Sentry_Wolf 9 Posted October 24, 2018 Hello from an old member who doesn't really do anything much with RuneScape these days. Its really sad the forums are dying, but like many said - its just what happens and how the community changes. Regardless, I credit a lot to TIF. It sounds bullshitty, but getting to work and play alongside people to build the community through general means of just playing the game, organising events with TET or doing crew work, it gave me a lot skill-wise in order to deal with people as someone who considers themselves an introvert. It sparked the interest to get involved with tech as a career as a programmer, doubt it would of turned out the same without the influence the game and this community had on me. Long live the memories!

obfuscator 1005 Posted October 25, 2018 I must have missed most of the drama from 2 years ago, so I was reading it now, and thought "oh great a nice opportunity to make a joke post about how I'm corrupt and caused the forums to die" only to keep reading and see that I had already made that post two years ago people change with time, but I guess I haven't lol 3 "It's not a rest for me, it's a rest for the weights." - Dom Mazzetti

Blaze The Movie Fan 163 Posted October 28, 2018 I still don't see how wikis and site like reddit serve as a replacement for message boards. I mean it's nearly impossible to make long detailed posts on sites like that and being able to navigate those posts easily. So how can that replace message boards? I can tell you for a fact that I find it hard to find replies on Facebook statuses, not to mention it's uncomfortable. On message boards it's not. So the fact that the site is incredibly inactive now is something I had a hard time believing when I first discovered this site's inactivity and guess what? I still have an extremely hard time believing that. I mean I can totally buy the MAIN site being inactive, considering that information is updated daily on a wiki, but the message board, I don't. The Observer 62 Posted October 29, 2018 Reddit has started to grow on me lately. It's a shame really.
Yoko Kurama 801 Posted October 29, 2018 Reddit is a lot more fast paced, ephemeral (most threads basically die after a few days, and are lost by the 1000 thread limit), and has strong elements of 'popularity contest', and the large number of people present in more popular subs prevent the formation of a close knit community. It certainly has disadvantages when compared to traditional forums.

Robert_R 40 Posted November 1, 2018 Wow I came to check this site out after starting over on OSRS last weekend after like a 5 year break. Thought it would have slowed down but I'm surprised to see it this dead.

GrandZephyr 2 Posted November 11, 2018 Curious how many people we will get back now with RS Mobile released. Mobile got me back, but into OSRS. Wish I was in the RS3 mobile beta. I saw things like the signatures and GE interface broken, and I shot a flair over to @Arceus. @MageUK's pending.me.uk is broken, too. The protector in me wants to do break-fix. I think I'll begin poking people until they 1) respond, 2) tell me to go away, 3) make me go away :shades:
Ginger_Warrior 689 Posted November 12, 2018 Curious how many people we will get back now with RS Mobile released. Oh hai. In a strange turn of events, I came back to Tip.It for the bestiary which I worked on as a Crewbie over ten years ago. But to be honest, Leik is bang on the money--the medium of forums has been largely replaced by Reddit, fandom wikis and Facebook groups. That being said, the player numbers for OSRS on mobile are very impressive. | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |
RpgGamer 1088 Posted November 14, 2018 I'm enjoying OsRS mobile, but the worlds all feel empty to me, even in the cow fields. Maybe nostalgia has rose tinted glasses but I remember struggling to chat with people because there was so much text noise in some areas. That is just not the case on mobile. Also the chat interface is difficult to use on mobile, so there's that Quote Quote Anyone who likes tacos is incapable of logic. Anyone who likes logic is incapable of tacos. essiw 143 Posted November 16, 2018 I am back too, due to mobile and because I am finally getting a new computer (mine had become to slow for rs3...). But honestly if we want this forum to be alive we should just merge all of the inactive sub-forums into one so that it appears more alive, then people might come back and we can build it again from there. Leaving it like it is now makes it look like a ghost-town. Who would want to live in a huge town where only one street is active? I would not. But I would like to live in a small village, even if it is the size of only a few streets, if it is active. 1 Retired item crew I would like to be credited as essiw at the website update & corrections forum. Thanks! If you want to add me in game, add "essiw".
Yoko Kurama 801 Posted November 16, 2018 The numbers for OSRS are astounding. Before mobile released, it had peaked at 90K online players. Afterwards, it has peaked at 150K players. Meanwhile RS3 peaks at 30K-40K most nights.

But I would like to live in a small village, even if it is the size of only a few streets, if it is active. Welcome back essiw! I can agree collapsing some of the inactive forums makes sense. I think someone had made some good suggestions about that before, as well. For now the "View new content" link on the right side of the forum has been my savior for catching stuff posted across the numerous subforums. https://forum.tip.it/index.php?app=core&module=search&do=viewNewContent&search_app=forums
Yoko Kurama 801 Posted November 20, 2018 Although I still check in from time to time, this forum is pretty much dead and will not be resurrected no matter what actions are taken. We should just accept that, soberly. I would prefer that the organizational integrity be maintained, instead of collapsing everything into one garbled mess. It's mostly an archive at this point, and I'm okay with that.
hellbellz 1 Posted December 22, 2018 I used to spend more time bankstanding and reading Tip.it than actually playing RS back in the day.
