The Broccoli Award!!

Okay, I got really excited when I saw the post about the broccoli awards, because I thought for a moment that it would honor the wonder that is broccoli :D

Think about it: Broccoli is one of the most nutricious foods around. (Source: http://discworld.atuin.net/lpc/links/cabbage/info/broccoli_nutrition.html) It has ridiculous amounts of protein and dietary fiber, both difficult to acquire in your diet, as well as Vitamin C. And then it has substantial amounts of calcium, vitamin A, and iron! And very little fat (especially saturated fat).

Meanwhile, it tastes DELICIOUS. It is also so well designed; the leafy end soaks up sauce very well, so it picks up flavour easily. And the stalky end is great for dipping.

If I were a scientist asked to design the perfect food, broccoli would come close to being it.

... On that note, what are y'all's favourite foods? :D

(Mods, hope this isn't spammy - if you feel it is, feel free to delete :D Not that you'd need my permission, but y'know.)

Everybody hug and spread the love :D

Actually I really like broccoli. It's one of those things that you never want to eat when you are young, but now I just love it plus it's really good for you :)

I LOVE brocoli, atleast, if my mom makes it with white wine and garlic. :snob:

Cheesecake. A good cheesecake has the capability of rendering you motionless for hours in a post-meal bliss. (That and its so dense it weighs you down :P )

On the broccoli issue: Yum. But all it needs is a little butter and salt. Theres no need to corrupt it with other sauces :D

Broccoli is probably one of the few vegetables that i actually dont like. I'll deal with the odd florets in a quiche or something but thats as far as i go. I certainly wouldnt eat it as part of a meal in the 5 a day thing. Yuck :(

I eat broccoli probably 3 or 4 times a week, pretty good stuff. There's plenty of stuff that tastes better but if i was eating pizza and steak every day i probably wouldn't be able to fit through my front door by now.

Kirk and Lars I could handle. At the same time.

Add roast chicken to that list and you've got my weekly dinners :P

Since I usually cook by stir-frying, broccoli is pretty low on my list of favourite vegetables since they don't heat up right and seem to loose a lot of flavour. Of course, all the way at the bottom is beetroot. I'm firmly convinced that if satan's backside is covered in boils, they would look and taste like beetroots.

Oh my God, brocolli is disgusting! If I was asked what a smoker's lung tastes like, I'd say brocolli. :(

Now, beetroot! There's a super food for ya! :D

How would you know what that tastes like?

Anyway! Steakum Sandwiches and French fries

Oh man!! If you stir fry them with a little bit of soy sauce, and cook 'em well so the edges are almost slightly burnt, they're fantastic! Mmmm.

And rotundra87, I think I love you. If you actually asked me for my favourite food, I think I'd have to say cheesecake, because in taste, it clearly beats out broccoli. Especially those ones at The Cheesecake Factory that make you wonder if there is a heaven. I usually eat half of them, then take them home, and relive the experience the next morning :D

Everybody hug and spread the love :D

I like my broccoli boiled then seasoned with olive oil and sesame seeds... Just divine...

As for my favorite food?

I would say tomatos... I love tomatos cooked in any manner... I blend two up in the morning and eat a further 2-3 a day as small snacks whenever I'm hungry.
