honeo
Well, snowboarding season is almost here, and I for one am totally pumped up for snowboarding! I am in a snowboarding club at school that does trips up to small hills around the area. I live in the Chicago Land area so of course there are not many hills. Yes I have been to Colorado before to go Snowboarding. My favorite place I have went to is Winter Park. I would like to know everyone elses view on snowboarding! Maybe tell us about how you got into snowboarding and tell us what kind of equipment you have. My Snowboard Burton Blunt(2005 or 2006 Model Snowboard) Post away. Training my pure! knives669
I would LOVE to try snowboarding... it's one of the things I plan to do before I die. Unfortunately, I live in the southern US, and we're lucky to even get snow in the winter. :(
Militaris
My personal view "Waste of time", plus I dis-like the hoon culture which hangs around with it. But to be honest, I have never tried snowboarding and I had a very similar attitude towards mountain bikers before I become one.

Unfortunately, I live in the southern US, and we're lucky to even get snow in the winter. :( Yeah it's really a good thing to try :). I don't know how old you are but when your an adult you should take your kids snowboarding and skiing. Both you and they will like it. Oh and snow is increasingly getting worse here around chicago due to "Global Warming Effects". My personal view "Waste of time", plus I dis-like the hoon culture which hangs around with it. But to be honest, I have never tried snowboarding and I had a very similar attitude towards mountain bikers before I become one. Waste of time... how so? And I know what you mean by hoon culture (long hair, skummy, skuzzy, failure, druggy) but you have to realize not even 1/4 of the people that snowboard are like this. I personally am the complete opposite. I have short hair, get pretty good grades, and I have never done drugs or drank a beer. Even though I am only 15, so what. Just don't stereotype people when you have never done it, expecially if you think it is a waste of time, or even never have been to a hill to see what it's like. Training my pure! deloriagod
I've tried it on small hills within a few miles of my house but I've never actually gotten to go down a mountain or anything. Though my 10 seconds on the little hills were fun lol. Internet Marketing For Newbies

Rizla
I love it. I did skiing for a while before trying boarding, and never looked back. I've been boarding for a total of 3 weeks since then and plan on going for another week in January of next year. I'm actually in the middle of buying my own setup, only boots and bindings to go. Kirk and Lars I could handle. At the same time.

Vito_Blade
Skiing for me. Never tried snowboarding, would like to be able to go more than 25mph down a hill on skies before I try snowboarding. That Double Black Dimond hurt. WHAT? "We'll bring the sexy back to judging >_>." --Nadril Bleh, once I get off my lazy bum and go to Imageshack, there will be a picture here. np_tyler
I've never snowboarded, but I'd like to... too bad "good" snowboards cost 200-400 dollars... and I wouldn't use it enough for it to be worth the cost. But hey, I could just rent one... - Np Tyler
Evilperson
I live for snowboarding. BlueLancer
You guys apparently haven't been to Svalbard. It's one of the best places in the world to snowboard in and the scenery is stunning, like from some LOTR movie (though the coldness is stunning too, so beware). I've been there for two consecutive years now with my bro and a friend. Also the vast areas guarantee there aren't even really any tourists around; the country itself is one of the northernmost on Earth and it has only a few thousand people. :)
Hobgoblin11
I've never tried snowboarding, but I've been skiing and I love Kiteboarding, so I guess mix the two, and hey presto! Have you ever tried kitesnowboarding? I've seen people do it and it looks insanely good! Try googling it and you'll find pictures of people on boards or skii's, literally flying down a mountain. They can jump up to 30 feet forwards on flat sea, so when the ground is dropping away from them as well, they can go for a lot further than that! Take a look. 99/99 Fletching, 99/99 Cooking, 96/99 Strength

Oh and I respect skiers and skiing itself. I too at the age of about 6 or 7 skied and then at about age 10 or 11 I tried snowboarding. I've loved it ever since! Skiing is cool though so I dont hate it, just dont do it anymore :). Oh and school programs are a great way to go because it gets you motivated to actually go to a hill and you get a great group/school discount! Well, at least our school does  . If you have not tried before it is definatley something to try. Training my pure!

I had no real interest until we all went out that one day and I loved every minute of it. Snowboarding is not really my thing. I usually make an effort to try it once or twice every year but I'm a dedicated skier. Maybe its because I don't like skateboarding at all? The problem with the gene pool is that there's no lifeguard.

Well, a lot of people I know enjoy skiing far more than snowboarding because you have more control. When snowboarding it's easy to trip over just because of a small mistake even if you've been doing it for years, which is nearly impossible while skiing. speedofsound
Never tried it but have always wanted to. You can't ever find a place that's nice and peaceful, because there isn't any. You may think there is, but once you get there, when you're not looking, somebody'll sneak up and write "(bleep) you" right under your nose. Try it sometime. I think, even, if I ever die, and they stick me in a cemetery, and I have a tombstone and all, it'll say "Holden Caulfield" on it, and then what year I was born and what year I died, and then right under that it'll say "(bleep) you."
