brad1431
I have leveled to 50 using lamps, but it is going real slow now. I have done all the discovery items. What is the best way to train from level 50 up and what things can I do with invention at this level and what will I be able to do with invention later on? brad1431
I dont really have any "main" Gear, what is siphoning, and how do I level? I assume this means I have to fight with the gear on to level it. I havent fought anything in years..... basically ever since the new comat came out with having to use the boxes and hit numbers while doing combat, I stopped fighting... hate active fighting, much prefer the old combat. Arceus
You need to make items called augmentors, and attach them to your gear. Only certain higher level items qualify (for example, bandos armor does but rune armor does not). Then, as you fight things, you gain xp and levels on the gear, and you have a choice between siphoning it (for slower xp, with an equipment siphon) or disassembling it (which destroys it completely). If you would like, you can use Legacy combat which may make things a bit more familiar. You can also augment tools like a dragon/crystal pickaxe, hatchet, etc., and level them up by using them in most skilling activities. But aside from small benefits to those skills, it doesn't really do anything, so...whether you feel it's worthwhile is up to you I suppose. brad1431
so it sounds like the best way to level is to augment gear and do slayer, but doesnt seem like I get any experience until I level the gear up to 10 or 12.
brad1431
so once my "good" gear is augmented and then gets to level 12, HOW do I siphon it?
Arceus
You'll need to get an equipment siphon (one for each piece of gear you want to siphon), either buying or making. Buying is probably easier for now since you're new to the skill. Then you just have the gear and siphon in your inventory, use the siphon on the gear, and click "OK" on the window that pops up to confirm. And then you get your XP. brad1431
and does it ruin the gear? I assume not since I was told to attach it to good gear and level to 12. What happens when the exp is fully siphoned? Can you augment again?
Ammako
When you siphon the exp, you keep the gear, and the augment on it. It just goes back to item level 1 and you can start over. You can remove the augment from it later if you wish, by using an augment dissolver. If your gear is degradable this will return your gear to you fully degraded and you just have to repair it, but non-degradable gear doesn't suffer from that. brad1431
got my chest and legs and whip augmented, all are up to levle 7 or 8, but now they stopped gaining experience and they say uncharged. What happened? What do I need to do?
Ammako
You need to pick up Divine charges, either gather the energies and get the simple parts yourself, to make your own, or buy them off the G.E. Your divine charge pack depletes as you use your augmented equipment, when the charges reach 0 they stop gaining equipment exp and they have the stats of Lv. 1 equipment, until you recharge your pack. brad1431
someone said level my "good" gear to level 12, but I am past level 10 and it doesnt level up to 11, so at what exp do I start to siphon the exp I have earned, and what happens after that when the exp runs out?
Ammako
Don't worry about that yet, you unlock the ability to level past 10 (up to 15) at Lv. 60. Until you get to 60 and research that upgrade, just siphon at 10. Siphoning a Lv. 70 piece of armor: - Lv. 9: ~5.85167 invention exp per item exp - Lv. 10: ~5.72034 invention exp per item exp - Lv. 12: ~5.60029 invention exp per item exp You might as well go the extra mile though and pick up some Barrows gear and disassemble at Lv. 10. Chest + legs tends to cost around 1.8m-2m in total (Karil's being like 4m for some reason), not counting the costs of augmentors, but you basically get double exp. Of course, if money is a concern, it's fine to stick to siphoning (also if you don't mind levelling slower for cheaper), and if you're augmenting your better gear like anima core or nex gear I wouldn't ever disassemble those :P unless you're swimming in money. brad1431
so I buy barroes, augment it, level it to level 10, then add a siphon, continure to use it unitl it gets down to 0exp and then disassemble it? IS that correct?
Ammako
Once you use equipment siphon it gives you invention exp equivalent to disassembling the item 2 item levels lower, and resets the item exp on it back to 0. Disassembling destroys the item but gives you full exp for the item for that item level. In other words, using equipment siphon on a piece of gear you leveled up to 10 gives you as much invention exp as you would get from disassembling it at Lv. 8; in return you keep the item rather than losing it. Degrade-to-dust gear works differently (Tectonic/Sirenic/Malevolent, refined anima core, PvP revenant gear); if you are augmenting those, then yeah, siphon every time the item hits Lv. 10 (12 once you unlock the ability to level items past 10) until the item runs out of internal charges, at which point you'd continue using it until it reaches Lv. 10 before disassembling it. This does not apply to any other regular augmentable gear (such as Barrows), which can be repeatedly leveled up and siphoned as many times as you want. For optimal invention exp you'd be disassembling Barrows entirely, though; if money was an issue then you'd be better off augmenting Bandos/Armadyl/Subjugation and siphoning them, that way you get the damage bonuses :P
brad1431
ok I still dont really understand this part of the skill, so I have augmented Tetsu armor, and drygores, also a whip and torag plate, and next will augment a torag legs. Which of these do I level to the highest currently possible and then siphon? I dont mind losing the torags and whip, but the rest I would like to keep if it makes sense. Money isnt a big issue, but also dont want to just piss it away. So once I get these to the highest level currently possible which is 10, which of these items do a siphon and what do I do with each when the exp runs out? I believe I keep them all, but not sure what to do when exp goes back to zero, how do I undo the siphon and start to build exp back up???
Ammako
You disassemble whatever pieces you'd be fine with losing, and siphon the ones you wouldn't want to lose. In this case I suppose disassemble whip/torag's, and siphon tetsu/drygores. You dont need to do anything once you siphon it and reset the exp back to 0, you just continue levelling it up back from lv 1 again.
brad1431
so I finally hit 60 invention and it says now my items can go up to level 15, but they keep getting more exp but never hit level 11, is there something else I hve to do or are levels past 10 ficticous? Ammako
You have to research the upgrade at the invention workbench first, don't you?
