch.

The exception to this is the tree gnome fruit tree patch (and some others) which are slightly more forgiving. When calculating offline time, these patches round up the time spent if you've gotten through at least half a growth stage. So if you're offline for 90 minutes, then come back, only your tree gnome fruit tree patch will gain a growth stage, and the rest won't.

In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.

I agree that with the advances in the game and how Flinstone-ian that old tick cycle is it can be updated and changed. You could shorten the tick length and increase the amount in a cycle.

They could for real improve the mechanics of that skill, but that requires core engine work which isn't very sexy as far as updates to announce. Everyone wants a new boss.

I think a more interesting discussion is could Runescape survive an entire year of no new content to retrench and fundamentally fix the game. Would it be worth it to reinvent the game a bit. I certainly don't think their current model is good for the long term health of the game.

Back after a 5 year TIF hiatus. Please don't mind me too much.

I am going to quit after my year is up. Screw this game and all of you that play it.

Feel free to stop posting here since you hate the game and all of us.

Probably not. The current model isn't healthy

I'm confused about what you are asking us to discuss. I've read through your other two threads (http://forum.tip.it/topic/330181-will-it-ever-get-fixed/ and http://forum.tip.it/topic/330181-will-it-ever-get-fixed/) and understand the context behind starting this thread and the frustrations you've been having.

I saw a lot of anger in the first thread, and quite frankly the statement

May all fan boys/girls die when Runescape does since they can't seem to live without it.

is still excessively angry in my mind. It's perfectly acceptable to be angry, but it is not acceptable to wish for the death of others. I have no authority on this board, but I'd like to ask you to kindly refrain from this harmful writing.

On to the topic at hand, the original post contained the following statements.

These seem to be mostly factual statements of what happens in this game, and then there is an opinion that something is a bug and that we (the forum readers) should file a bug report. I don't see any actual discussion content though. Are you asking for our opinions on whether this is a bug? Are you asking for explanations of the above statements? Are you just ranting (its fine if you are, although there is a dedicated forum for that)? Are you here to insult people (please refer to quotation #1 above)?

I really am curious. What is the discussion that you are looking to take place in this thread?

Thank you,

~money

I'd ask that you refrain from wishing death on others...nothing in a game is important enough to get so worked up over it.  Maybe it's best you take a break and work on your real life as you clearly have issues outside of RuneScape that make you so hateful and vindictive.  Prayers.

Glitches are to be expected in such a large game that's done completely in Java code.  If you knew anything about coding you'd realize this.  RuneScape is meant for entertainment and shouldn't consume one's life to the point they lash out in hatred of others who don't completely agree with their stance and kiss the very ground they walk on.  Prayers.

Better I suppose than the perpetual moment of silence that hangs about this board too often these days.
