  1. thanks Dark_Shark, this is what I was trying to say, but you said it better. To me, the only thing a high level character represent is the number of hours the player was willing to spend sitting on their [wagon] in front of a computer screen. -Kaylivel
  2. errrr.... :uhh: I'll get flamed for this but why are high levels to be respected? What's so respectible about getting 99 in any level? I have a goal for myself of level 99 magic (eventually), but I don't expect anyone to respect me for it. Is a level 126 to be respected because they sat on their behinds in front of a computer controlling a computer character longer than other people? Bascially, that's what it comes down to. I don't respect or disrespect these people... they just have different priorities for their life. The only thing I find to respect in Runescape are players that are friendly/nice/respectful regardless of level. -Kaylivel P.S. I have a love/hate relationship with Pest Control. I like it because I get to use my multiplayer ancient spells (I don't PK). I hate it because new players don't bother to understand the goal of the game and don't watch the health of the portals and help when help is needed.
  3. Most abbreviations drive me insane. It's bad form and once you get in the habit it translates to other writing endeavors non-runescape related. Being a writer in real life, I'm a bit obsessive when it comes to spelling and grammar. I think all the text messaging devices are helping contribute to a generation of grammar illiterates. Yes. I do use some abbreviations like 'ty' or 'tyvm' because when trading (or whatever) I like to say thank you before the person walks away. At one point I used 'ppl' for people, but stopped as I found myself doing it by habit outside of Runescape. I do use 'lol', but I've been using that since... oh.... hm... late '80s. Wildy is not an abbreviation, it's a nickname. There's a difference between nicknames and abbreviations. Such as using the name Andy for Andrew. This goes for Lumby, Fally, Cammy etc... -Kaylivel P.S. I can understand why people would use abbreviations. Some don't type quickly and they'd be at it all day if it weren't for shortcuts. Still... I have my opinion on the subject.
  4. Spank... You cannot say 'spank'. That is the stupidest thing I've ever seen. Jagex needs to relax a bit and stop trying to cover every single word that might possibly by chance accident be used as an expletive. They go way overboard on the censor stuff. BTW... a 'dork' is a whale weenie. Seriously. And yeah, I can say hell and poop but not crap. Go figure. -Kaylivel
  5. I went over to Pest Control last night and I couldn't believe it when I saw an autobot in the magic store buying up all the chaos and deaths. :x I've seen it in the f2p but this is the first time in the p2p world. I can't even begin to say how angry that made me. I wish Jagex had an attack bot option I would have ice blitzed the 'mother where he stood I was so mad. Gosh... it makes me all fluttery inside to think of performing an ice burst on the lot of them around a yew tree. \ 8-) I would *pay* Jagex for the priveledge of doing that. -Kaylivel
  6. I went to the free world to give a f2p friend some stuff and I was unhappily amazed at the amount of 'green clone guys' (as I call them) at the yew trees between Draynor and Port Sarim. And I went on to find that just about any resource that could be bought and sold for a profit was so tight. Autobots hang out in the magic store and just buy runes. I asked my friend how he could play in those conditions. Sadly, he told me he just gets used to it. It's because of the autobots that I bring him runes. He just couldn't get them in the f2p. :( Honestly, I would have quit if I'd been him. I didn't believe Jagex when they said they were going to get tough on 'bots, but I take it back. It looks like they're really doing something and not just blowing smoke. -Kaylivel
  7. During my first day of play, a skilled player befriended me, helped me and also gave me an air staff. I'm a lvl 83 combat (lvl 86 mage) now, I still have that staff and he's still my friend :D
  8. I'm out in the desert doing the agility pyramid. I did it once without too much problem, now I've been trying to complete it for a second time and I can't even get off the first lvl. What is the deal? This time around I even have more agility experience and upped a lvl, I would think it would be easier. It's really making me mad. :wall: Anyone else have this trouble with the Pyramid? -Kaylivel
  9. Geez, what a loooonnnngggg quest! Anyway, I'm nearing the end of the quest where I get the final two crystals and have to go into a cave with lvl 111 dragons. Although I don't fight the dragons, I do have to get by them and it is recommended that I have an anti-dragon shield. Oh, and btw, I'm only a lvl 48 combat and thus far have been just fine. The problem is, I don't have an anti-dragon shield. I know I can get one if I start the Dragon Slayer quest, but I'm shy of about 6 quest points to get into the Champion's guild (have to be a member to start that quest). Do I really really need that anti-dragon shield? Is there any way around it? Right now, I'm thinking about putting Watch Tower on hold while I do the Romeo and Juliette quest because it gives me 5 quest points and I'll need one other easy quest, then I can get into the Champion's guild, get that anti-dragon shield and finish Watch Tower. Any advice? Thanks, Kaylivel
  10. oh oh oh oh oh... \ I get it. Thanks. -Kaylivel
  11. I enchanted a binding necklace so went and made a bunch of lava runes... the thing is, I have no clue what to do with them... ?? They're fun to make and other than giving me experience in runecrafting... I see no spells to use them on... I've heard they're used for pking. That's all anyone has been able to tell me. -Kaylivel
  12. My issue is not dealing with the problem of rudeness, I already said I just ignored it, my issue is why someone would go to the trouble of it--it's easier to type "Hi" than "noob" or "loser". I guess I'm just amazed that people can be that ignorant or perhaps socially inept is a better description. Deliberately being rude is just a behavior that to me is foreign. Anyway, my purpose was to see if this is a widespread problem in runescape and I guess it is. -Kaylivel
  13. This "will you be my gf" thing totally squicks me out. Yuck. I had one guy chasing me around asking me to be his girlfriend. I was in a bit of a rush trying to get some smithing/smelting done (which I really dislike) and didn't answer him right away. Then he says "Omg! Loser!" I found that funny actually, and asked him who was the one chasing me and begging me to be his gf. Whatever. -Kaylivel
  14. I've been playing Runescape now for about 6 weeks and it's a ton of fun. I'm one of those friendly players who'll help someone with a quest or advice. I have notice, however, there are players who are well... rude without provacation. I was fishing and this player came up and said "Noob". That doesn't bother me (I'm kinda used to it, I'm a lvl 45, but was told I'd be called noob until after lvl 50 :-k ), but what was funny was that he was a lower lvl than I. So I said "Isn't that the pot calling the kettle black?" Then he started to get really abusive--I can have a potty mouth, but he managed to say some things that were unusually inappropriate. I put him on my ignore list and reported him, not that it would do any good. Normally I ignore that kind of stuff, but he was like a psycho stalker or something. Next, I was killing cows to get hides to get my crafting lvl up, and this player out of the blue runs over to me and calls me a loser. Again, kinda funny since he was only 1 lvl above me. I ignored him but he continued to harrass me. Then there was a player I helped out for free. He needed something, uh.. fish for his kitten I believe.. and I had a lot of sardines in the bank, so I gave him some for free. No big deal. If I need more I can fish more, plus a lot of people have been very generous to me, so I'm just paying back the generosity. Later, I was in Varrock standing near a group of players of which one of these was the guy I helped. I was checking out the world map for mining spots and when I went back to the game screen, he was harassing me. What's up with these people? What's the purpose of harassing someone who is just going about their business? Players like that are creepy. What I suggest, is that you never know who might help you or be of assistance to you. It's better to be nice than nasty. Fortunately, way more players have been nice than nasty, like the nice guy who gave me a shovel when i realized I needed one for a clue scroll. Or the guy who gave me--yes GAVE--an air staff. Pass around the niceness and it'll come back to you... it's like karma ya' know? Be nice. -Kaylivel
  15. Thanks everyone. I've heard about hiding behind the mushrooms. I think I'll try that. I also think it's good advice to get my mage lvl up so I can use wind blast and craft/buy a ton o' runes so I don't run out. As soon as my wood cutting lvl is where it's suppose to be... uh... that would be 30 or 35... it may be more, don't remember... I'm going to be doing this. Wish me luck. -Kaylivel
