New Luck Items & Luck Rework

This week, we've overhauled one of RuneScape's most venerable systems – luck.

Where there were once but a few ways of manipulating your combat and skilling fortunes, now there are more – tailored for various phases of your RuneScape adventure.

Since the Game Jam, Mod Timbo's worked tirelessly to gather your feedback and put together the rework released today. Read on for full details.

How Does Luck Work?

Luck is a hidden stat that affects your chance of benefiting from:

  • Rare drops from Slayer
  • Unique drops from bosses
  • Clue-specific rewards from clue scrolls
  • Favourable skilling procs (see below)
  • Accessing the rare drop table (now granting an additional drop, not a replacement)

Luck-enhancing items now fall on one of four tiers. Tiers 1-3 affect content specific to certain level ranges. Tier 4 affects content of all levels, along with some extra benefits of its own.

What Content Does Luck Affect?

Tier 1

  • Level 1-50 Slayer monsters
  • Easy clues
  • Bosses:
    • KBD
    • Giant Mole
  • Increased chance to access the rare drop table

  • Increased chance to access the rare drop table, and to receive better loot from it

Tier 3

  • Level 81-99 Slayer monsters
  • High-level skilling:
    • Rare drops from Elf City pickpocketing
    • Increased chance of Black Ibis outfit
    • Improved loot from kingly implings
    • Improved chance of Sceptre of the Gods
  • Hard clues
  • Bosses:
    • Queen Black Dragon
    • Nex
    • God Wars Dungeon 2 (not Telos)
    • Kalphite King
    • Corporeal Beast

Skills, D&Ds & Minigames

  • Players no longer receive extra extenders when world hopping.
  • It is no longer possible to gain more than 10 supplies' worth of XP per day from handing in Goebie supplies. Handing in any more than 10 supplies will not give XP and the extra objects will be removed.
  • The Temple Trekking tasks from the Morytania Task Set now require the NPC to be taken only on routes that match their difficulty.
  • Achieving maximum points (100) in a Guthixian Cache will no longer bring up a confirmation box when attempting to leave early.
  • Stackable junk refiners can now be used to complete invention tech tree tasks.
  • The augmented Seren god bow now correctly says 'disassemble' instead of 'destroy'.

Quest, Challenges and Achievements

  • The Garden of Tranquility quest now correctly states Bernard's location as Taverley.

Other

  • Telos's shockwave will no longer hurt you on the transition between phases 3 and 4.
  • Telos's "SO. MUCH. POWER!" attack will no longer injure you if you get hit by it while transitioning from Phase 1 to 2.
  • Sunshine's animation when used with the Planted Feet perk has been extended to match the active duration the perk.
  • Deathmatch taunts 6 to 10 can be set up correctly once again.
  • A warning will be displayed in your chat (if it isn't filtered) should you have less than 500 charges left in your blood essence when you activate it.
  • You can no longer alch or drop the demonic skull while in combat.
  • You can now track your current Telos kill streak in the Beasts tab.
  • A erroneous pose has been removed from the Vindicta & Gorvek 'learn' page found within the Beasts tab.
  • The 'Salty' title will now be removed whenever/if new requirements are added to it. This includes the Hanto armour hence those who have not yet purchased the pieces from Boni will be unable to activate the title.
  • Certain problems that could be caused by entering Death's office on a Bounty Hunter world no longer occur.

Ninja Fixes

  • The Imp Catcher quest now requires 4 unique *non-tradeable* beads discovered during the quest, instead of the beads dropped by imps. If you've not yet completed Imp Catcher, talk to Wizard Mizgog for written directions to the sanguine, choleric, melancholic and phlegmatic imp.
  • The Imp Catcher quest now gives its Magic XP reward in the form of an XP lamp.
  • Wizard Mizgog's wander range has been reduced.
  • Dialogue trees on Wizard Mizgog and Wizard Grayzag now loop back to the start of the conversation instead of dropping out.
  • An aggressive mugger near the earth altar has been removed.
  • The guidance system notification meant to display the first time the player burns food should no longer trigger when the recipe doesn't create a burned food object.
  • Heroes' Quest has undergone a suite of quality-of-life improvements. Most notably, while the partner gameplay has been retained, you can now complete the quest on your own. Bring a lockpick.
  • After completing Heroes' Quest, the oily fishing rod can now be reclaimed from Gerrant.
  • After completing Heroes' Quest, ice gloves can now be reclaimed from the high priest of Entrana.
  • Camorra and the origins of the Ice Queen are now mentioned in Heroes' Quest.
  • After being freed from his cell in Taverley Dungeon, Velrak the explorer now resides at the entrance to the dungeon.
  • Loot beams for the lore book drops that were recently granted bad luck mitigation have been updated, in order that they clear more reliably (and generally behave like other loot beams).
  • Adamant dragons in the Brimhaven Dungeon now have the same chance to drop lore books as the adamant dragons in the Ancient Cavern.

There's also a new item in the GE called Hazelmere's signet ring. It's speculated to be a tier 5 luck-enhancing item, but nobody outside of Jagex has figured out how to obtain it so far.

Edit: misspelled "Hazelmere"

It probably is obtained by either as an RDT drop or Elite Clue scroll reward, both of which requires the T4 ring (Luck of the Dwarves) to be worn before it is possible to obtain it from either of these 2 sources.

I'm not thinking its an elite reward. People have done loads of them without getting it.

I'm still hard set on it is a pretty rare reward from doing something while having all 4 levels of luck active..

Perhaps a mob drop, rdt drop, or clues... while having the rabbit foot, ROW/uncharged insignia/potion, charged insignia/enhanced potion, and luck of the dwarves active.

I don't use all my G.E. slots, so I'm keeping an offer in for 1gp... ;p

Very unlikely but... what if they just randomly get placed into the G.E. by Jagex and only goes to someone who has an offer for 1gp :o

If something goes into GE, it will complete for the oldest and highest offer first. So if you are the first person to put an offer into the GE, at all, period, for 1gp, and someone puts the offer in for 2B after you, no matter what the seller puts it in the GE for it will be sold to the highest offer first :)

Yeah I know that's the way it's supposed to work. But Jagex can do anything so I mean for all we know they programmed something that bypasses that and gives it to someone at random :P

-Really- unlikely, but I'm just being silly and I don't need the 1 G.E. slot anyway. You never know!

I mean you COULD buy shards or various shop items and probably have enough for the ring when it is eventually available. But your call!

Are there any even in the game or is it just a teaser for a pending update at this point?

I don't know why people insist on taking this seriously.
