  1. Hugely disappointed with the sound of the smithing update. Do we really need faster ways or more economical ways to train smithing it already has both. Rune/addy bars give huge exp/hr while gold ore once the bars are sold is only about 2.5-3gp/exp (cheaper if you buy ores on a low). Honestly the training methods while not that elaborate for smithing are the last thing that needs work.
  2. Happy Birthday!

  3. Wow this is really disappointing news from Jagex. Lets make a game and try to build a strong community by hosting an event that gives players with more money and live in the right place a special item. Yes that is the best way to build a strong community this of course won't cause any resentment or hostility in the community. This item just promotes RWT even if it is account bond because I'm sure there will be people willing to buy the account just for the item regardless of how useless it is. That's just how people are there is always someone that just wants everything regardless of if it is meaningful to them. To anyone that supports this how would you feel if Jagex started to charge to pick up other holiday items? Because honestly this is just a step away from that. I can see it now buy a 20 dollar useless icicle exclusively for Christmas 2010. Last to anyone that feels they are inclined to the item because you bought the ticket you are just as selfish as everyone that is upset by this item requiring that you pay extra for it.
  4. Honestly it boils down more to a person's personality (addictive or not). People want to find blame for things that they perceive ruin their life, the game is not to blame for your addiction. I started playing runescape almost upon release yet I still managed to graduate from high school with a high GPA while participating in sports during all seasons and possessing an active social life. I went to college and got an engineering degree graduating towards the top of my class while finding time to exercise and hang out with my friends all while still playing runescape. After graduation I have since gotten a job and continue find time to exercise, visit with friends and play runescape all at the same time. I even managed to fit in other various hobbies while doing this. Really all it takes is a slight ability to manage your time and allowing runescape to be something you do in your free time not the other way around. I hate to break it to you but if you think runescape was really taking over your life odds are you just have an addictive personality and will find something else to consume all your time and blame for ruining your life. Instead of just swearing off something try to teach yourself good time management skills otherwise you will spend the rest of your life getting addicted to something and swearing off it to find something new.
  5. Surprised no one has said survivor when you beat it without dying.
  6. Man just had my first real big disappointment with Jagex and a HUGE flaw in their design. I was going through and then had to fight the geomancer for boss. Well not to bad except that through the whole dungeon I got NO range gear. They didnt have one tree or creature to trap to gain this gear. Meanwhile all I've gotten in the dungeon was 3 ores and about 100k . Needless to say I bought what I could in gear and died three times on the boss. This to me is a very big disappointment in design. If they are going to give you a boss that is designed to be fought with range then make it accessible to get gear to fight him. Seems like poor game designing IMO
  7. Again you're assuming that they haven't put in anything for bonuses for completing the dungeon. As far as levels go you get 10:1 but as I said I don't see it staying that way or they have already added something in to allow for more tokens to be given. Again as I said it just doesn't make sense to make a skill that even at 99 you aren't close to buying all the items I know it is crazy but I really think that at least one person at Jagex would of looked at that and said hmmm maybe we need to do something about that.
  8. Along the whole discussion of is this a minigame or skill I would have to say if they keep it as it currently is it definitely is more minigame designed but still quite fun and creative. If however they do what I am fairly sure they will (due to the fact that we unlock all levels of the dungeon quite early on in the skill) and add more dungeons that you can accessed and train in I can see this having more of a skill feel. It would also be nice to see future dungeons actually require a certain dungeoneering skill in order to access certain bosses within and follow a similar system but allow for players to bring in their own supplies and actually keep boss drops (think of a place like GWD but you need certain dungeoneering level to access). It would also be nice if they added more dungeons in and then had something similar to a slayer master that gave you tasks to complete in the dungeons like go to this dungeon and complete level 15 or allow for specialty items that are dropped so the task could be like collect the horn of To' kash something to make it more assigned tasks and allow for some sort of reward for following that. That to me would make it have a more skill feel.
  9. You are making assumptions on only what is known after two days of the skill. For all we know when you complete the final levels you may get 100k tokens. As of now we know so little about this skill and how all things work. I am sure that there is going to be some change or already something in there to allows for more tokens to be given than the 10:1. It just doesn't add up that you would need 99 in the skill and still not even be close to buying all the items for the skill. Yes I get the concept that time is money and 400k tokens is equal one of the shields or 400k exp that you must make a trade off somewhere. But you are ASSUMING WAY to much and about the time investment of this skill. We really don't know how this skill will play out with collecting tokens. It may be at higher levels you can get all the tokens need to purchase one of those items in two hours or it may really end up being 100 hours to get them. Until more information is determined it is not really worth it to say this isn't worth the effort it would be better spent giving approximations on how fast tokens would have to be generated to be considered worth the effort and then when more is know about the skill we will see if it is worthwhile.
  10. Man after looking over how much other people are getting and how fast people have leveled I think I'm doing something wrong here. After about 6-8 hours of playing this skill I'm only level 17 and I can't figure out what I'm doing to make me level so slowly. Should I be resetting my prestige by now or what should i be doing to help speed this process up.
  11. A quick question regarding leveling this skill quicker. Do you get more exp if you kill all the monsters in the rooms or if you just skip over them will you get the same experience?
  12. troacctid while you analyze a real world situation correctly you neglect something about runescape that may far outweigh all those things. The fact that people will be leveling this skill and thus have lots of tokens likely laying around. They may choose to use them to level up the skill quicker or they may choose to save them up to use for these items. I am sure no one will argue the fact that this skill is far to new to make claims about how quickly tokens can and will be gathered but if the skill lvl of 120 is an indication of something that is achievable in a reasonable time limit I imagine there will be plenty of tokens to use. While I don't see these being viable pvp items since they have no special attacks their ability for the rest of the game seems like it is quite worth the possible time it takes. Comparing runescape straight to real life is something you can't do because of the influences that don't exist in life like being told that your experience/money (tokens) earned are so limited in purchasing ability.
  13. When I read the news about dungeoneering I was quite excited. After playing it a little I still like the idea but feel they may have over done it by far to much far to early. I mean hell I am only on level three and I just feel massively overwhelmed with everything. It took me almost two hours to get through the place (yielding a little over 100 exp) and the partner I had while a fairly decent player skill wise was for lack of better words [developmentally delayed]ed. He choose to run through the dungeon as quickly as possible ignoring the fact that we should collect items to make better armor and weapons and then complained continuously that I wasn't helping since I was gathering items to make it easier. About halfway through he just quit which actually made it easier since I no longer had to share items and could go at a reasonable pace. Either way adding in all the skills with all the selections and all the new items is so confusing and it is hard to adjust. I think the lower levels of the place should only drop lower items and higher levels should only give higher items so it is easier to keep everything straight. I know people would hate using crappy items but I just feel that the learning curve is so steep for this skill. Finally I don't even want to think about the bosses on further levels. I just fought the Luminescent Icefiend and he gave me a royal smack down. I died three times on him using all tier 9 equipment with a high level summoning creature. I mean this skill will be near impossible to explore on your own it appears. So all in all seems like a fun skill I just feel they add to much to soon (maybe I should just keep to lower complexity but then I feel my wide range of skills is just wasted) and made it far to difficult to early, I could understand bosses like that around dungeon level ten but level 3. Guess time will tell. Also does anyone have any advice to leveling I'm really curious to see how the people got as far as they did so quickly because I am leveling very slowly.
  14. Reading MMH's suggestion only makes me think of one single thing: The Fremmy guarded island with a RUINED KEEP on it in East Wilderness and North of Slayer Tower. Does that sound like the Deepstone Keep described by MMH?? I think there's a lot of evidence pointing to that Jagex actually decided to work MMH's suggestion into the game. (I mean...he is a Jagex employee afterall!) I can't find the Wilderness Castle thread but I'm sure upon further comparison between those screenshots and MMH's descriptions, we'll find many parallels. Perhaps Jagex is working instanced boss fights into the game and MMH's suggestion is how they're doing it? but his suggestion was never finished. Yeah unfortunately after the release of the mysterious castle he confirmed that the castle was not Deepstone Keep and that was about it.
  15. Hmmm guess it doesn't like the link due to the commas well if you don't mind finding it yourself it is in the Suggestions - Area and Achievement Diary part of the forums and called MMH Suggests - Deepstone Keep. It is on page 22.
